  • In this chess opening video, I teach you about the theory of the Milner-Barry Gambit against the French Defense. I also teach you how to violently demolish, destroy, bamboozle, decimate, crush, and embarrass your opponent with it. Have fun!

thanks, this helped a lot! I love this Gambit and lost count how many of my opponents blundered their queen because they forgot to bring their bishop to the party...

Why report them for cheating if they do that? It's a valid move right?

Right, you can’t report people for knowing opening theory, …Bc5 in this position is suggested in Plichta’s chessable course, I think and it is also the best move in the Nbd2 line.

Yes, that was a silly thing to say. I was shown the move on YT. Nice gambit though

I looked this up searching for some help developing my French Defense. Kinda funny to find this video as somebody who plays the French but doesn't even play e4

@10:21 it looks like black's knight is in trouble

I thought it was trapped at first too, but sadly black can play kd7 then rc8 and the engine says black is slightly better because no matter what white does, black will go rc2 counterattacking our bishop and somehow black is slightly better still. I suggest you look at it with an engine yourself since it's a very interesting position!

I like how some people hate playing against the French. It gives me more reason to play it. The Milner-Barry gambit is a one-trick-pony. It will fool beginner French players only once.

And after that you are to report them for cheating

8:07 actually, it's not that depressing for black. They have 2 extra pawns, their structure is solid, and while white are better, they should play very precisely if they don't want to end up in a lost endgame. So, I wouldn't dismiss this line so easily.

It works with sub 1900 Elo players from my experience especially if it's a Rapid tournament

well, if someone knows it maybe he watched your bowiem and is not a cheater.

yeah .... i am tired of people complaining about cheating. I study alot of opening traps, and people fall into them at times, then they report me for cheating. One line that i had memorized in the wing gambit against the Sicilian went about 15 moves deep, winning the queen, and I got heat for that. The arbitrators jump all over it because it is move for move according to computer. Well, I had it memorized .... is that a sin?

@@natzigaro4924right, pretty bad arbitrators to ban you for knowing some opening theory.
