- When it came time to write her valedictorian speech, she decided to share a secret she's been living with for years -- she's an undocumented immigrant.

the interviewer throwing shade in his question, "the dynamic of the families in México" let me tell you something, have you seen the statistics of child abuse in the USA. That's a problem in every culture dude. Do not judge her, she is doing excellent after all that she has gone through. She is wonderful, shame on you interviewer

A year later but man I had chills the whole time I dont know this girl but god im glad she represented undocumented people.
That's so sad. We need a neutral place on the border for both sides to meet and visit legally.
The question here is how she is filing for "citizenship." There is a process to follow and a person cannot just apply directly for citizenship. A person first has to apply for permanent residency and eventually citizenship. People need to get educated before making comments.

Regarding of what your position is on illegal immigration, you have to give this girl credit for not being afraid to speaking her mind!!!!
This woman has courage, intelligence and a plan to do things well. It is evident to me this family is not here to exploit / abuse the benefits available. Perhaps it would be wise to enlist the services of DD-214ers aka Military Veterans, 22 million strong, to help determine who would be worthy candidates for a push toward citizenship or deportation. DD-214ers have been trusted to protect this country before, nothing has changed.
I wish she would come to my country (Australia). She is so smart, hardworking, and has a lovely personality. If the USA kicks her out, it's their loss. I pray she succeeds in everything she strives for. 🙏🙂❤️

The narrative does not hold up. There is no way you can apply for US citizenship immediately after arriving in the US on a tourist visa. If they meant Permanent Residence, I don't see how they could possibly qualify either (the bar is extremely high). So, I assume that they applied for Refugee status.

I can't believe most of these horrible comments. Actually I can. There is so many hatred in this world. At least she's doing something positive. Something good for herself and others. I saw a few comments saying America is giving all this free money? What about all these drug addicts we see on a daily basis getting high in parks in front of our children. Begging for money? I'm happy she did well in school I hope she goes far, at the same time why don't the parents apply for citizenship immediately. That means they didn't start applying until she was 10/11 years old.
With her college degree she can get a great job in Mexico. Are we suppose to feel sorry for her?

How can we not be proud of this young woman? We should welcome her with open arms into our big private club of American citizenship. She has earned it, more so than many who are just born into it. Let's not make her the scapegoat for anyone's insecurities. This country is great partly because of its immigrants. Just ask your grandparents and great grandparents.

Can someone please explain how illegal immigrants are able to gain employment in the United States. Every business that I know asks for a social security card, but how do you produce one when you are not here legally? If you use a fake card with a fake number, wouldn't that be also a crime? Also, if you work without a social security number, how do you pay your taxes? If you don't pay your taxes wouldn't that also be a crime?

We are all Americans like it or not.
IMO. There should be a pathway for young people like her to become U.S. citizens. But nothing is free and a pathway should not be available for every undocumented person that crosses our borders illegaly. She’s young, smart, and educated, so there is no question that our country would benefit from her. She’d have to earn too. Would she be willing to serve in the U.S. Armed Services for 4 years in exchange for a green card? Any branches would do. Army, Air Force, Navy, USMC, US Coast Guard. Just do 4 years and get your honorable discharge and green card. A year later she can apply for US citizenship. It’s a sacrifice but you’d earned our respect in serving this country.

Honestly I really hate that people like her parents, which for the record, I have no grudge on a personal level against her and is probably a good kid, though I would actually have to talk to her in a actual conversation to see, because anyone can be in these stories and look like a good guy on the news.
The reason I hate what they did is because for every illegal person the crosses the border, a person that is trying to get in legally, their wait is extended. Plus it is an incredibly dangerous thing to do on account that the border patrol end up seeing tons of bodies of people that were unlucky to drown and the ones who are lucky are either criminals which is usually the case, people that want things spoon fed to them and VERY few try to have a better life, but either way you slice it, it's at our expense.
She came through legally, this isn't the same. She's attempting to become a citizen from the time she got here and came through properly.
So if I was runner up, I would sue or have her deported.
