      dee . My sister stayed in Fort Lauderdale. I'm really pissed, I live in Metro Atlanta and my parents have 2 vacation homes north of her house where she could've went at least. She's literally 15 minutes away from the beach and has a huge mango tree in her backyard. I'm really stressed out and the traffic on 75 is horrific all the way where I'm at, which is 8 hours from Orlando

      I know there's people out there trying to do harm, but people like me and them we just want to have a normal life like you. Be able to go to college be able to drive. Things many people take for granted. I never drove illegally just because I knew it was wrong. Then again people tell you to leave a country that you pledge allegiance too which I did! I raise are flag almost everyday at my job. They want us to leave a country we call home to a place we don't even know. Its hard to understand when you haven't gone trough it. I work with a lot of republicans. I see there views and they see mines. They know where I came from and when I went to my interview every last one of them said they would write letters or go show there support for me. Sorry for posting this long post its just hard for both you and me. You want a safe country I completely understand and I applaud you for it. Cause I want the same thing.

      This isn't about diversity this isn't racism it's about breaking the law. My family went through the legal immigration process. They had to wait 5 years before they could even attempt to try to get in. Illegal immigration isn't fair to those who follow the law and isn't fair to the American people.

      I totally agree. My parents and my friends' parents had to wait YEARS and had to live in different locations in order to legally secure a green card. They went through Hell, so how is it fair to just let some people in without going through the legal process. The law is the law. I'm all down for making it easier for people to get green cards and become citizens, but until then...

    For all the people saying "just come here legally," it's a lot easier said than done. If it was easy, no one would be undocumented. People come to make a better life for themselves and their family, were all just people, we need to stop thinking that an American border somehow makes our worth differ. We're all human. #defenddaca

      KaylinEllie the thing is though that its breaking the law. Why is breaking this law ok and breaking another not ok? laws keep us safe and many people have immigrated legally. its unfair to people who went throught the process as my grandparents did from korea. Also, immigrating illegally is dangerous. I dont believe every illegal immigant is a murderer but i do believe statistically there are bound to be a few bad apples. were all human yes but we also need to follow rules or else were just animals in chaos.

      BRI ANA I think we can all understand doing what you can for your kids. But committing a crime and making their lives harder and full of unneeded stress isn't the way to go about it. The system needs to be rewritten so that it is simpler and faster for potential immigrants to come to the United States instead of people thinking that illegal entry is the only option. Plus the current DACA only protects the children, not the parents, from deportation. If they were to keep the DACA and rewrite it, wouldn't it make sense to have those parents to be able to test to become documented immigrants rather than solely protect the children and keep it in it's current state?

    Couldn't scroll too far without being overwhelmed by a lack of compassion that stems from ignorance. I don't have firsthand experience of what this must feel like, but I have friends that do and help educate me and anyone who wants to learn. DACA is not about the person who made the choice to come here, it's about the ones who were brought here and grew up here. Just imagine that you grew up speaking some German or Hungarian or Swedish at home. You know some of the traditions from family, but you've never been there or don't remember it. Now move there and never come back. What does that feel like? How do you start over?

People just need to check their privilege and try to understand the struggle of becoming a citizen when you aren't born into it.

    My mother waited 18 years to come into this country. It's almost an insult to all the hard work my family had to go through to get her to America and everyone thinks that they can just bypass the line of law abiding citzens? and then they expect protection for breaking the law? It's sad and all but it's unfair to all the people who are waiting to come into America LEGALLY
    EDIT: I know it wasn't the dreamer's choice but we have to hold someone responsible. I feel bad for them, but what'll become of our country if no one follows the laws? Instead of giving them protection for being here ILLEGALLY then we should try and improve the system to make it a little bit easier for them to get here legally.
    For everyone saying that the system is very hard, there is a reason why the system takes too long. One, because there are so many wonderful people that want to come to America. And Two, because they have to make sure that everyone coming here is safe and that we WANT them in our country. There is a REASON why it's hard.
    And just because the system is hard doesn't mean DREAMER's parents should have bypassed it because were they came from was troubled. Again, everyone has to be responcible for breaking the law and if it means having to deport the dreamers (I know it's sad) then it has to be done.

      The idea of an amnesty on illegal immigrants is shocking, if it happens it should start with a refund of any money legal immigrants spent getting their papers. Immigration should be a transparent, fair and equal system, or failing that no system at all.

It just makes sense that if you want to live in the country you become a citizen because it tells the government that you agree to follow the law and in return get your rights protected and if you aren't a citizen then you aren't agreeing to anything so it makes sense to get deported. Not trying to hate just the truth. I get that if you didn't have a choice to come into the country but that shouldn't be an excuse. I might not be American but I do have alot of experience when it comes to the visa/citizen application process. Yes it is expensive, and yes most of the undocumented are coming for impoverished countries but it boils down to the law and the law(especially America's isn't very empathetic). I especially understand those who are "Dreamers" or from "DACA". These kids didn't have a choice because they were brought over as kids, but there should be some personal responsibility most of these 800 thousand + people knew at some point they were undocumented and they and their families haven't sought to legitimize themselves. I honestly don't think they should be fighting to keep DACA if it isn't even a grant of permanent citizenship, instead they should be fighting to be documented.

      You need to understand that currently there is no path to citizenship for Dreamers. If they applied, since they were undocumented they would have to be deported for 10 years before they could even begin to apply for citizenship. This is the law currently and it's completely understandable that people who have grown up in the US don't want to be sent to a country they barely know, possibly for decades, before they're allowed to come back. It makes no sense when they already have jobs, families and built lives here as Americans

    • @debrasurretsky387

      All of the DACA noted here were not "brought" by their parents. Please do the detailed check from all sources and make your point heard by all means. As far as America not being "empathetic" please let me know what would happen to an American that decided to go across the Mexican border illegally.

    • @seastormsinger
      @seastormsinger 7 років тому +2

      Samantha pink You make the assumption that they haven't sought legitimate citizenship of residency, but there are currently no realistic ways for many of these people to seek it. I agree that DACA is only a short term solution, but repealing it doesn't somehow force the government to make a realistic approach to citizenship, if anything it makes it more difficult.
      The US has an illegal immigration problem, but the problem isn't the immigrants themselves, its the laws that limit the ability of people to come here. A a culture, we have always had a place for immigrants, immigrants contribute value to our economy, and freedom to cross borders and live in the country of your choice is an acknowledged universal right.
      The US needs to reject hateful rhetoric and stand up for freedom. Repealing DACA is the opposite of this.

You're right, it's not fair, but what about the dreamers who didn't even choose to come here? Here's a solution... MAKE THE IMMIGRATION PROCESS EASIER!!! I know, it's easier said than done, but if we can make it just a little easier for incoming immigrants it can make a huge difference in this "illegal immigrant" problem. America's government is far from perfect, (just like how it's always been...) but with this change to make the process easier, more and more people will support America and that means more soldiers, doctors, lawyers, chefs, teachers, and engineers!

The legal immigrants are not even eligible tor DACA. DACA are for people whoc come here illegally and support by lawmakers who wnated to extend them benefits which legal immigrants do not get. Many immigrants came here to have children so they could have a good education and live a good life not like in the other countries that there is a lot of deaths and wars. My friend came to this country with nothing. She went to school and didn’t know english. Her parents and my friend came here because they were getting death threats. So now think about it. Wouldn’t you want to leave if you were treated like that? They didn’t have money. They can only feed themselves and afford a apartment. The excuse that it would take too long is not an excuse at all. Wait the time, go through the process right. Just because you got to live in this country and enjoy the benefits it hands out does not mean that you deserve it more than any one else. Especially those that waited years to get their citizenship and did it the right way.

  • @Windmelodie
    @Windmelodie 7 років тому +2

    Okay so, as a non-American, I don't really understand this. If you're undocumented, it means you are illegal. Not having documents is illegal to everyone though, right? Not just immigrants. Like, if I were to drive and have no license and no other official documents with me...then that is illegal. And if my parents have lived in this country long enough to be able to raise me for several years, why haven't they applied for official citizenship yet to become a proper, legal citizen of the country they want to live in? And if not, why should THEY be allowed to skip the procedures while others have to go through them? I'm not saying there should be no immigrants, I support multiculturalism and my own mother is an immigrant to the country I have been born and raised in. But I believe it has to be done properly and legally, even if it's hard. And if you don't abide by the rules, then please don't complain if you get punished for breaking the law. If you're a refugee, fleeing from a war-torn country or if you are persecuted for political reasons, because of your religion or sexuality, then ask for political asylum. If you want to be a legal immigrant who lives and works in a country, apply for citizenship.
    Again, I don't know if things are different in the US for some reason and I really don't want to be racist, I'm just trying to be fair and follow the rules without exception.

    I find it extremely arrogant of people to illegally make their way into a country while there are honest good people out there that have spent years trying to get into it legally. Why are jeopardising people lives that work to make yours better. They work, go to school and live just like you and the only difference is a number and a few documents. MATE this is not americas problem. It's the parents responsibility if anyone who gets deported. Apply for citizenship like immigrants who helped mould america. You cant base laws on emotion as many countries don't, Guarantee any countries these people come from would deport anyone who is illegal.... its a LAW ffs such emotional dribble.

    Yes, it would be great to just hold hands and love / accept everyone freely.
    The problem with that is who do you choose to stay or go? There is not enough room for people to freely flood into the States without hurting the economy or other aspects of what makes America what it is. That is why there's a limited amount legally allowed.
    By adding more and more exceptions to the boarders we continue to take jobs from people who need them here. We take opportunities from veterans fighting to get off the street. And yes, right now it may be negatable with the small amounts of people but where do we draw the line?
    Prevention is better than recovering from mistakes.

    I know it is difficult to gain citizenship, but just staying an undocumented citizen is AGAINST THE LAW. I am not going to touch on the youth who had no choice in coming here, even though if they were educated here that in itself makes gaining citizenship easier. However, how is this fair to the people who go to the extensive measures to actually gain citizenship? Our government gives financial benefits to those who come here illegally, and that flies in the face of immigrants who actually labored to gain legal status here. How is it fair to give all the benefits that we give to people who don't live here legally, when we can hardly afford the benefits we give to our own citizens?
