9:49 Thankfully you didn't damage the gearbox there, not the best idea to put it in park while moving but hey, given the situation and the anxiety levels it's understandable
You're right. It is a HORRIBLE place to come to a stop, over crest on the line, I was waiting for someone to smash into us, so had to GTFO asap, hence I was acting without thinking about the "minor things".
Rather a broken gearbox that someone smashing into you at 100+mph panic sets in and you don’t think about snapping the parking leaver inside the box.
that ratchet sound is what prevents it from breaking, not good to do every time but it won't hurt it once.
Is it safe to change to neutral while you're driving slowly? I have never tried it but also don't want to damage it.
@@gillesLegein I always go from whatever speed i go mostly 80 to 0 i put the car in N so it will roll off smoothly towards the traffic light.
It’s the gas pedal. Tell him to buy a newer version gas pedal and it will go away. Basically the reading that the traction control system gets from the pedal is incorrect and it puts it into limp mode. The check engine light goes away after a few days. The first few times it may go away with a restart.
I thought the exactly the same when I first saw it happen, I'm not a mechanic so I couldn't put all the words together like you and someone else who had this car did 😅
It can also be fixed by adding a piece of rubber between the pedal and the kickdown button as a temporary fix. It gets worn by using kick down and the potenciometer in the pedal assembly goes out of range and throws an error.
So turned off traction control. Sounds easy
Happened on my c300

I’ve had a similar problem on my C63 - the gas pedal was malfunctioning and would sometimes trigger limp mode when floored. In the end it was lighting up the check engine light but it was nothing serious, a new pedal and rock on!
Had the same issue. New pedal all sorted.
9:49 the way he looked at you when you put it in park while still moving 😂
Would doing that harm the car?
@@EggWafflehea that would destroy it
@@EggWafflehea Yep it would, because the parking pawl locks the output shaft so it doesn't move, so it would either destroy the parking pawl or gears from the output shaft
Better destroy gearbox and start quickly than got smashed by a car behind you going at 100 mph
@@mohis5664 yes
A suggestion to all people watching this video: NEVER TURN OFF YOUR CAR WHILE MOVING! You will loose brake pressure and power steering so your car will become immediately uncontrollable. Stop first then turn it off to reset the ecu. Some modern cars requires 10/20 sec to completely rebooth so wait for that before restarting (some even requires to lock the doors as you are leaving the car so try that as well if needed).
With hydraulic power steering and being in gear you will have power steering and vacuum for brakes.. With electric versions it depends on the car if you will have power steering while having ignition on.
A Few Years ago i was about to leave the Autobahn in my Car and and very short before the sharp Exit turn the Car just turned off and i had no power steering and only limited braking Power. That was so scary i barely made it around the corner.
None of the things you said are true, but that being said you do need to be careful, I was doing about 80mph in my dad’s L322 and it went into limp mode, turned it off while still driving and the steering lock came on 😅

2nd time the engine cut off, check engine light came up… i wonder if the car is equipped by some sort of anti theft system that prevents the engine to run in case the car is lifted of the ground… also engine oil in the beginning heats up really really fast so lack of oil could be also something to check.
Came up both times but went away in a couple seconds on the first time
Probably a loose fuze.
The oil heating is really strange, maybe also some really bad oil in there, cheap stuff.
Oil over-heating on the facelift models is very common and the car will usually go into limp mode at 130-135 degrees.
It’s due to the shitty facelift front bumper which reduces the grill area so significantly that the cooling system is compromised, it’s almost impossible to track a facelift without it overheating.
Pre-facelift has much less problems due to having vents in the side of the front bumper like a shark which exhaust the hot air from the massive intakes in the front.
For serious track use you can fit the black series cooling kit It’s a couple of grand for parts and labour, but well worth it.

@@thatmotoguy7505 what a dumb comment, although i'm a BMW driver
Misha, I have experienced the same behaviour with a ML63 AMG 2010 (Facelift - same generation) and the problem dissapeared everytime I have switched off the engine. The problem is from a bad sensor (don't remember exactly, but it is connected to the acceleration pedal and ESP). Hope this helps the owner. :)
This is why I hate modern cars :) lets see a 90s car drop you dead on a race track because its sensor hurts 🤕
@@Alex-ck4in Great driver excuse for slow old cars hahah
It's about the traction control right? Cause when he took the first bump and the car dropped off the curb hard first time, the light stayed on so I thought it cut off the power completely, because that's the job of the traction control right? To cut power when kicking in
I hope it is just this simple sensor ESP issue and hope everything is OK tho
@@thefunkybassist9916 I'm mainly trolling to be honest, I honestly want to own a AMG really bad 😂😂
@@Alex-ck4in to be fair, modern technology has advanced in very good ways. Classics are great and feel more raw, but are much more dangerous. Sensor issues suck, but imo it's great to have such features when doing touring races.
Finally a regular w204 c63 that’s tuned! Thanks Misha!
100% throttle pedal is toast…or Abs ESP unit…I changed my pedal last time it happened and never happened since. Same issue…car dips down, kick down on a decline or incline….loss power, limp mode, check engine. New pedal resolved it…..Welcome to 1 of many little gremlins this awesome car has.
How much was it? And did you changed to the Same Pedal or a newer one?
@@Stamina1337 should be about $140-170 for a new pedal. It’s just a brand new pedal from Mercedes. Replaces the whole unit, 10 minute job.if that doesn’t work then it could esp unit which is more expensive. I am still running my original with 143k miles so least likely issue.
@@SROC276 heard that as well. Something with hard drifting and donuts making the ABS sensors go wild and casuing ABS, ESP, Power Steering to fail.
I will definitely take a look at it. Thank you!
@@Stamina1337 steering fail was the esp from what I recall. Pedal issue was car just goes into limp mode, says esp inoperable, need to pull over and restart car and it’s fine. Both could be related and cheaper fix for me was the pedal fortunately

Well said carmrade.

@@pipou2626 Yep maybe you don't 🤷
Kevin is a great guest ngl🥳💯
good old c63, gets to first corner, oil temps already sky high, the facelifts definitely get hot, wanna take mine there someday
Yes, the Pre Facelift doesn’t have this problems. For the track you need better oil and maybe a extra oil cooler
C63 only checks its oil at start up. Could also be limpmode because of extreme oil temps. C63s are known to go into limp mode at above 120°C
The fault will be a wheel speed sensor, the pick up is on the hub. When the wheel bearings are worn and there is movement the pick up can lose signal with the sensor. Hence it happening on the curbs 👍🏼
Might be also a bad ground point or speed sensor when engine revs fast without traction. Could be too many things, but hopefully something simple. I'm dying to know what it was.
Read out the freeze frames from the engine light. Most likely a throttle pedal error.
Might be tilt protection. Modern cars cut the fuel system if a tilt is detected to prevent pumping fuel into a crashed engine and literally dumping fuel on a fire 🔥.
Either too sensitive or sensor is loose / broken.
Dude in the back looks like an undercover alien just waiting for the opportunity to whip out his laser gun and make the planet hostage.
I have an advice for you in this case, had same problem with Esp, you can turn car off, no need to stop. Put it to N because car wont turn on if you have it on D. Try it when car is stopped and you ll see ! Saves you in case you cannot stop! And the problem is due to align of tires (had same problem with A class) do tyre
aligning and problem is fixed :)
what a beast of a car/ driver m8 incredible x
The young lady’s hair made for a great g-meter!
Most uncomfortable ride along Misha 😅 enjoyed the roar of the n/a v8 but I was on edge watching this video, also after the second time you switched the car on the engine light stayed on.
I've had the experience of a W204 randomly turning off (not sure whether to call it limp mode). Wasn't pushing like Misha, the only common thing with this video is weight. Had 2 passengers plus 2 huge fully loaded luggages. Now I'm really curious to know why this happens.
I do remember that TC not fully off with modded cars (specially with horse power gain ) usually break or have issues…
The car not knowing how too manage the extra power can be a possibility 🤷🏿♂️
Misha, I think your thinking is right. Could be oil starvation in corners affecting the car.
Top right camera angle of the passengers straight up gives Fake taxi vibes
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You mean ringtaxi ? 🤣
@@kamiun6279 nop, he meant exactly what he said xD
Man that is possibly one of the worst places to have the car turn off the throttle but luckily cycling the key will always restore it, i agree with some of the other comments that its the gas pedal assembly reading the wrong position vs expected so the computer shuts down the throttle.
I wish to drive there someday, so jealous of all the experience you all have to the local people who can say this is their backyard
Don't be jealous, there's no need to envy someone else cause you look at his things or what he has blessed with, your time will come, just be thankful and look who is under u not above u, and work hard and everything eventually will come oneday, and if it won't come just be thankful because sometimes it could've been even worse.

The girl took it like a champ.
The performance pack version of that car with approx 475hp with no other modifications does the ring in 8.01 with one person driving and I doubt that car did not break while it did it's lap.
More than likely a bad throttle position sensor. My old W204 use to do that exact same thing. Notice how your TC light is flashing 9:35 indicating you are above traction limits, the TPS is out of reading range fighting with TC. Because it does not know how far open it is, it's killing the car.
We really need you to do a video on the orange M4 GTS. The one of the video you posted 2 weeks ago
Whenever the owner decides to :)
This happened to me with a Clio RS200 (rental) after clipping the kerb at Wipperman. The kill switch kicked in automatically when the car "landed". Maybe this was somehow related?
Your right the system thought it had been in a collision, inertia cut off. Engine stopped when fuel rail pressure stopped fuel delivery. Not limp mode like some say. Owning a Mercedes is like being in a accident everyday anyway. Sarcasm!
I guess that's the usual AMG-experience. You get lots of electronic helpers, of which 10% don't work. Reminds me of the Top Gear video on the AMG One.
My C63 had major pedal issues. I had to replace twice. I hit a huge bump and threw the car into Limp Mode! Replaced the Throttle Body and throttle position sensor and it never happened again. This is the same kind of issue.
As the limp mode seemed to happen when going over curbs, my first thought went to how annoying it is to take the ferry locally, where every Mercedes and BMW is screaming the whole boat ride, due to anti jack alarms going off when there's waves, could there be something akin to that affecting things when going on the curbs?
Edit:
Reading other comments, it seems it's a gas pedal thing or something, so ignore my random guess. :P
Probably a speed sensor went wrong and the engine shut off i have same problem in my Subaru 😅
In this case ,put off the Traction control totally, it goes to factory reset if you press the pedal till it clicks if the Traction control isn't off, simple thing put off Traction control
Like a scene straight out of Baby Driver. Just need your headphones 🎧
Happened to me with E500 :) it was the gas pedal. Changed it and its perfect
9:49 yep push in P while rolling everytime a good idea xD but at the second stop the check engine lite is turned on
Also that issue is ESL tracktion module. Easy 3k fix at benz. Needs to be programmed
this problem is very well known at mercedes w204 it is the error code 5001 it deactivates abs,esp and ebv.
The only problem is that it overheats fast that’s why u have to let it cool down
oil temps climbed quite fast to 120'C
Crazy to switch vehicle of like that 😮loose steering assistance brakes and worst of all steering lock coming on
Unbelievable driving skills tho bud 😎
Overheating from the first view on the beginning. 2°C and goes up to 131 at next limp mode.
You can't use a car at this hard driving without some preps.
It's not a track car from stock.
Need some oil and coolant prep and if temp are so high, improved cooling system or Evans coolant that endure high temps and pressure without damaging engine
But over 100°C engine oil and 130 coolant, you start burning oil and need cooldown lap.
Yet another car that seems hampered by an excess of technology and programming. The comments on this video are the best part of it; backseat mechanics are amazing!
Misha you were gaining ground on that m3 too lol 😂 he got saved by that pedal issue
How are these people not smiling?

The front passenger looks scared #hitless and the other 2 look bored! How weird. Can’t win them all Misha 😂
i had "same" problem with vw passat when floord car when into limp mode. and was something about oil pressure sensor if i remember corractly
Hey Misha do you know any thing abaut the Dacia from the 24h race?
The car should go back to the tuner. Its torque monitoring intervening, the ecu sees that the car is tuned and puts the car in limp mode where you cant even drive anymore because the throthle does not react. Fault code will be a few P06xx in the ecu.
The terrified face of an owner waiting for the loud bang🙂 I hope Misha offered PTSD counselling post lap.
I love the way Misha is doing his usual cool, calm and collected. The other three look to varing degrees like rabbits caught in the headlights!
Misha please do a run on a BYD SEAL I'd love to see it. There is 0 content with that car on track. Love your vids!
Sure it wasnt something with the wheel speed sensors / tcs? I wonder if it would have done the same with TCS fully off vs sport handling which is a sort of intermediate mode. Still odd if the engine cut out.
9:48 did he really put the transmission in the P while still driving? LOL
Some mercedes do that shut off thing, I had a ML350 and if you do a full emergency stop it shuts off fuel and you have to put it in park and restart
Still love the M156 engine!
Interesting, it happens on the curbs but has no problem with the carousel.
Just fyi: You can start almost all automatic cars also in N. No need to put it into P.
need to press ok so you can see AMG water/oil temps instead of "sport handling mode" This is even more important seen as the car was having an issue early on.
It’s almost certainly a stability control plausibility fault. Kerbs and things like that are notorious for causing software plausibility issues, particularly on older systems like Bosch 8. The fact you get purely a stability unavailable fault tells you that rather than a cascade of other faults. Merc clearly then choose to go into limp home as a fault reaction.
I don't know if it's just me but Misha should start his laps with just an abrupt pedal to tha metal pull
Did she smile 😂 well done misha love all your content
That grinding noise when putting it in Park while still rolling … ouch 🫣
If the battery is under the rear seat bench, it's shorting out on bumps/curbs and the car is shutting off...my car almost burned to the ground, had the same symptoms.
I got to respect you for still uploading this video Misha..................
Was in this AMG not a lateral accelrometer that sees by hard bumps or breaking a sudden G force change and cuts the power from the pedal?
Two things could be the reason for this:
1. Gas pedal not communicating with the ECU correctly (50 euro, 15 minute fix)
2. Faulty mass air flow sensor (20 euro, 5 minute fix)
Hey man, love your videos and I have been watching for a long long time. I think one of the first boosted Boris crossovers was when I found you.
You gave quite great advice to yourself last year, and I just wanted to leave a reminder that maybe you should follow up more on it. Take it slower!
You are pushing it quite hard, on this cars prepared and maintained god knows how, by god know who, with 4 people really pushing the limit of the package.
I really panicked when I saw the car breaking down for the 2nd time when it did. That was really a crappy spot! Maybe it's worth it to look back and see if it is still worth it to take those types of cars out on track...
I had a super nasty moment earlier this year. Nastiest of my career I'd say. I'll probably post the video later in the year. But after that I said: no more shitboxes, no more cars with stock brakes, unless supercars. This car was quite ok. And tbh modern performance cars can do weird stuff too. I've drawn the line sooner now for sure.
It’s so difficult to know how any car is going to perform no matter if it’s new or old, and I test work in progress factory cars that are supposed to be market leading sport luxury.
Until I’ve had that first, safer, shakedown run I wouldn’t be pushing any car this hard.
I don’t know if they still open the GP circuit for laps, but it might be a way to get an idea of how a car is going to perform on a track with lots of run off and safer circuit design, before giving the car the full Nordschleife treatment.
Overall I love the videos though and I wish this one had been more of a success having a W204 C63 myself.
I didn't know they changed the car park to dual lane, i wonder if it has helped?
Watching this makes me wanna go to Nürburgring again... In Gran Turismo 4 😂
Great vlog featuring the Mercedes C63 AMG! I really enjoy all your videos , but I have a slight disagreement regarding the part where you are more than two people in the car during a track tour. Considering that every kilogram matters and that it's crucial to maintain the driver's focus, I believe it's best to limit the number of passengers. Safety and optimal performance should always be a top priority. Keep up the great work though!
I believe the 204/212s use shift by wire anyway, it'll only let you go into park when the TCU knows its safe to do so
The engine warning light remained on after the last stop !
