Why does this channel have more love than others like it? I suspect that it is the little stuff the editors add (not just the wholesome awesome people). Flashback videos in b/w, relevant little videos about the phrases they use, these are great ways to include the watchers AND I APPRECIATE THEM! "New boot goofin" or just an old cartoon that I didn't happen to know. I get so many of the quotes but love to see the ones, that I do not know, are explained with little videos. These are NOT needed for channel success but are appreciated.
Hunters funniest moment ever!! When he was told he was turning into Paul with the toothpick in his mouth and he immediately threw it across the shop!! hahaha
Little trick i learned from drilling hardened plate. Drill with your left hand if the drill binds in pulls out of your hand, instead of yanking your arm into a pretzel.
Looking good. Reckon you're right... Needs that running board gap filled in. Probably also wants the rear fenders made a bit wider to match the front as well.
i was really surprised to see him use the "steady rest" on the lathe i thought i was the only one to ever use one of those. (im not sure thats even what its called just what ive always called it). paul is quite the machinist and aluminum tig welder.
Lovely to see Mary-Pat's old truck getting some love! Those old shocks used to be called lever-arm shocks. They have oil inside them as the damping medium,,,
That is a cool ‘42! Sean was the perfect addition. Love the energy in the shop with the guys. And Michelle, those new hi lites look beautiful. Wish I were that comfortable in front of the camera.🌺
You might want frame connectors or you might end up seeing Robbie to straighten the frame once the frame suffers from the pretzel 🥨 effect caused by too much power that’s beyond what the frame can handle.
Unless you put drag slicks on it, the tires will roast before the frame gives out. It's a full frame already, so if it's not already boxed, that would help, but aside from caging it, there's nothing to connect. ✌️🐸
Good morning Paul and Crew. Robbie Layton needs help with his new tow truck. He says he needs help with exhaust but honestly he needs 3 or 4 link on the Front end as well. Might be a cool collaboration. Maybe he can trade you for an I owe you for a paint job.
Those shocks are rebuildable. I’ve had them in a couple old MG’s and my Chevy truck. Keep them if you’re not gonna use them. I love that truck, mine’s a 36 (still with a straight-6 but with dual carbs and exhaust. 😊
This is probably the only FabRats project I haven't agreed with. Don't get me wrong, I love what you've done with it, but I also really liked the basic simplicity of what it was.
I couldn't resist commenting on the turn down tips. They look good and will do the job just fine for this truck but they reminded me of my dirt track days and they were not permitted (of all things something so simple) only because they stirred up too much dust in the pits. Which to be honest they did with all the air flow that passes thru a racing engine. On the other hand they did keep a lot of heat off the floorboards and if your headers ended close to the gas pedal the heel of your shoe would melt to the floor.
Shawn was wondering if we are progressing mechanically and I almost spit my coffee laughing. Engineering is going backward at a good pace making things complicated.
Those old shocks remind me of an old door closure. Like you would see on an entry way in a business. Sits on top of the door to control how fast the door closes.
Guys. There is a hack for saving your wrists when drilling: touch the outside edge of the bit (both sides) to your grinder. Juuust touch. Itll never grab again.
@@mel-il4yu "you need to help" is what was posted. Do you like being told what to do? The proper way is "Hey Paul Roby is struggling with his build and could use your help". See the difference? an education and being polite goes a long way 😉
Holy Moly these '42 Chevy upgrades are awesome! Love the peek look at the new lounge area with the cabinets going in it's going to be so nice! This '42 is a monster power house and runs like a scalded dog! Sean and Hunter are such a great asset to this Fab Rats team! Love the cameo's of Michelle. Looking awesome Paul and team.
I'm just wondering... what's the total vehicle count (drivable rigs, not the boneyard) up to? It'd be cool to see all the vehicles in the arsenal of fun.
"Makes you wonder if we're going backwards." - Famous last words, haha. Brave man tempting fate, I tell ya! 🤣🤣 Wait, Hunter can read a tape?! See!! He IS learning some stuff LOLOL
On the rear fenders, why not extend them out to the corner of the bed? That way it goes from running board and swoops up into the fender. This will also give you a bit more down force on the rear-end.
I love what your doing to the 42 Chevy! I been waiting to see it finished, and I like what I'm seeing! Til next time, take care, and we'll see you on the next. 😊
i think hunter was lyin about a delicious meal.. looks like he just slid it around in the bowl to make it looked like he ate it lol...great videos guys. just givvin hunter some sh*t
Never quit laughing Hunter, it makes us feel better for laughing :) I say we create a laughing union, so nobody can be sacked for too much sarcasm and laughing at the little pains of Paul :D It goes without saying, Paul should not hold back responding to it :)
Michelle.. Lunch looked good and Easy.. But How long have you been trying to get Paul to finish up the Door Jam Trim... Lol 😂 Ps. Truck looks Killer...
Fenders are great just widen them and extend the running boards to them. Also think you'll need to run two light gage channel braces between the channel section where the 4 links weld to the rear of the frame under the cab to keep it from flexing under load, but you've gotten her to a point where even the where the original owner would love her.
NEVER TOO MUCH POWER just need common sence to know when and how to use it ---- you must be smarter than what your driving --- THE MAN KNOWS WHAT HES DOING ......
Tip - Instead of twisting the daylights out of your wrist, get an impact-ready chuck for the 1/4" impact. You'll be a lot happier. I've been using my impact a lot more than my 3/8" drill. Works great with holesaws too.
Sean you need to learn to put a slite negative rake on the the cutting edge of that drill when you’re going through a pre-existing hole in aluminum it will save your wrist I’d hate to see you get a broken wrist from that drill gun
I say you should widen the rear fenders and run them. That looks great. I would go steelies, caps and wide white walls on it personally. But that truck is the sweetest thing you own IMO.
Am I alone in noticing that our Fellow Utah Folks Say Measure "maysure" differently than we do over here in the Midwest "Mehsure" namely Northern Ohio? Matts Clan says it same way as well as Casey's recovery channel. 😂 What gives?
Great video as always. Hunter, can you please pick-up after yourself and take care of your water bottles.. that are sitting on top of the I-beam (chain-fall/crane). LOL
Paul, that’s going to be awesome. In my opinion, and I’m just saying because I am a old painter myself, I would take it over to Robby’s and paint it. I would lay down a candy burgundy or say candy caramel, cinnamon color, with a tan interior or a dark grey color. I like tan because it gives it a nice contrast and shows less dirt or dust than other colors. That is just my opinion or preference though, it’s a awesome ride and is going to be a absolute blast to ride around in, can’t wait to see what you guys do next with it!
Stock rear fenders would look real good on the 42 pickup. How are you going to balance the driveshaft ??? If you had used rear leaf springs you could have put on a set of traction bars and also run the exhaust clear out the back .
In my opinion, the rear fenders are too narrow. I think the wheels needed to come out and match the width of the front wheels. And make offenders come out as far. The front fenders look so wide, compared to the back ones. I think it would look so cool if they were even.
Shawn back off on the pressure when the point starts through the metal. When you hear the sound change and feel the vibration slightly increase it’s about to go through.

I'm so envious of the way these guys can just take anything apart and fix it. They are very talented.
Right?! I am timid when it comes to taking things apart and trying to put them back together.
The old 42 is looking good! BTW, makes me smile every time I see Paul using the old lathe he rescued. Always enjoy the channel!

I can't wait to see the "42" finished. I know you like "rat rods" but I hope it gets a Robbie Layton painting.
You might want frame connectors or you might end up seeing Robbie to straighten the frame once the frame suffers from the pretzel 🥨 effect caused by too much power that’s beyond what the frame can handle.

If you listed carefully, Robby or Hill Billy said they need a 4 link front end on the wrecker, but I’m sure they could manage to do it….
Can't wait to see her all done up fab rat style. Thanks for sharing
Coming along nicely! Copper fuel line is a bad idea. Copper work hardens with vibrations and can/will unexpectedly crack and fail.

you guys need one drill with the extra handle still attached to it ... to avoid a(nother) workplace injury.
Interested to see how the old frame handles that HP.......
That 42 is badass ,would love to have it.
Working in wheelwell drilling out broken ball joint bolt. Drill grabbed swung around 5amp battery to the side of the head. Almost put my lights out 😢
Looks and sounds strong cognates now finish it . Happy trails
Rear fenders need to be a little wider. The front end looks cool.
The rear end offset is for thrust vectoring. It’s a feature.
Hunter has the best job!!!
Shawn did a great job working and running video completely solo. Good work!
Nice. That thing sounds awesome. I predict many roads in town will be painted black. Such a great channel. Thanks.
Another exhaust direction out from the sides of the running boards

On the rear fenders, why not extend them out to the corner of the bed? That way it goes from running board and swoops up into the fender. This will also give you a bit more down force on the rear-end.
there are companies that will buy the rear shocks for cores and rebuild them for restoration projects.

You’re going to hate a 4 link. ladderbars are better to drive on the street. Also, you’ll need a bigger fuel line if you’re over 450 horse.
Fenders are great just widen them and extend the running boards to them.
