I always thought the chevy II-nova from 62-65 (box novas) were the square bodies, (trucks are totally different story) 66 and 67 they were rounded a little then in 68 the classic nova shape came out and ran until the new body was released in 75.. I had several 71 and 72 Buick Skylarks that shared that body style. In 75 they came out with a narrower car with a much larger side window like hunters or my late grandmothers nova rs
The interactions between Ben and Hunter are some of my favorite parts of this channel. They are hilarious together whether they are ragging on each other or unified in plotting against Paul.
Speaking of one horsepower, I live near a community that has a number of Amish people, and a man was taking his kids for a ride on a pony cart, and I commented to the man that that wasn't even one horsepower, to which the man just laughed. I love the work ethic of the Amish, as you almost never see lazy Amish people. They're not afraid to get their hands dirty, and could run circles around a lot of us.
I had a buddy whose family bought a pair of new Novas in 1970. One had a 307, three on the tree, the other a 350, with the same tranny. The 307 would broil ONE tire forever, the 350 posi one was terrifying!!! A hard launch, and 2 good shifts would put you past 100 MPH easily! Building a Wont Go that will do that is like crazy,Man!
It's awesome how you help the younger generation with their vehicles. I'm sure that they really look up to you for that. You're a heck of a role model.

Paul’s voice over is great . I can hear him doing some kind of beer commercials or some country type product. Chevy pickup truck commercials or Jeep commercials. Great country/ western style voice.
I agree perfect example look at rorys truck, and the and the use it see's. Also I use to work on a maintenance crew at a ups depot 98%of the trucks were manual and never had any problems with the trans seen quite a few driver twist drive shafts when the had a loaded truck but that was it .the 2% autos were garbage they ended up being taken off the lineup constantly.

I grew up in such a similar environment. My dad and co-dad always treated me like an adult and gave me responsibility beyond my years- well it turns out I caught a horrible case of responsibility and hopefully passed that on. Now my dad treated me like an adult but that came with the consequences of yelling a lot at times. I figured out how to eliminate that- just like Paul I sure hope that we all continue to get the blessings that we’re receiving now! Fabrats needs to do a transmission build collab with precision transmission. Should let you watch him rebuild a couple then he watch you and point out anything you could improve to prevent failures. Be an awesome video for both channels.
The amount of patience you have for transmissions is unreal. I owned my first vehicle I ever bought for 16 years (69 F250 that I cummins swapped) and I really really like that truck, It was even a bit sentimental to me but after two rounds of getting the trans rebuilt and only making it 100 miles I impulse sold it. Kudos to you for never giving up

I'm so happy to see someone else struggling with random transmission crap. I replaced my transmission and burned up a torque converter sending crap through the valve body then cleaned the valve body and ended up with a extra checkball and a hard 1-2 shift the transfer case bolts loosened causing the overdrive housing to crack. Now that it is working OK the pump seal wants to leak. Transmissions are fun stuff
You all are so crearive. I am so jealous for tor shop and friends to help get Hunters Nova on the road again. It s all under control, if not today , tomorrow.
Thanks for the torque converter shim lesson. Richard Crich often mentions people getting that wrong & I only vaguely understood what he meant. Thanks to this, now I get it. Turns out it's not all that complicated.

Swapping a TH350 by yourself with only a floor jack is way more fun, with the car on jackstands. However watching Paul blow that one apart and put it back together is pretty dang impressive. May the curse be lifted.

Paul don't feel bad. 45 years ago, when I was getting into mechanic business. I was working at this transmission shop as a re and re guy. One day I had to take out and reinstall the C4 out of a Continental with 429 four times in one day. Turned out to have a tiny crack in the case. So, I know your pain.
That's why Hunter came to work for you. He knew he had to rebuild his car and he knew you'd helping. Looks nice. I love that love how family and friends stick together and help each other. It's what you're supposed to do
Great work Paul and the rest of the crew, it is very humbling watching your videos because you show the highs and lows of fixing stuff unlike some youtube creators who just make everything look way too easily done. My personal experience knows not to get your hopes up when you think your done fixing some old vehicle or machine, there is always another problem just waiting around the corner to show its face.

In the early 70's my Dad had a 60 something white chevy car with red vinyl interior that he drove to work. I was really young, but remember sitting next to him with his leg out the door pushing us out of the garage...no reverse. He did that for a few years then got a brand new 1974 Dodge Club Cab truck.
I had EXACTLY that same problem years ago. Luckily the transmission guy spotted it as he put the box up on the bench. Same thing. Powerglide flexplate with a turbo 350 box. 😮

Worked on many turbo 350’s back in the day. Usually the biggest issue with them was the vacuum modulator went bad.

You might want to check and make sure the flex plate is not installed backwards!

I was really young, but remember sitting next to him with his leg out the door pushing us out of the garage...no reverse. He did that for a few years then got a brand new 1974 Dodge Club Cab truck.

I had EXACTLY that same problem years ago. Luckily the transmission guy spotted it as he put the box up on the bench. Same thing. Powerglide flexplate with a turbo 350 box. 😮
