    I did almost this exact test route, he was lucky not to get that right turn onto the narrow country road I had to do! Passed in 2019 and since moving out of the area this is really nostalgic to watch!

      Passed on Monday with 5 minors. Inspector was absolutely nice he actually laughed with me that made me feel comfortable. I thought id failed because I didn't do my manoeuvre on the road I did it in the testing centre just before I finished the test. People don't assume you failed keep positive till you switch the engine off. Good luck everyone taking their test

      @@UKDrivingTesti failed this test route a few back, after 20hrs+ driving Wakefied i was shocked that it was my first time ever driving on that route on any of the roads.
      At the turn right filter lights that he failed on, if he had arrived to the traffic lights and they were red but the right filter light was lit would he be able to drive forward into the waiting space or would that be classed as running a red light still?

    Absolutely brutal failure. Many actual drivers are infinitely more dangerous than he was, the DVSA are scummy for failing him. Just explain the knowledge that he was missing and pass him. He's not likely to ever make that mistake again is he. Now he has to wait 6 months and fork out another £100+ when money is already tight.

    • @pursuitofcat
      @pursuitofcat Місяць тому

      +1 Thats an absolute shame. DVSA needs to review its passing and failing policy a bit. Especially considering they are hugely under-staffed to take driving tests.

    Haha, i live where this video was done, nice to see it, that bypass the learner goes on is called the mad mile, the second roundabout very often has cars on it that misjudged the end of the bypass, and it is Batley, not Balley.

    • @UKDrivingTest
      @UKDrivingTest  2 роки тому

      haha, why is it called the 'mad mile', because it causes you to go mad out of boredom! the road looks very empty with nothing going on and a fairly low speed limit (50mph) for such a road, but presumably there is some sort of danger about that road causing that lower limit.

    • @oslaskid
      @oslaskid 2 роки тому +1

      @@UKDrivingTest it used to be national speed limit, but due to speeding, and vehicles ending up on the roundabout, it got lowered., The bend of the road near the second roundabout is actually quite tight at high speed and it can catch people out as the roundabout comes up, I pass it most days and so many cars end up on it when they didn't brake in time. It's notorious for it. Like the videos by the way, very informative, even for me who has been driving for a long time.

    What about appropriate speed ? On a few occasions he appeared to be going to way slower than the limit when it was clear.

    • @UKDrivingTest
      @UKDrivingTest  2 роки тому +1

      As mentioned in the video the speedo on the dash cameras will always show slightly lower that the speed on the car. So if it says 35mph, speed in car will more likely be 37/38mph.
      Also the examiner may not be able to see the in car speedo, due to dash board design, so needs to go by 'feel'. So 37/38mph may feel very similar to 40mph.

    This is another example of everything that’s wrong with DVSA in this country. Sorry but that should never be a fail. Especially given that fact that he had no other faults. His mistake impacted no other driver. And it was 5 mins from the end. He demonstrated he can drive safely to a good standard. It makes no sense to fail him for that. This is why learners can’t get a test book date for months because we have DVSA examiners failing learners for silly reasons. The government need to reform the DVSA something needs to be done. The point is to drive safely not perfectly. Nobody drives perfectly in the country least of all learners. Disgrace

    • @UKDrivingTest
      @UKDrivingTest  2 роки тому +4

      On a driving test you need to show competence and understanding of the highway code, after all it is a test to be giving a full licence / the ability to drive unsupervised.
      Unfortunately the mistake with the traffic light show a fairly large lack of competence on that subject, so imo the serious fault was fully warranted, whilst it is still unfortunate.

      Specially because ppl can pass the theory test without knowing what a stop sign is , a give way sing is , a red light , zebra crossings , what to do in a tunnel , on a motorway and near a school ... You can get all those questions wrong and still pass your theory test ...
      I've seen a lot of learners failing for turning right because they forgot or didn't know there was a filter arrow , failing for waiting for the filter arrow it's the 1st one I've seen .

  • @glasgowjohn7831

    if he had went through the stop line onto the arrow and safely turned before the filter light turned green would that have been allowed?

    • @UKDrivingTest
      @UKDrivingTest  Рік тому +1

      yes, if there is a green light you can proceed into the middle, check it is clear ahead, if it is then you can turn. You do not need to wait for the filter arrow.
      Basically either go when it is clear ahead or when the filter arrow appears, which even comes sooner.

    İ wish l would had got the chance to watch this. This is exactly what I have done on my test. İ did wait behind the stop line and that was the only fault:(.
    But a question here: i understand that he should have proceeded and then waited on thr turning point in order to give way to main traffic before turning right ( if also the light is green). But if he allowed to turn with the normal green light, why there is a filter green and when filter green turns on?

    Had a quick question, on the approach to a roundabout the examiner states that you can use either the left or right lane to take the third exit on the right, if I used the left lane to turn right would I still need to signal right?

    • @UKDrivingTest
      @UKDrivingTest  2 роки тому +2

      It is pretty rare you use can use the left lane to take the third exit to the right, only time this would be allowed is if road markings / signs clearly stated you can do it.
      If the signs / markings said you can do it then i would signal if it was going to benefit someone, generally if it is traffic light controlled and clearly marked the signal will not benefit anyone, but if it is not traffic light controlled I would probably signal.
      But generally if in doubt signal, assuming it will not mislead anyone.

    So if Eugen had waited for oncoming traffic at the the filter lane at 38:26 would he still have failed considering he didn't go to the filter lane early on. Also I didn't understand when you said, red light will show for oncoming traffic when green filter arrow shows.

    • @UKDrivingTest
      @UKDrivingTest  2 роки тому +3

      When the light show green (even with no filter) you need to enter the junction and go to your point of turn then either:
      1. wait for it to be safe to go
      2. wait for the filter light to come on
      Which even comes sooner, if it is quiet there will probably be an opportunity to go before the filter light comes on, if busy you might need to wait for the filter light as no safe gaps prior to this.

    • @mbsmile78

      Not sure really, i know the DVSA website sometimes has issue but not heard of those issues effecting someone for 2 months.
      I can only suggest trying to use a different web browser or different device. Try booking at different times of the day, for example the website often has maintenance late at night. If all else fails you might need to try and call the DVSA, although be prepare to be a wait for a while.

      They are there if it gets busy.
      Presumably this road often gets busy, so needs to filter to help drivers turning right to 'get a turn', but as it's quiet on the video the filter light serves no purpose at the moment.

    I wouldn't have given him a serious fault for not moving forwards as he didn't put anyone in danger, and wasn't obstructing anyone, I'd of given him a minor for it but explained that he should of moved forwards.

    • @UKDrivingTest
      @UKDrivingTest  Рік тому

      Unfortunately it's not always a case of if it was safe or if it effected someone.
      As its a test to show competence to get a full driving license it's also about showing understanding of the rules of the road, if this is not shown then it could be a fail, even if no one was effected, like on this video.

    • @Sage.....
      @Sage..... Рік тому

      @@UKDrivingTest I see what you're saying but obviously he wasn't aware and was doing what he believed to be the safest option, surly someone faultless with a perfect drive should have been marked as a minor fault, if he was making all kinds of faults during the test then yes I'd agree but for something when he's not even moving at some lights i personally wouldn't have marked that as a serious, it a minor error that could of simply been explained to him very easily at the end of the test or something he would of figured out within the first few days of driving once he passed. We are all still learning for a lifetime when we pass, this in my opinion was a harsh decision.

    When your turning left and then instantly right how should you signal?

    • @UKDrivingTest
      @UKDrivingTest  2 роки тому +2

      It depends on close the two turns are.
      As a general rule of thumb consider this:
      Do you have time to fully straighten the wheel between both turns?
      Yes - Mirrors signal left, straighten the wheel then mirrors signal right.
      No - It is a staggered junctions and treat it like a 'straight ahead', so no signal left signal and no right signal, just check mirrors.
