    Wow this is a blast from the past. I used to live off Howard Avenue (20:16). When I took my test there was no test centre in Burgess Hill. I took my test in Kemptown, Brighton in January 1989

    I passed my driving test at Burgess hill on 2nd attempt with zero minor ! I had follow the sign towards Brighton for independent driving , I was expecting a sat nav but I was good at both and nailed it … instructor was quite happy after the test . Thanks for all your video , it was helpful

    Did you call Hurstpierpoint College, Ardingly college? I know this area very well well, infact the candidate was asked to stop right outside my house. I consider this a dangerous place to stop on a right hand bend as it is particularly difficult to see other traffic approaching up the hill behind. That corner is also particularly dangerous if there is a risk of ice as it is permanently in shadow in the winter time, I watched 5 cars one morning each lose control and mounting the pavement, trying to avoid parked cars opposite my house.
    Despite frequent attempts, the council refused to install a grit bin on the 3-4 m wide grass verge. Something like a grit bin would indicate that extra caution may be required.

    I have my first driving test at 8am on saturday (in 2 days!) and I really hope I don't make any silly mistakes. As its so early on saturday I am hoping its going to be super quiet so I can focus more on ensuring all my checks etc are done compared to hoping other drivers dont pull out infront of me etc hahah

    Something even worse than failing your driving test is being told you're still not ready to take it! I've had like almost 100 hours now and three mock tests where I've made one serious error and a few minors in each so that's not awful but my instructor still feels I'm not quite there yet 😑😒😔.
    The mock tests I took aren't the worst and I've seen many people keep failing them days before their year and yet still go for their test. So I think I should but my instructor still feels like I'm not like the average learner, where usually you'll be able to pinpoint where the weaknesses are. For me the main issue is focus and my mistakes are slightly more random. He did say he can't really teach me anything new at this point because he feels I know what to do: I have all the skills to drive and have all the potential, very good car control etc but can't maintain the level for long enough due to lack of concentration. Like I'll drive really well for 30 mins and then make a mistake, dwell on it, lose focus then make another error and so on. Then my negative thoughts remind me how useless I am for taking this long. I guess what worries me is that if it's the case that I can't be taught anything new, then I may never be able to do this.
    I'm almost 40 so age doesn't help but after this many hours I should be there. It is really demoralising. I've had three instructors with some bad experiences with the previous two, some big gaps in between like a month with no driving.
    I feel very inadequate and worthless as a human being. I've never been that confident in myself so this isn't helping.
    I feel like there has to be something really wrong with me to fail like this. I'm already a failure in life, unfulfilling admin job, haven't had a relationship in many years. I wish I was never born. Hate what I've become.
    Anyway regardless, Monday I'll have a final mock test and then decide if I need to delay the test which will be difficult to accept after so many hours and lessons and money.

      Don't give up I failed my test today due to random error which I haven't made before. It happens. Just keep trying. You are a failure when you give up.

      @@Noname-wp6zt oh sorry to hear. Well I have an update, in my last lesson I drove up to test standard so my instructor is happy to put me forward for the test on Tues. So I'm relieved in that respect but obviously will be very nervous. When have you rebooked your test for?

      Something I learned and keeps me motivated is there no one who can cheers, motivates you better THAN YOURSELF, it's like learning to ride a bike, YES you will be scared, lost confidence, fell down several time but at the end it's your OWN mindset who will help you to get back on, don't be hard on yourself even it takes 50 more lessons YOU WILL SUCCEED🎉

      Hi
      How was the test?
      I felt the same. I had bad experiences with different instructors. Now I’m practicing with my husband. And I’m going to use his car. I’ve nothing to loose so I’ve to go for it. My test will be next month and the last one before my theory test run out in November.

    In terms of variety of roads, speed limits and conditions, I have to say that Burgess Hill isn't the best place to take a driving test. The roads are seemingly more complicated than the surrounding test centres and there are lots and lots of opportunities to fail your test. A good alternative would be Worthing test centre if you're able to book it!

    • @UKDrivingTest
      @UKDrivingTest  Рік тому

      Not sure what routes are like in Worthing, but Crawley is even more varied than Burgess Hill.

    i am riterd pilots with over 20000 hours of pilots in commads to my log book with zero incidents been in such status been driving cars all over the world left hand rights hand in all the over the world now settling inn the country the rule that i ahve to have english driving licence booked for test and have faild the test as i was slow in the country line
    now the driving cinter has very low pasing rate in google with so many complaints
    pls examiner look for safety driver rather than proceeder ,

    • @UKDrivingTest
      @UKDrivingTest  8 місяців тому

      Examiners do look for safety in my experience, but also need to show confidence where needed, such as on country roads.
      Driving too slow can be equally dangerous as other drivers will get agitated and try to overtake dangerously.

    Can anyone tell me why driver is starting from left lane and cutting accross into right lane while exiting the round about just after dual carriageway and then coming back to left lane? The driver could have kept in left lane? Time: ua-cam.com/video/AF8bRnbgEMM/v-deo.html

    • @UKDrivingTest
      @UKDrivingTest  8 місяців тому

      Given the roundabout and traffic is makes more sense to do what the driver did.
      Keeping to the middle lane does not effect anyone and flows better, if you kept to the left you would probably be overtaken.
      However i agree the roundabout is a poor design, it makes no sense why it splits into 3 lanes as you enter the roundabout, should stay as 2 lanes.

    Thanks for the videos covering BH test center, really useful! Regarding the national speed limit, there should be speed change signs on both sides, one however is wiped with a white paint, and maybe the paint is fainted on left side, does that mean that there are no speed limit changes? Thanks. Time: ua-cam.com/video/AF8bRnbgEMM/v-deo.html

    • @UKDrivingTest
      @UKDrivingTest  8 місяців тому

      Paint on the left sign looks perfect.
      sign on the right is sprayed over, correct, think its left from when they did some road works. The paint needs to be removed from the sign.
      the speed limit is still NSL as the sign on the left is still very clear.

      Like most places it will get busy around 8:30 - 9 due to school traffic.
      Before those times it should be fairly quiet, after those times it will be medium levels of traffic.

    I went down this exact road for my test and took your advice in the speed and i got failed fir it!
    It's really not safe to go as fast as national speed limit here but that doesn't mean the driving examiner won't fail you !

    • @UKDrivingTest
      @UKDrivingTest  9 місяців тому

      Which road do you mean?
      You need to drive at a suitable speed, thats not always the speed limit, might be the speed limit, might be 10 below it, 20 below it 50 below it!

    • @sypha0014
      @sypha0014 9 місяців тому

      @UKDrivingTest it was one of the shorter country roads, very bumpy with potholes, I went between 38-45 and was failed for not going fast enough

    • @UKDrivingTest
      @UKDrivingTest  9 місяців тому

      Difficult to comment without being there, but the examiner will know what they are talking about, its not them failing you, its just not driving to the correct standard, which is often misunderstood.
      I don't think the road will have been full of serious potholes and then expected to go over 40mph, you would have written the car off and gone into a hedge. Even at 38-45 this would have happened, so don't think the road will have been as bad as described.
      This video helps explain about speed choices. ua-cam.com/video/EvS2GFf0MX0/v-deo.html
      I also recommend you take your instructor along next time to help you understand where you are going wrong.

      I had a similar situation and failed too for going at a speed of 40-42 on a 60mph speed limit road. Same country one. My examinor even confirmed that it was because of driving slowly and not irregulary. Even though you mentioned to have a speed decided on basis of road and weather conditions, it does not really work that way in tests.
