    As teenagers we used to drink bulmars cider and rough it up the fields, penycae north Wales, in cheap Woolworths sleeping bags, we'd wake up 5am shivering with cold, probably close to hyperthermic looking back now,😂😂❤ good old 80s. It's probably why I love a warm bed now 😂😂😂😂

    Lovely evening Keitei and approach in. A good chance to talk about plans and reaffirm direction. I need to camp more to. The book appears interesting - you're an avid reader. Wish I had known about (if they were made) these camping mattresses. Not slept in a bivi bag since my teens in the late 90s going on weekend fishing trips.
    I guess bivi bag technology has come a long way since the army surplus bags from the 90s that felt so heavy and horrible to pack away

      I only started using my inflatable mattress and I noticed a huge difference in temperature after being off the floor.

    You must have been well insulated to have frost on your sleeping bag.
    Coldest night I've experienced my wet boots were frozen solid on the morning and I couldn't get them on. I had to hobble about until they melted enough for my feet to go all the way in.
    That said, the day before, our drinking tubes had frozen by about 1pm. On our way home in the morning it went from light snow to a white out in 10 minutes and about 30 minutes later we were losing our route under drifting snow.
    This was during mini beast from the east on Dartmoor about 5 years ago.

      @KeiteiVentures  Рік тому +2

    I've never seen an owl in the wild, not in 30+ years of wood walks and later, camping. I hear them but have never seen one. A Red Kite has appeared round my way now, trying to attack the smaller birds. The Ravens, Seagulls and Pigeons chase it off. It was pretty magical to see. East London too.
    I also saw my first hedgehog in about 15yrs 2 weeks ago. They used to be a regular thing. A fox was stalking it so I made a point of going out and shooing it away. Of course it just looked at me like I was an idiot. Their so emboldened. I ended up chasing down my street and around the bit of green out front. Running after it. It was only 23:15 a night and I was in my slippers. I'm sure it didn't look weird.

    • @KeiteiVentures
      @KeiteiVentures  Рік тому +3

      Ah I endeavour to film some of the local owls near me, I hear them often and hopefully with the lighter twilight hours I should see them.
      True, even though I live rurally, I haven't see a hedgehog in a while, I think they are in decline :(
