You mentioned rethinking the weight of your gear, I'd certainly suggest looking at kit that was the bees 🐝 knees a few years ago but that can now be picked up on the near new secondhand market at a tenth of its original price.
Thanks for that, Keitei. Very interesting to see what you took/needed for a one week self-supported hike. I particularly liked, "Eat what you like, not what you think you should eat." Words to live by!
Well I was definitely expecting the rucksack to weigh more than 8kg🤷♂. Think the most steps in a day I’ve ever managed was 40k but that was when my truck was in for MOT and around work… 70k is nuts!😆. Agree about eating what you want on trail👌x
Thanks Keitti, Ive really enjoyed watching your journey. I cant remember if I subscribed to you before the ones with Max, but I do know Ive seen your videos before. Im amazed that your kit only weighed 8kg - just goes to show that it can be done for a reasonable budget. Look forward to seeing some more of your stuff, especially the tiny house!
Hi Keitei...Great to see another blockbuster video from you and your crew.....Always good to get a new Vid......Hope you are well...You are a genuine natural.
I loved seeing the tattered rucksack, as it screams professional who knows what their talking about. As the information you’re imparting here in this video was learnt the hard way. Opposed to someone kitted out like a shop dummy with clothes and kit that looks like it was bought yesterday! You need to do more of this style of video, as you definitely have a knack for sharing invaluable information in an easy-to-understand format. Excellent video!
Thank you for saying 😊 glad it was useful. Am fond of all my gear but looks forward to a comfy new bag 😁 it has served me well though. Will aim to do a similar video at some point 👍
Surprised how light your base pack was but adding the camera gear, food and water etc I'm sure it was plenty heavy enough! As somebody who used to do a reasonable amount of hill walking I'm impressed by thirty mile days in amongst 20+ mile days! Not many people would be able to keep that up for consecutive days.
It's stoic to sleep on just that foam mat, they are not very thick. Also respect for using things until they wear out, that is eco. Do you do any specific training to prepare for that amount of miles each day? Enjoy your hiking 🌲🌲🌲
Thank you for stopping by 👍 I have a pretty active job where on some days I can hit 28,000 steps a day which helps. 😁 I often walk everywhere I can if I have the time. In terms of hiking with the weight, for me it comes down to a mind over matter thing. I know I can do it and I'm able to keep going. I don't train as such as I tend to take the first day or two slow and steady.
Im guessing 1.75L of water + food took your overall ruck to over 10kg, so almost 200 miles of weighted walking on mixed terrain this coast to coast was no joke. Well done!
Yo Keitei....all very interesting. You're very organized. I think your best tip was to enjoy the hike. I trail run/race and it always seems grounding to remind myself to enjoy the journey. Its odd how i need to remind myself of this...haha. I love the idea of 10 before 10. The world just seems fresher and freer in the earlier hours.
Definitely, I love hiking first thing and seeing no one but nature in the morning hours. Surprising how easy it is to forget to enjoy and appreciate the monent as were hiking or running along. 😁
Hi Keitei, I can imagine dozens of outdoor salesmen tutting at the thought they're not going to talk you into £2,500 worth of new gear. I started out with really budget gear then got caught up in the trap of having the latest and greatest. I've probably got £10,000 of old gear stashed in the loft. As with plumbing bits and bobs that we discussed months ago I tend to hang onto stuff. Luckily I have the space. Now I hardly buy any new posey gear. If I need anything I "snipe" it off of Ebay second hand but good quality makes. I laugh to myself when walking through places like Ambleside spotting posers with expensive gear that never sees real hills, sweat and mud. I like to think I'm older and wiser, probably just older and wider🤣😂. Cheers Graham
Thank you saying and watching Graham. 👍 Definitely, eBay is a great place to buy things. Not a big spender but I use to buy most things brand new off Amazon. Glad that I switched to eBay and Vinted for better value for my money. 👍
Hi Keitei. Met you briefly at your work this morning after I'd finished the C2C. Your sister told me you had a UA-cam channel. Wish I'd known you'd done the C2C because 7 days is incredible. Looking forward to another attempt (with less rain!), hopefully catch you next time!
Thank you for checking out my content Jonno. Cheers 😁 I think I found a video online of someone hiking it in under just 5 days 😲 The C2C is a great hike, yeah shame about the weather so far this year 🌧️ hopefully the rest of the summer will pick up. ☀️ Happy hiking 🥾

It's the sign of experience to dial down the kit to that weight and still have everything you need, I'll get there one day!

I was too 🎒 was expecting it to weigh more. Though when it is packed out with food and water, you can definitely feel the difference. 😁 x
That is so cool. Thank you so much for answering my question about extra mileage for filming.
You're welcome, it was interesting to find it out 😁
It’s lovely to see someone using things until they are worn out rather than just changing for the sake of change
They serve me well 👍

Great video. Interesting, informative, and a special mention for the famous hat. Nice one Keitei 👍 😊
Glad you enjoyed it, many thanks.
Only downside of summer is my hat is too hot to wear 😁

Thank for saying, yep can definitely feel the difference when I leave a town with a few days of food and water loaded 😄.
You have agood day to thank you Katie .
Thank you, you too! ☀️
Great explanation of all ya kit👍
Cheers, glad it was helpful 🙂
yes to light coloured trousers ( Pants if in US / Canada / Australia ) being able to see Ticks is both handy & creepy

Yep, I could certainly feel the weight of it at the end of each day. 😁
