What has been your first wild camping experience? Or are you thinking going one day?

    Great video!
I think going solo the first time is always challenging. Yet you overcame your trepidation & went for it.
We all have made similar mistakes on the journey. At least you embraced your situation & carried on.
You remained positive & kept a smile on your face, and appreciated the beautiful countryside you were experiencing.
Keep going & I hope you have more happy trails ahead for you.

Some were lucky enough to be introduced to hiking and wild camping at a very young age by their parents or scouts. For them it's second nature. Hiking and wild camping like so many other skills are much harder to obtain and master later in life. Congratulations for persevering and now enjoying it. I know the Pentland Way well, and have done it as an overnighter twice, being on my doorstep. I really enjoy it for its solitude.

Yeah I agree. I was introduced to a lot of hiking growing up as well but all the paths were very well marked :D, just a bit less of wild camping, but we still did some with my parents - more of coming to a lake and stay there than really carrying all the gear...a lot changed over the years though definitely new camping kits still are somewhat new to me plus a lot have to do with anxiety of a solo woman doing these things. But it's all coming back to me and I am growing more confident doing so as I love the solitude. So thank you for encouragement :) Pentlands were my safe space over the years living in Edinburgh, love the hills so much. Its blessing you have them on the doorstep.

I really enjoyed that Eva. Tough in places but a good exercise for getting better next time. Avec lecture de carte you just have to have it out every minute and watch all the features as they pass by. Good camp - hope you scattered the fire and left it neat. I'm sure you did. Quant aux ampoules - it's down to training back home. When you are walking around town or on day hikes put some weight in your bag or sack. I call it silent training. You have to tell your feet and body what to get used to. I've always got weight in my bags. As they say, 'train hard - fight easy.' All the best out there - fantastic trip. Mark

Thanks. It was an interesting one as I am quite good in reading maps and yet I just got lost from the start as I rather followed the mark than what I thought was right. Oh well, it happens, learning process :D The weights is a great advice, I try that, well said 'train hard - fight easy' :D I did scattered the fire, always do even carry extra water just for that. Thanks for watching Mark.

@@evachjourney A pleasure Eva. Good to hear you're alright with map reading usually. Ha, I get lost. For sure just carry a little extra weight in your every day bag - it works - it's about prepping. Yeah, the saying is right on. Hey, nice one I thought you might have cleaned up. Peace.
