Hi, thanks for sharing this info. I have an auto dimming rear view mirror, with map lights, that the gel between the glass, has screwed up, and I am left with a large oval darker bubble spot in the center, so I am researching anything to do with repairing. I do not care if I ever have auto dimming again, so was thinking about doing what you have done here. Like, if there was some way to separate the 2 pieces of glass, and clean off the residual gel, so that I would not have this two-toned thing going on in my mirror! Thanks to you, I now know that I was on the right track! Unfortunately, it seems that my rearview mirror will be a bit more complicated, so...I just don't know if I should. Anyhoo...sorry for the novel! Have a great day!
Hello! It's alright! They all work in the same way, but if you decide to take on the task, just remember to wear gloves and wash your hands if you get it into you, although I don't believe it's dangerous. It's a relatively simple job! Hopefully you can get it sorted out 😊👍
Tough one.. if brake cleaner won't remove it, I'm not sure what will.. you could try isopropyl alcohol. Other than that, it's probably a "Polish it out" job
