I have the 14060 with the 3000 movement. I have had it since 1998. its plus 2 seconds a day. The bracelet has never failed and I actually still dive with it and what you describe has never ever happened to me in twenty years. I suspect you may not dive so I think the criticisms are disingenuous. Actually, the 14060 is now becoming a total classic and will gain in value. I will never see this as I will never sell mine
Man, great video ! Your thoughts are spot on with the way I feel. I like the 2 text line and it's the simplest purist looking piece in my collection. I have the ss daytona ceramic and 2 deepseas and I seem to always go back to the no date submariner 14060m.
The engraved "ring" was introduced by Rolex as a security feature to make it harder to fake these watches not to make it more flashy as of yet no fake watch maker has been able to replicate that yet.
I have a 14060 circa 1990. I have the tritium lume that’s started to patina. I love that I’ll be wearing it for years and watching it gradually turn creamish yellow as we experience life together. I’m not a diver other than desk diving. In my opinion, the 14060 is the purist’s Submariner.
Great to see the good feedback on my video. I will add more reviews and give my take of different model Rolex's as they wander in and out of my collection. Cheers
I paid an extra thousand for the 16610 with engraved Rehaut.Nobody see’s it but I do and I love it being a bit of new on a older watch. I also love the aluminum insert verse the shiny ceramic. Just my likes and I understand everyone is different but I feel like it sits perfectly on the wrist. Edit: I wish I bought five when they were under 5k and GMT’s were 5k Nice 👍
Thanks for the review. I have to disagree with you about the stamped clasp though. I would expect better quality on a watch that expensive. I feel like those old Rolex clasps & hollow end links would be expected on an $80 Seiko 5. That being said those are both beautiful watches! I hope you enjoy them in good health
The stamped clasp is lighter, but in no way compromises the quality and detail. It cannot be compared with the clasp found on an $80 Seiko, because the Seiko clasp edges and corners would be sharp and unrefined, looking cheap and feeling cheap. I happen to have both these watches.
Nodate wins as the cyclops is ugly as shit. However, I would go for the 14060 instead of 14060m. The former is even more understated with just two lines of dial imprint. 4 lines stating how super-duper superlative blabla the chronometer is is just ridiculous.
Great Review and choice of "your favorite pick" between the two models. I am definitely looking to purchase my 1st 14060M very soon to add to my very small collection. I love an understated watch and the 2 line, no date is the Rolex to keep. Like my Tudor BBH-blue, it will be worn: swimming, shooting, working on bikes/cars, and everything else I normally do. It's a tool watch, not a showpiece to look at and never use! Thank you for making it a point to stress the Tool Watch part; enjoyed your review and opinion! I agree with you, if I'm on the shooting range or swimming in the ocean, I don't need to know the date! Semper Fi
I have a 16610. Thinking about unloading it for a 114060. Should I? I know people don’t like the thicker lugs, but I have 8” wrists and I think I can get used to the bigger size.
I agree with your choice. I love the no date version, but I also have the Hulk green version with the date. Both of them are hard for me to stop staring at them.
Hey there. Which would you choose as your first Rolex? A Submariner 16610 d-serial 2005 full set, or a full set 114060 no date sub from 2018. The two pieces are equally priced. (:
After comparing for about a year I went with the 2 line 14060M. Hate a cyclops, don't need a date, minimal text, the stamped rehauts are as you said "stupid" and the ceramic bezels just look cheap to me.
Great video. Live my 16610. Have to disagree on the rehaut, though. Not "blingy" at all. Very subtle text for some nice detail on a brushed ring. Now the new subs are "blingy" overall. I can't stand them.
Not 25 years ago when I got mine. Most of the divers that had one were dates. The new ones have also lost the through hole from the earlier 16610's, combined with a less elegant case. Let's face it all dive watches have become relics with the advent of computers. Also most of the people I know who have one have never been diving. Of course to each his own.
I love the 2 tone also but will probably be going with the no date. I would like to buy preowned but not sure where to look here in the Midwest. Nice job on the video.
I imagine anything is possible, but i believe it would throw off the weight and i believe all watches should be worn in their original form as they were engineered to be worn. If you want the glidelock maybe go for the 114060?
I dont think thats what hes asking, i think he is asking if only the glidelock clasp can be swapped out.. which i have seen before in forums but it would take a professional to accomplish
oops my bad reading it too quick. apologies. To make up for my rashness I did do a quick search, and yes, multiple people have confirmed that it is possible to swap the clasp to the new glidelock clasp.
I value your opinion about people spotting the watch as a Rolex but I feel aything worn on steel will draw more attention then on different straps like nato's etc. The lack of the cyclops does help to make it fly a bit more under the radar. Personally I sold the bracelet because I never ever wear it on steel. Stupid maybe from a financial point of view but since it's my watch I don't value a bracelet I am never going to wear. Only kept the watch head and wear it on a nato all the time. It is now in for it's first service, looking forward to wearing it again in a few weeks! I asked RSC to not polish the watch. How do you feel about the 5513 with matte dial and plexi? I always liked the look of that watch but the sapphire and updated cal of the 14060 may be better for everyday wear. I only bought the 14060 because it was the only "no date" available back at the time and the 5513 I was going to buy had a replacement dial with lume. For people thinking about this watch your video shows the quality of it. After wearing it everyday for over 10 years it never failed me, keeping great time and handling everything I throw at it. It is very strong, durable and perfect for telling the time.
Thanks for the comment, I'll throw mine on a NATO from time to time for a difference in look! the 5513 with matte and plexi is a hell of a watch, but definitely not an everyday wearer IMO... plus the lume wont work at night so i think its a good one for the collection but not everyday of course. I dont own any vintage yet but that is on the dreamsheet for one day.
I've the 14060m and the bracelet in your video simply needs "tightening". I don't have time to explain in full but you can do it yourself and it takes a few minutes. My bracelet is now tight as when it was sold new.
Hey man why did you say on the video that "most people dont think its a rolex" and you dont like people asking if its a rolex and how much is etc etc.... it is exactly the same lol, the difference its just the date, did you mean that people dont assume its a rolex or maybe fake if it doesn't have a date??? I am thinking of buying one with the date now that im reading your review :) regards!!
I think its just a group setting kind of thing. I don't normally hang out with wealthy people, usually just other middle class such as myself. I am not a show-off kind of person, and among my peers most think having a $4k watch is pure insanity. Whether I wear a date or no date they still don't know or really care for that matter. And when I say fly under the radar, I mean it doesn't scream "hey I cost a shitload of money" it just looks like a normal stainless watch to most people unless someone truly knows what it is, then we have a great conversation about it which is what I prefer.
Oh ok I got you. For me it is about the watch too, not about the price I would consider buying the Sub even if the watch was $500 instead of 5k. Ive been in love with the watch for years. lol
i didn't like submariner at all and after this video i want a 14060 no date:) The prices are crazy, your watch is worth almost thre times the price now. But maybe it is still worth it?
Not being funny but, you vocally make it sound easy to own several of these watches " Get both" etc you arrogantly say. Most normal people I know struggle with money and to buy the two tone date sub or date SS sub isn't really helpful. I've owned a 14060 over 20yrs now but I couldn't afford to buy the other models also. Too many young rich kids with all the gear but no idea collecting watches today IMO.Buy an apple watch and shove it where the sun don't shine boy.
Just saying its funny to see people assume... I am as middle class as they come and far from being "rich" by any means. I have kept my 14060 after 5 years and sold/traded off everything else because I have sentimental value with the 14060. My collection is always changing but that piece will always stay. Ask questions before you assume things clown
Slipstream why don't I slap on some white rolex gloves and shoot with a $1500 DLSR camera with a macro lens instead of my GoPro too? This is an informational video not a hands on in depth review of each watch. Lighten up
I also have both of them . my 16610 is 2006 (z series) and 14060 is 2000 model. I agree with you on liking the no date better .
If I had the money for it I'd definitely go for no date , without a doubt!
I have the 14060 with the 3000 movement. I have had it since 1998. its plus 2 seconds a day. The bracelet has never failed and I actually still dive with it and what you describe has never ever happened to me in twenty years. just a brilliant review and helped me decide on my next watch will be the 14060M thankyou
The engraved "ring" was introduced by Rolex as a security feature to make it harder to fake these watches not to make it more flashy as of yet no fake watch maker has been able to replicate that yet.
Tom Smyth fake watches have had it for years, even before rolex started doing it
One of the best Sub reviews I've seen. You should make more videos.
I have two datejusts and the yachtmaster with the date. I love the sub though with no date. It just looks so true to the original .

Good choice, I had my eye on the sub 5 dig but ended up getting the 114060 because of the clasp and the clean dial

Thank you for the detail review, I will go for 14060M
Thanks for the review. I have to disagree with you about the stamped clasp though. I would expect better quality on a watch that expensive. Would the bracelet from the 16610 fit on the 14060M?
Nodate wins as the cyclops is ugly as shit. However, I would go for the 14060 instead of 14060m. The former is even more understated with just two lines of dial imprint. 4 lines stating how super-duper superlative blabla the chronometer is is just ridiculous.
Totally agree with your comments on the engraved rehaut.

Great review, im new in horology and i will appreciate if you point me where to buy the 14060M. Thanks
I agree with your choice. I love the no date version, but I also have the Hulk green version with the date. Both of them are hard for me to stop staring at them.

It's funny how fads come and go. 20 years ago, no one wanted the no date. Now it's "the go to."
Most hardcore watch lovers still don't want a date
Not 25 years ago when I got mine. Most of the divers that had one were dates. The new ones have also lost the through hole from the earlier 16610's, combined with a less elegant case. Let's face it all dive watches have become relics with the advent of computers. Also most of the people I know who have one have never been diving. Of course to each his own.
No more 3000-3500$ for 14060m... I have it and i love it
The Rolex Sub is a beautiful watch and meanwhile a cult object.
I love the 2 tone also but will probably be going with the no date. I would like to buy preowned but not sure where to look here in the Midwest. Nice job on the video.
Check out TRF rolex forum, can get great deals there from reputable sellers
Great review. Nicely done. Thank you.
Why the bracelet feel cheap? and it feel light
Very well spoken. Great video
Very nice review Baba,thank You.
Was your clasp mod with the spring bar permanent, or easily reversible?
marshal bass reversible. You are just adding a spring bar. I shaved the bar itself down too so it’s flush. Years later still doing great same bar
very informative review, thanks a lot!
So..how much did you pay for it?
i like this review. thank you.
Does the 14060M 4-liner have the improved bracelet and clasp like the 16610?
James Hsu no it doesn't. All 14060 subs have the same style as far as I know.
Thanks!
Is it possible to change the clasp on the 14060m to the Rolex glide clasp and how much would that run?
I imagine anything is possible, but i believe it would throw off the weight and i believe all watches should be worn in their original form as they were engineered to be worn. If you want the glidelock maybe go for the 114060?
Not possible. The new SEL on the six digit sub will NOT fit the old 16610 case, lug holes are at different position. Tried and tested personally.

Great video. What is your wrist size?
thanks! about 6.5
I have been thinking the 14060 or the 16660 SD. Good vid.
Thanks! and both great choices!
are you still selling the 2005 date?
no but I have 2-3 other date subs I will be selling. PM me if interested.
Without a doubt I go for with date!
Rolex glues on the cyclops.
The boxes though....
When did Rolex start adding the solid links to the date Sub?
the switch began to happen in the early to mid 2000s I believe accompanied by the no holes cases
Great review and I agree. Having owned both, the 'no date' is THE one.
I've the 14060m and the bracelet in your video simply needs "tightening". I don't have time to explain in full but you can do it yourself and it takes a few minutes. My bracelet is now tight as when it was sold new.
Wrong boxes

Tose prices really shot up.
You ain’t lying! I paid $1500 and $4k for the 2 in this video. Can’t remember if I said that or or
„under the radar“? Really?!xD
Rolex Sub as the rolex of all rolexs‘- everyone knows it
Only no date watch I would buy is a Daytona
Under the radar? Probably people think it is just a Steinhart. ( just kidding )
they are now very overpriced
Definitely 14060m
I vomited when you said the price. Damn you 2021.
Great vid ! this topic is always gonna be the first world problem haha ..
I like the gold Submariner
So what? Nothing to do with this review!
If you are selling any subs, drop me a message. Regards
i've currently got 2 date subs and a ceramic GMT for sale. PM me if interested
Baba Ganoush you selling a sub?
16610
ummm...
Les deux dont de belles montres
Stop wiping the f'ing crystal ffs. You're making it worse. Use a cloth.

So many haters
