  • My spare tire mount from Rotopax broke almost as soon as I used it. The company has very good customer service and gave me a full refund, however, I am shocked at the design. Well, we have the technology to fix it! #rotopax #sparetiremount #rotopaxmount

Wow that’s crazy, props to you for your engineering solution. I bought one within the past year and am about to finally install it with a hurricane heading this way. I think they’ve re-designed this piece because the one I have is way more similar to your approach and critiques. They might’ve actually listened to you!

Very nice work! I was going to order one of those not realizing the mounting place was upside down for my Teraflex carrier. It would have failed like yours with a 5 gallon steel Jerry can + Front Runner can holder bolted to it. I'm looking at either the ACE or the EVO MFG one now... Thanks for saving me and others on the Rotopax one :)

You are very welcome! Im glad you found the video useful. Both of those appear to be high quality I do not think you'll have a problem with either. Thank you!

Great fix and you are 100 percent correct that's how it should have been out of the box. I plan to do exactly as you did when I get mine.

Great video! I'm gonna have to do something similar to my JKU. I had cobbled a 4 gallon rotopax water stacked with a 4 gallon gas onto a Tule spare tire bike rack (yeah too heavy I know now). Worked for a while but eventually folded like a taco after I gained "unintentional air" at big bend national park. The trail fix involved a spare ratchet strap and duck tape a lot of beating the rack with a rubber hammer using a picnic table as an anvil. Very helpful vid, Like your channel just subscribed.

Thank you, its much appreciated! Wow sounds like you had one heck of an adventure. All good trail fixes involve duck tape and ratchet straps.

Good work!!! Why do you buy anything!? It seems you can design and build em yourself .

Take my money, what would you charge to fab this up and ship to NJ?

I'm not sure, honestly. I never made this video to sell anything to anyone, just trying to bring light to a problem with a product.

No worries, it's a great video, very well done. Great solution to a problem Rotopax should have properly engineered out of it.

    Obvious misuse of the product

Honestly I thought so too. I called the company before purchasing and explained my use. They said the mount was built to handle my usage. I called when this happened before making this video. They where unsure as to why the mount would not hold up. Clearly it is not designed well enough. Their customer service was pleasant to deal with.

I'm so glad you were there and watched how it failed. Also do you have proof that's its misuse of the product? I've seen a lot of his videos and i don't think hes the kind of person to misuse a product.

Honestly, I’m not sure how someone would miss use the product to start with. It only goes on one way. Maybe you could elaborate.

@@EmbarkWithMark The extension part that was weeded on at the factory got welded on upside down.

You’d think so, but they sent me a second one and it’s welded up the same exact way. It’s possible they’ve changed things since this video though.
