It took me a year of watching UA-cam videos and cutting down a long list of exhausts for my STI. The AWE Track Edition made the cut. I wouldn’t want any other exhaust on my car.
This makes me happy. I bought the track edition yesterday. I can't wait to get it installed and eventually get it tuned with a j pipe etc. Solid vid!!!
I don’t think that’s a worthy cause to get rid of a great sounding exhaust. Fitment can be resolved by longer exhaust bushings and can easily get better quality clamps.
Your neighbour’s are likely not going to as pleased as you are with this new catback set up. 🤣🤣 The real test will come on a long drive, that is often the measure of how much you truly 💯 are satisfied.
My clamps broke too when I was installing them. I want to Nappa hardware store And they sell hood quality clamps for around 10-15 dollars. They fit perfectly
I also have the AWE Track edition exhaust. I found out today that two of the tips were loose and upside down as I was coming out of a 7/11 earlier today. Hopefully the clamps are giving already either. I also love the tone of this exhaust.
@@Autofreakgarage they also sell their own polish for their exhaust tips… but I’m pretty content with Eagle One Never Dull when cleaning the chrome tips.
I actually will be getting my AWE Track exhaust this week, even though I’m an FA, meh. Good to see that you didn’t have too much of an issue, besides those clamp, may have to look into getting new ones
Weird about the fitment of the tips, I also have the touring on my 2020 and the tips dont touch the bumper at all, i could slide a sheet of paper in there. Maybe its the carbon piece you have there? Not sure
Thanks for sharing what you would use to clean the exhaust! Would you recommend using the polish on tips or would that be too harsh? Also thanks for sharing the sound clips! Sounds surprisingly similar to the ETS Extreme w/ Resonator (considering you have ELH), but with the added benefit of being bale to switch between track and touring! Will definitely be considering AWE when I go ELH!
You can use on tips no problem. I’ve used this stuff on just about every exhaust finish (other than colorerd tips like the awe) and it shines right up. It sounds gnarly in person. The clip didn’t do it any justice. I’ll be doing a full sound video next week so hopefully I can do the sound justice.
"Hopefully it's not too loud cause it's 10 o'clock at night" haha. Yeah have the same exhaust in both versions and the track one is roudy for sure especially when you get on it. Curious to get your driving impressions.
Not sure if you have considered an Invidia R400 but I have one on my WRX and it sounds nice and deep with minimal drone if you’re still shopping for options. Still sounds nice tho so keep it up!
Love your car brother, I gave my built blob eye to my son, sold my 19 Raptor 🤦♂️ and picked up a new 21 WR blue limited sti. I love your whelk set up, do you have any rubbing? I want the exact wheels and tires, can you tell me the specs on it please? Thanks
I’m thinking of joining the cult and getting a WRX. I’ve never owned a subie nor have I ever owned a AWD car. I’ve currently got a 2018 civic Si. Would it be a good trade and also what year should I get? I’m thinking maybe at the oldest a 2017?
The finishers don’t go under so they don’t even touch the tips. It’s the bumper that actually touches. I even trimmed all the plastic out and it still hits.
do you ever rub with how low you’re sitting ? that’s exactly how low i want to go with my meaty tires lol. But haven’t because of rubbing issues on hard dips.
I’d get the longer exhaust hangers ASAP. Your bumper and carbon pieces well melt where the tips are touching rather quickly. The exhaust shouldn’t be rubbing like that.
@@marksamonds6641 you must not drive it much, but either way it shouldn’t be touching like that. Grimmspeed makes some decent exhaust hangers that are 12mm and have different holes for adjustment.
They were already melted from an older setup. I actually cut all that out so there’s hardly any plastic left. I ran it like that for 4 years and no issues other then the plastic melting a bit.
Hey man have you had an problems with the 2020 front bumper on your 2017 sti over the past year? Also did the subiespeed light bezels wire right into the OEM harness?
Do you know if the awe track catback will need a tune? Also from your old video i saw a gauge located where the cigarette lighter is locater, whats thats gauge called
Hye man quick question regarding your 2020 bumper conversion. Did you have to buy a bracket to hold the grille of the new bumper? or does the grille just pop into place?
How stiff is your track edition? Mine can easily be jiggled back and forth slightly, I can’t tell if it’s just cause I have the oem hangers still and they arnt stiff. Just curious from someone else
Stiff? Any movement is due to the rubber bushings. It’s supposed to have some movement. When it heats up, it expands and moves. Having solid bushings and it not movable would cause a lot of drone and unwanted resonance in the cabin.
Its funny that companies call a straight pipe version “track” or track spec… Most tracks have DB limits and something that loud would get you black flagged.
Awesome Video! I just got my AWE Touring exhaust (New) and overall I'm happy with the fitment (I have the grimmspeed adjustable hangers) and sound is perfect! Quality however is poor for the price I paid. Exhaust was scratched up here and there and there was a small dent on my muffler and another dent on an exhaust tip (all hidden once on the car). It basically felt as if I bought a used exhaust new. . . lol. I still however would buy the exhaust again if I had the chance. I Also noticed my exhaust tips have an integrated clamp rather then yours that broke. No clue if I have a newer design or the chrome tips differ from the black.
Yes I bought the touring new. Just got the track muffler used since it was a good deal and they are out of stock. Yeah qc on them is a little iffy. Coming from the Cobb titanium catback, it was a big downgrade in overall aesthetic. However, it sounds extremely good considering. Interesting. Not sure if the chrome have different clamps, but would be odd if so. I got the exhaust brand new so I should have the most updated version. Not a big deal, but still disappointing.
@@Autofreakgarage I think that's another cool aspect with AWE is having those interchange axleback portions. True very disappointing indeed. looking forward to the next video!
I had that exhaust for about 1.5 years on my car. I really enjoyed the tone of that exhaust but once you are on the freeway doing 60+ mph there was a lot of drone. Also my car would have a lot of interior rattles with that exhaust. Since swapping over to the Invidia Q300, I don't have nearly as much interior rattles for my car. All in all, I think the Q300 is the better all around exhaust option especially since I have an aftermarket downpipe aswell and headers soon.
R400 produces good tone. It was one I wanted to try at some point. I’ve heard some fitment issues with the invidia exhausts over the years, so I can’t comment on that. But it seems most people are happy it’s the r400, but as mentioned above, it does drone.

I love my awe track on my FA Wrx. Perfect tone for equal length headers.
Agreed!!
Still waiting for this exhaust for my 13' STI to arrive!
I have this exhaust on my 2015 wrx (fa20) with a catless down pipe and I couldn’t be more in love
I also broke a tip clamp from my kit. The black also wore off from the poor fitment. So glad I got rid of it.

AWE Track has my vote 😇🤙🏽
Mine too 👍🏻
Love my awe track on my wrx. Best low tone sound
only one for thing to make ur sti super clean, volk ze40s, the best wheel setup for subarus, have them on my 04 sti, highly recommend
Yes that’s the plan for spring 2022.
Also the tip finish is warrantied on AWE. Get those warrantied and longer hangers

Buddy of mine had a awe track and touring on his focus rs and he had the same issues with the clamps breaking on his.
Seems to be a common occurrence with the clamps they use.
Also side note, I had the r400 and the tone was great. The drone, not so much lol

One side track, other side touring… I wonder how that would sound?🤔
Don’t tempt me.

Were the exhaust tips rubbing because of the finishers you have or did that not even matter?
The finishers don’t go under so they don’t even touch the tips. It’s the bumper that actually touches. I even trimmed all the plastic out and it still hits.

No issues. It’s an OEM bumper so it’s been just fine. The Subispeed jdm bezels are tapped to the battery so they don’t plug into the OEM harness.
