Hi Paul, I trust you are well and that your garden is showing signs of spring 😊
Hello Pauline, yes - I’m fine thank you.
I’m just away at the moment having to spend a lot of time on my day job.
Hopefully I’ll get the garden looking good on my return.
Thank you for your nice message. 🌻
😊😊😊
Everything is looking lovely covered in frost. So pleased to see the little Robin. He's looking very healthy Paul.
Thank you Wendy - the robin certainly can eat a lot. I’m always surprised when it comes back for seconds.
Good afternoon, Paul!
Your hostas are lovely. I enjoy all your evening animals along with the pretty birds
.... yes, even the snails 🐌 🤣 .
Your acer palmatum is so pretty. As always, I enjoyed your beautiful garden.
Thanks for sharing 👍 😊
Hi Maria, that’s so nice enjoying all the flora and fauna - thank you for enjoying the whole garden 🌸
Hello "Paul T's World"! Thank you for showing us such a wonderful video! I feel so happy! I look forward to your next work! Have a nice day!
Nice to hear from you and thank you for enjoying my video.
Good morning Paul! What a joy to see you feeding the little robin! The garden still looks wonderful!
The robin loves it when I spend time in the garden as there’s lots going on for him. It was a lovely frosty morning Maria.
Fascinating winter tour Paul, Mr Robin stole the show for me, thank you for caring for him ❤
Glad you enjoyed seeing the robin Julie. I see him and give him something to eat every single day.
Even in winter, your garden is lovely. The kiss of frost makes it magical!
Thank you JC, it was a good frost - nice and early in the season so everything still standing.
Loved your frosty tours. Still many colourful plants to look at.
Thank you Doreen, it certainly was a nice early frost this year.
THANKS PAUL🤗 I HOPE YOU ARE DOING WELL…AS YOUR GARDENS ARE DOING 😁💚💚💚
Good morning! Everything good here - very mild and a bit wet. Enjoy the holiday period 🎄
Thank you, nice to see your garden, you and your little robin,Happy Holidays to all
Happy Holiday to you too Suzie - so pleased you like seeing my garden helper - the robin.
I remember watching you plant the shed bed. How its grown! Fantastic job
Thank you Davina, It is amazing how quickly plants grow and a bed fills up. I’m delighted with it.
Always a joy to see Mr. Robin! I have a little yellow rumped warbler couple that visits my feeders every day this time of year. I look forward to seeing them.
I'm with you on not wanting to do too much with plants in the winter. I like plants that can tough it out.
How nice to have regulars that you get to know and see every day. 👍
Your garden looks so pretty even in winter Paul.❤
Thank you Alicia. 🌻
Lovely tour Paul, thank you. The tree will look lovely draped in honeysuckle, great idea. Nice seeing your little friend.
Thank you Lil, I have high hopes that honeysuckle will completely cloth the dead tree - so far so good!
Hi Paul, your garden looks like a winter wonderland ❄️
I love seeing your little Robin friend, he/she is so poofy and cute.
Happy holidays to you and your family:)
It did look lovely - it's now drowned with lots of rain and also wind-blown! The robin and I have been pals for a year now - time flies! Have a lovely Christmas Sue.
@@paultsworld I know you will help your little friend make it through the winter.
Roll on Spring!! 🌹🪻🌸🌺🌻
Spring - and the robin - are my friends! 👍🌸
Hi Paul, how lovely to see another of your videos. I was struck by how absolutely beautiful the pond was. Mother Nature worked her magic with the frost. I remember when you started the shed bed. It has certainly come a long way 😁 I’ve tried to take cuttings from one of my clematis a couple of times with no luck. If you have any advice I would sure appreciate it. Regards to the little guy 😊❤️
Hello Vicki, I agree, the pond looked great and the light just about managed to shine on part of it. Thank you, I am pleased with the shed bed - it’s evolving.
I think the best time to take the clematis cuttings is after the flowers have finished and the new stems are growing strongly. These make good cuttings. Hopefully I’ll do a video in the Summer. I’ve found the montanas take well, I haven’t tried the large flower types as I’ve given up on them because of clematis wilt.
The robin is doing well 👍
Wow so magical with that frosty thank you for sharing your beautiful garden Paul watching before going to work. 🎄👍🙏❤️😊 from USA
That’s nice of you to check out my video before leaving the house. Have a nice week 👍
Now you have a White Garden Paul, so pretty too. It accentuates the great variety of plants you have now. We had so much rain that hydrangeas lost their Winter shapes; no dried flower arrangements this year. Bugs on house plants a bugbear; I've one, a huge Christmas cactus, now covered in brilliant pink flowers. They make an awful mess!
That was a really good frost, all gone now of course. I’m really pleased I went out and photographed it as it wasn’t there long.
We’ve also had plenty of rain - not as much as you but enough to flatten most of the spent stems.
Christmas cacti look good, a huge one must be impressive - mine are just about over now.
@@paultsworld I bought a scrappy little thing with two vivid pink flowers in 1975. Since then I gave away three off shoots; mine is now 40 years old: it's on a tall iron stand, now with nearly 6 ft.ball of flowers.
That is enormous!
I cannot wait for the spring 🥰
😀 my sentiments entirely! 🌸👍
I just finished doing the lawns 10am here in Sydney and I am drowning in sweat in the humid weather. Went inside turned the AC on sat down and watched your latest. Jealous, you betcha 😂😂😂😂 love the garden
Sounds like you did a job well done - I always like the cold when it's hot in the Summer but I'm not keen on a prolonged cold spell once Winter arrives - roll on April for me!
Merry Christmas to you and your dear little robin friend!
Thank you - and a lovely Christmas to you too.
Even in the winter your garden looks beautiful! I love this little robin! ❤
Happy holidays! 🌲
Thank you. When it’s frosty it does look nice. A Happy Holiday to you too! 🌻
Hiya Paul, Thanks for sharing your garden in winter with us.
You’re welcome Joanna!
i planted a dahlia bulb last yr..dug it up.its huge..ill be splitting it and see what grows
That’s a good idea to split large dahlias. I’ll split some of mine after the frosts when the first shoots are showing.
Hi paul . The view of the snow on the plants looks so beautiful .If you cover the apyssinian banana to protect it . Have anice day .🎄
Hi Lina, I will see about covering it - it would be great if it survived outside but I’m not very optimistic.
Good Morning Paul and Mr Robin, another crispy frost! I am not a big fan of Winter and frosts but I could teleport there right now to cool off... too bloody hot here! bahahaha! Hmmm I wonder if the Abyssinian will survive, do you think it has a remote chance? such a beauty.
Morning Margaret, the crispy frost has now gone...roll on Spring! I said it wouldn't survive because I have heard it doesn't take lower than 5C - however I'm going to mulch it and see what happens - fingers crossed. Enjoy your 'warm' temperatures lol
The frost is so beautiful on the plants!
It was a rare moment so even more special as we don’t get many deep frosts like this.
Yes! It is the same for me here in Switzerland! A magical moment indeed! @@paultsworld
Greetings to 🇨🇭
Lovely videos as usual paul. I wish you and your family a very happy Christmas. God bless x🎄🌲
Thank you Catherine, have a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours. 🌸🎄 🇮🇪
Great video 🇳🇿
Thank you 👍
Lovely winter tour. Must say, that dear robin steals the show tho, wish I had some sweet friendly little.birds. I'm leaving my dahlias this yr, I did 2 yrs and lost quite a few. Hoping they'll be good this yr, I am going to move some. We've yet to have a hard frost but ya never know, my Granddaughter is bummed, she said it's turned too warm to enjoy Christmas music.
If you want to add extra help for the dahlias maybe cover them when a fair bit of rain is forecast, as it's the wet (then cold) that will kill them. I sometimes do that but I then afterwards I take off the cover because I think the soil needs to 'breath' and be aired.
I know what your Granddaughter means - snow is Christmassy and rain dull weather just isn't!
@@paultsworld
I'll try to remember to cover some. I do have clay soil, but it's gotten much better over the yrs. The first yr I left them I covered the whole garden with a good layer of wood chips, still didn't save some.
Our temps are more like spring than winter, I have dandelions blooming, my coming 14 day forecast has us with, 50 - 58* 8 of those days. Nope not very wintery at all here.
Dandelions flowering - definitely not Christmassy - but whatever the weather I hope you have a lovely Christmas 🎄
@@paultsworld
Thank you, I hope yours is lovely as well.
He really loves you, that sweet little Robin ❤🥰
You know when your pond freezes over overnight? Does that mean certain creatures might suffocate coz they can’t get air? I’ve got newts, toads, whirligig beetles, caddis fly larvae and pond snails - I worry about them! 😢I make sure to defrost it as soon as I get up…
He certainly loves the food and I think likes to generally hang out with me when I'm out in the garden.
I think it's a good idea to clear the pond if you can. It's difficult to know how much the ice affects the pond life - luckily this time the ice didn't last long. Many of my newts leave the pond in August and then hibernate in the back of the garden where there are wood piles and chipped bark, only coming back to the pond in March.
Hello, Paul! I must tell you that despite the cold and the recent snowfall, I haven't got many birds in the garden (yet). The reason for that might be the fact that I put out the feeders realtively late, at the beginning od December. I'm still waiting for "my" siskins which usually arrive here after Christmas and stay until mid-February. If you've got some time to spare, you might entertain the idea of coming here and helping me shovel the snow :-)
I used to get the siskins for a couple of weeks in February - not seen them this last couple of years unfortunately - hope yours pass by and take advantage of the food you put out.
Thank you for your ‘snow’ offer Jolanta - however, after careful thought, I’ve decided to have a ‘snow free’ Winter - wish me luck 😆🥶
@@paultsworld I forgot to say that your "frosty" garden looks almost as good as the green one. Best of luck without the snow!
Thank you - that particular early frost was the best I’ve seen. Back to 11c now - more comfortable but not pretty - especially after a rainy week.
@@paultsworld Paul, can I entitle a video "A garden of grasses and perennials"? I'm not sure it is entirely correct.
Hi Jolanta, I think that sounds OK and conveys the meaning you want. I can’t think of a better way of saying it. A garden full of grasses and perennials. I think your phrase is more elegant.
Спасибо.
You are very welcome.👍
Hii Paul, so lovely to see the frosty garden, please do the latest tour. Also can you suggest what bulbs or plants to plant in this season. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed the Winter garden.
I don’t grow many bulbs but tulips and daffodils always look nice and you can plant them in Winter if your ground isn’t frozen.
@@paultsworld I have some planted in pots Paul, thank you for your reply. Will be waiting for your next tour.
@@Razrai-bn8vf always a joy seeing the first shoots.
👋💚👌
👍🌻
Thanks, Paul, for a lovely video. It's great to see Robin. It's a shame about the banana plant, but I do understand. We still haven't had any substantial frost but I decided to prune my roses anyway and I put the canna in the shed, even so. Your pot plants do so well, do you use a fertiliser? Also what do you mulch your beds with? Thanks again
Glad you enjoyed my video Kim. I will mulch the banana and give it a chance but it all depends on the Winter - would be great if they could survive outside.
I do use a fertiliser for the cannas and brugmansias in pots...it's the Vitax 6x which is fantastic but also expensive. This is my affiliate link to it (amzn.to/47OTTW3)
You could also use normal horse manure or chicken pellets - I use these amzn.to/41jIvz9
As you know, they grow a lot - so need lots of food - also when I'm watering I often just add a splash of tomorite in the can.
For the general beds I use the compost that I make in wooden bins and maybe add some leaf mould if I've got a lot.
@@paultsworld Many thanks 😊
Can you top a yew?
Yes, the tree in the video was twice that height and I simply cut the top half off.
Just started feeding birds as the last of my cats has died. What was the name of online company you suggested for food etc.. Marie from the UK
Sorry to hear about your cat Marie. The company I have bought from for many years is www.brinvale.com
