Am I the only one who would have enjoyed a longer garden tour? I mean the planting varieties and their combinations are drool worthy. I could watch this again and again and see something different every time.
So very lovely, Claus! I think flowers are to the eyes (and nose) what music is to the ears. You have presented all these to perfection. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful gardens. 💚
Textural layering in this area is *gorgeous* . How could anyone walk by without exploring this? Ok Claus, you've really got me drawn to those two very large leaf plants (Astilboides tabularis & Rodgersia podophylla). I'm convinced I need both of them, LOL!🤩 Lovely tour - thank you so much.🙂
A true passionate gardener who cannot help but caress and touch his flowers as he walks by or talks about them. So lush and green and vibrant, this garden glows with love. Thanks you for the tour and the helpful information - I appreciate knowing the latin names so I can google them.
Such a great video full of wonderful ideas on the often overlooked shade garden. I really appreciated the advice to cut down early the plant I know as bleeding hearts in order for it to regenerate foliage for the rest of the growing season. If possible, please present another video on the red and burgundy leafed plants in your shade garden. Many thanks!
Loved viewing your woodland garden. Wrote down about half dozen plants mentioned to see how they might handle my zone 6 area with high humidity. Thank you very much for sharing your garden. I love yellow also.
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful woodland spot. Gorgeous foliage! That Lamium looked so similar to our stinging nettle (Pacific Northwest), I winced when you lifted up the leaves. :-o. :-D
It is exciting to see a woodland garden. We are urged to plant more trees for carbon capture, but planting a garden with trees takes more thought. Fortunately you have done most of the work. Thank you.
Thank you so very much for the tour of your beautiful garden. You have so many diverse and unique plants that are new to me. I’m always on the lookout for new plant varieties, so this video is especially helpful and as always beautiful. Keep them coming! Where’s Nero? I miss seeing him in your video. 😀
I so enjoyed visiting your woodland garden Claus. Like all your other garden rooms, it is a feast for the eyes and the senses. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Wow, so lush and just magical. I'm wondering if your winters are milder than mine because so many of these plants I've never seen. I am in Connecticut, US. The winter here can go down to -17 c to -20 c, though it is rare. (Nomi)
As always, your garden is sublime. This woodland garden is a real departure from the vibrant containers you showcase. It is equally beautiful, and so serene. In a previous video, you featured Sissinghurst in Kent. I have visited it and it is superb, but on a much bigger site. I find your garden just as unique and awe inspiring. I can barely control my excitement when I see that you have posted another video. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
Your woodland garden is spectacular! Thank you for sharing. I have 5 aralia sun kings and absolutely love them and yes, I agree, you can never have too many hydrangeas 😀
Claus, your woodland garden is absolutely beautiful. Very interesting video. Please could you give some advice on dealing with lilly beatles. They've shredded the leaves of my martagon lilies!
Thanks a million Claus! I have several woodland gardens and I just love them so much. The environment is cooler and the foliage really stands out with the softer light.
Thank you so much for sharing so many beautiful flowers and sharing the shade ones. I have a very large shade area in my yard all summer long there is no sun that gets through just too many trees in the winter that there is sun in there because all the trees lose their leaves so I was very interested in your Woodland garden and on top of that I do a lot of fairy gardens in my yard so this will make it easier for me to try to find something that will work well thank you so much for all your wonderful tips hugs and kisses from grandma Sandy and Debbie. Love the balloon garden thing thank you for sharing it with us
Wow what a peaceful beautiful garden. Just love it. Thanks for sharing the information about cutting back dicentra, also how to cut viburnum for flower arranging.
I so love Kiringashoma!! It isn't used very much here in the U.S. That I can see. I also have the Kiringashooma Koreana; not much difference that I can see. Thank you for your tour!!
You are celebrating your thirtieth anniversary for your garden ~ 2024, true? You and your garden are such a blessing. Thank you for sharing your love and creativity.
So lush and beautiful! i didn’t know about cutting back dicentra. Do you do that to all varieties of dicentras or just the gold? I’ve been looking for a gold one to add to my garden.
Last year I cut back my ordinary dicentra - only because it was growing huge and overshadowing the neighbouring plants! It grew back enthusiastically. I need to give it more space i think!
I was so looking forward to see Claus’ woodland garden. It helps a lot to re-imagine mine, which is also half-shade so I can ‘steal’ many of these ideas. One question about the two lilies: are they fragrant? I have a moderate allergy to the smell of lilies, and usually avoid them (other than day lilies). THX
The shade loving martagon lilies (the first ones in the video) are not fragrant. They are really wonderful plants for a shady garden and come in many colors though pink is the most common one.
I can feel your excitement as you describe each plant and they can too, which is why they perform so well in your Beautiful garden. Thanks for sharing. Love your channel.
Hello Claus - Just found your channel and wow! This is one of my favorite examples of a shade garden. I have to find one of those Rodgersia podophylla "bronze form". Thank you for sharing
A very beautiful wild garden Claus, which might help those with difficult areas. Without clearing land, a small part planted with mixed saplings, tough plants and shrubs, then small areas cleared and planted too. Romans brought ground elder to England where it's a pernicious weed; wild garlic is too. Ferns are wonderful because the dead leaves make a mulch.Dead tree trunks get fungi, attract bugs, feed birds. Magical places!
After a crazy and disappointing day seeing your beautiful garden that I would love to just sit and spend time in and the wonderful music is so soothing. Thank you!
@@ClausDalbyEnglish thank you for the reply. I live in the U.S.- Southern California and we are drought stricken once again. Your garden rooms are a beautuful dreamy diversion from reality. You inspire hope. Thank you so much!
Can anyone confirm Mr. Dalby's contention that cutting back bleeding hearts before the heat of summer will result in new foliage that doesnt die back and holds up for the season?
So beautiful! your plants are huge! I live outside of Montreal, Québec, Canada and we have some varieties like you, much they don't grow as big! Thank you for the tour and introduction to new plants that I had never seen before!
