    This was amazing and Dr. Radin is such a courageous trailblazer. I too am quite excited to see the scientific community moving toward a both/and direction, and Western Civ attention finally acknowledging and grappling with consciousness questions and inclusion. Yep, the paradigm is shifting!
    I’m older now at 72, and took the Silva Mind Control course 50 years ago and still find some of the skills helpful. So glad you had a meaningful experience with it Anastasia.

    @1:38:00 Not to denigrate Dean’s story of arriving home and not remembering any of the journey he drove, this type of experience must be familiar to many people who drive the same journey frequently. It’s clear that ‘you’ don’t need to be there for these things to take place successfully. Your body, brain, mind, whatever, are perfectly able to do everything it takes to get you home safely. This is probably a more commonplace version of what musicians or athletes call ‘being in the flow state’.

    You have been attracting 'the' core group (Radin, Sheldrake, Temple, Levin, Ogas are guests that come to mind while commenting) of "scientists" who are exploring ways to apply "scientific method" to researching things that are outside conventional paradigms / Dr Radin's work is exceptionally 'leading edge'.

    @2:10:00 One way to address the mind/matter barrier might be to recognise the assumption we have that mind isn't matter. Why do we think that? Probably because the things we call mental don't have properties we can measure like mass, charge and spin. But that just tells us about the limits of our physics and our instruments. It doesn't mean that thoughts are made of a different substance to the things we can measure.

    I often feel foolish for being interested in both science and fringe so I am deeply grateful for this episode. A discussion around anomalous experiences in such an open, inquisitive context is refreshing to say the least. How many live 'in the closet' about these things, fearing the severest of social and academic ridicule? It is sad to think that opportunities and potentials to discover something much deeper about reality have been extinguished by a knee-jerk resort to mock and ridicule. I favour a quote by the late American psychologist, William James 'If you wish to disrupt the law that all crows are black, it is enough to find one white crow.' One experience of ESP or paranomal activity, even out in the wild, beyond empiricism, being real, is all it takes for everything to change. Is this what feeds the resistance? It's a possibility unable to be ruled out.
    Forgive me, I am rambling. Please accept my deepest gratitude for bringing these conversations out into the light, and assisting me in feeling less resentful towards my own internal contradictions. We are all trying to make this world make sense- let us be kind towards one another as we do so.

      As someone who is also interested in science as well as magic, occult and esotericism, I thank you for your comment. And I agree with you. I never fully experienced the deep cognitive dissonance that many seem to experience, when they behold science and magic at the same time. These parts have space in my consciousness without one excluding the other and I am glad to find people and places in reality where this also occurs. I do hope the future will be more open to contemplate such topics.

  • @MrVibrating
    @MrVibrating 29 днів тому +2

    You don't understand the neural correlates of consciousness therefore it's non-physical, therefore metaphysical idealism?
    There's obviously a convergent nexus between informational and thermodynamic entropies, this being why we experience octave equivalence and rhythm induction in audition, but looking further into other sensory modalities this same default bandwidth emerges everywhere (even in V1 visual cortex), because the stuff of information - the bits in the byte - is substantiated in terms of its energy cost of processing. Factor of two frequency relationships in both temporal and spatial domains represent irreducible thermogeometric equilibria, and this baseline activity is what networks everything together from different resolving nuclei into the cohesive whole, and which is interrupted by anaesthetics, and also by failing to challenge unwarranted quantum leaps from non-sequitur conclusions, amongst other maladies..

    • @jaydenwilson9522
      @jaydenwilson9522 29 днів тому

      Can I ask what you meant by " irreducible thermogeometric equilibria" ?
      How do you represent thermo geometrically?

    • @MrVibrating

      @@jaydenwilson9522 Baseline connective and impulse-rates. So for instance in any randomly self-organising network the threshold connectivity is two connections per node; any fewer and some nodes will form dissociated islands, and any more becoming increasingly redundant and inefficient. This general example is given by Stuart Kauffman in his treatise on dynamical systems theory _At Home in the Universe,_ there in the context of autocatalytic closed thermodynamic systems, but obviously equally relevant to any network-wide activity binding remote disparate loci and dependent upon conservation of energy. And then, as noted already, factor of two bandwidths or equivalently log(2) spectra represent the simplest-possible frequency relationships, thus resolving to the shortest temporal integration windows and so forming convergent informational and entropic minima, which is only to say that octaves sound ineffably 'equivalent' insofar as there's no difference information in this field; the percept itself is of course dependent upon resolution of distinctly higher and lower frequencies, yet it is not so much the frequencies themselves that cause the effect, as the intervals between them.. In other words consciousness is primarily concerned with information _about_ information, AKA meta-information, resolving, encoding and reproducing relationships between objective stimuli via a process of entropy-reduction; IE. consciousness is the executive temporal integration window of an aggregate *minimum solution* to whatever the current balance of inputs, as are cognition and recognition generally.
      This is categorically a physiological, mechanistic structure to the experience of conscious awareness - even though we may be oblivious to it when not listening to music, the ambient audio field will contain freq components from various sources that inevitably happen to fall into factor of two intervals, these representing an informational 'zero point' relative to which all other frequency relationships are being entropically weighted, this Shannon difference the stuff of the meta-information consciousness is principally conserved with - and it is obviously inherent to multicellular processing per se.
      As a final meditation on this unequivocal example of self-organisation from stochastic complexity, we can confidently predict that any multicellular brain will be subject to the perception of octave equivalence - so even aliens will subdivide octaves into key intervals the same way we and all complex animals must - but also that perception of octave equivalence by an AI would represent a higher tier of Turing test, upon which it would arguably be beginning to demonstrate sensation, feeling and *experience* in something of the same way we do.
      More broadly to the point; if there can be no paradoxes, then there can be no dualisms..

      octave equivalence ignores noncommutativity as the truth of reality. Listen to Fields Medal math professor Alain connes youtube talk "Music of Shapes" for details. In the traditional drone example of India it's well known the Perfect Fourth above the fundamental tone causes a NEW octave with the Perfect Fifth as the noncommutative undertone. Alain Connes calls this, "two, three and infinity." It got covered up by Philolaus and Archytas and then promoted as Platonic philosophy for commutative geometry as the structural drive of modern science. In other words if 1 is the fundamental tone the Perfect Fourth is NEVER a natural overtone of the root tonic. So it can never be 4/3 since the denominator has to be an "octave equivalence" of the fundamental tone - as you claim. So since 2 does not go into 3 then you have this eternal motion of energy that is also nonlocal since G is 3 for 3/2 and 3 is F for 2/3 as the undertone Perfect Fifth. Then you "double" the Perfect Fifth undertone but it can not be allowed in the same octave for a symmetric scale. This was first equated as Geometric Mean Squared as the Octave and the Perfect Fifth as the arithmetic Mean and the Perfect Fourth then is the harmonic mean. This means 3/2 x 4/3 = 2 was the first "logarithmic equation" but what is covered up by Archytas when he changed the Harmonic Mean from Philolaus use of the term "Subcontrary Mean" was that the Perfect Fourth was derived from a DIFFERENT fundamental tone by Philolaus literally "flipping" his Lyre around. I call this the Liar of the Lyre. So then 12 is the common ratio and the Perfect Fourth is 6/8 wavelength of a 0 to 8 fundamental tone for 4/3 frequency of 0 to 12 root tonic with 8/12 as the 2/3 ratio of the Perfect Fifth as 3/2 frequency. So as Geometric Mean you then have 6 to 8 (Perfect Fourth) PLUS 8 to 12 (Perfect Fifth) = the Octave (6/12). See how that works? The fundamental tone was then turned into an X - and so it lost it's relation to the natural resonance of overtones and undertones.

    Wow. I think the best explanation (as a starter point) is given in Occult Chemistry by C. W. Leadbeater & Annie Besant which defines a big part of the talk. If we want to start understanding Nature and how everything is made we need to include conciseness in our scientific researches. Otherwise a huge part of it will be missed and what we have as a technology today is just an executive (material) part of how things work in nature. The part that controls, conducts and connects is not included. That is much more important than executive ones.

    Incredible researcher / scientist !!! Every time I listen to what you publish my jaw hits the floor. I don’t know how you do to.
    The most intriguing guests of course mention Henri Bergson…
    The collapse of the wave function was also described my a model of Wolfgang Smith (he recently passed away) almost verbatim to what I just heard .

    When he use the example of going up to someone and saying, “I love you,“ I thought he was going to follow that with the parameters of that “I love you” being said to someone you know versus someone you don’t know. Same message processed completely different

    Thank you for this interview.
    Dean, your publisher is doing an excellent job-hearing your ideas is compelling me to buy your book. The concept of helping people open their minds by simply inviting them to suspend disbelief for an hour is powerful. It’s a gentle yet profound challenge that could allow even the most ardent skeptics to explore new possibilities. I love that approach and believe it will work like magic on the cutting edge of consciousness.

    Oh boy, have I had some experiences. If you process information fast enough, you will "know" things about human behavior that nobody else around you does. I've had confirmation after the fact that I had criminals dead to rights while walking down the street. I read the scene fast enough to know who was hiding something. And what. Spookier stuff too. I look forward to listening to this.
