probably only a couple bathrooms per floor. when I went to China I saw multiple factories that had on site living. there was one big bathroom on the bottom floor or in an adjacent building for a couple hundred units.

New York city you can find many similiar sh*t as this tower. The difference is balcony
a fire actually broke out in 2021 and as you can see, no major damage happened. But they implemented stricter fire safety measures after that and reduced the number of rooms allowed in a single unit of apartment. The rent also doubled after a while yet is still cheaper that other apartments in the area. The inside is actually really beautiful since it first originally meant to be a luxurious hotel. The lobby is gorgeous and you have all the amenities you could ever need inside of the building. Supermarkets, caffes, gyms, swimming pool, etc. People can live there for years without going outside a single time.

I didnt see it as an attempted "own". Its just fact. In this world you sacrifice one thing for another. If that apartment wasnt there, housing prices would be unaffordable in that area with the sudden influx of people. The only solution for half of them would be to become homeless if they cant move. These are sometimes common buildings in Russia where they build one next to the other and they look alike. Most likely there is 30 or more entrances to these buildings and each floor only has 20 apartments or so. I lived in Russia a couple of years and the building looked like one giant thing but when you are on the street you can see the differences in the entrance etc.
