ive said this time and time again. Lars is a character where mixups are fake and do not exist simply because of how unsafe the majority of his moves are in contrast to other characters. I get it. its monday now? Saturday i dropped from bushin to raijin in the span of 5 hours, i was just letting fall apart like the titanic after the 2 hour mark, i wasnt even focused at all anymore. yesterday sunday i just barely got it back to bushin in 4 hours after dropping once more to kishin, i was hardstuck Raijin for like 2.5 hours. Still cant reach Tekken King because of the constant abuse by characters that are almost always plus like that. No only is Lars unsafe with "mixups", hes also unsafe with his opponents mixups(for the majority) AND they have no real pressure ever put on them from their own "mistakes", and they have tons of tech traps that Lars never has! imo whats the point of having stances with strings? like, if DEN and SEN to LEN is all unsafe and can be punished with like very basic moves that everyone universally has, and also just moves with similar frame data that can be applied to the situation. then it just becomes a game of "Do I decide to finish the string and actually use the point of the stance? or do i just cancel after the first two hits and not bother committing ever, for any reason whatsoever? and then if the opponent decides to stand still for once or miraculously picks a bad move to counter me, than you run the risk of even if the 2nd step for the mixup to even land or block or just dodge it for them, or they manage to get lucky anyways and hit you. The Tekken 8 playerbase is severely delusional and full on the offense right now due to like "misinformation" and people just start making general complaints about characters without any real discussion or analysis. I just got told while I was losing my rank Satuday that Lars is high tier and I couldn't complain against Hwo, which doesnt make sense because I told them Lars is like one of the most defensive+risk>>>reward+patience oriented characters in the game and is very easily oppressed. is all about oppression and not in the sense of politics but in just how characters are designed fundamentally in tandem with the new mechanics. Lars' frame data half the time isnt even what bothers me, its his Hitboxes and Hurtboxes. the fact that King can air grab you at the peak of your Heat Smash high in the air so long as you whiff the first hit unintentionally, when your lowest foot is above his head, shows how neutered Lars is, people can also just Heat Engage on the 2nd hit too whiffed, the hitbox either reaches the entire height of the stage while Lars is at his peak, or Lars is just, given a fat hurtbox half of the screen for some reason. The game has heat engage attacks lose to ones with super armor, sometimes it doesnt tho, but it does for Lars. I think that is a big problem with the powercrush heat engage attacks, they should lose to the nonpowercrush ones that land first and faster, cuz it gives it a special animation afterwards, a transition like a grab almost. anyways im just preaching to the choir, theres like a million things wrong with Lars and a million things great with the other characters in comparison to Lars. What should determine a character's rank isnt simply their frame data and other such general information, but how the compare in MUs against the entire rest of the roster, and the way i look at it, very few characters i think are neck and neck fair with Lars, I think Kazuya maybe and thats it, but maybe just cuz Kazuya is so predictable it feels less troublesome, i like fighting Kazuya because hes just very genuine imo. Leeroy mains: Be grateful! back in T7, Leeroy could parry orbitals too! I uninstalled last night after getting Bushin one last time. I need a break. hmu when like, Jack Garland or Rock Howard gets in Tekken. Or just lemme know when Lars miraculously gets recreated to not suck and its not 10 years later after the end of all of the DLC and the lifeline of the game.
i also just realized, if you can react to that low. which seems impossible, then you block it, but blocking seems redundant, because odds are you just know its going to be a low, so if you know its going to be a low, why bother block low anymore? just orbital all of them, both situations expect you to orbital basically. and if you know its going to be a low, do you orbital, do you parry it, or do you block it? you got 3 options, and only one is genuinely good. and low parry is kinda trash for lars imo. and the point of those 3 options is to give variety in gameplay and player expression, like, if blocking is bad, then... why block??? ever? this logic is really weird and i dont like it. I found myself getting back up to Bushin just abusing lars' basic power crush on predicted highs and mids because Lars' hitboxes are so terrible from a distance that he loses almost in most trades that aren't clear cut. its crazy how powercrushing just stops a lot of general mashing in this game. Jin is fundamentally broken btw, crushing like a ton of his general moves stop makes him safe on his hit.
Agree but only chars that have semi safe low is Azu, Ling and they can kiss my ass, grab Leroy for guaranteed punish or SS duck if you want bigger reward, his stance doesn't have tracking mids so his only safe option is sidestep from stance or stance cancel and both is react punishable.

The other day i was playing vs a yoshi and i did a +5 on hit move followed by a 13f. The move should be 8f move according to tekken logic but nop...got flashed everytime.
.....erm yoshis flash with sword comes out at 6f and without sword at 8. Either way you lose since trading with his flash still nets him the win 😂. You have to be at least be +8 to land a df1 before his 6f flash. Just hitconfirm a 1,2 jab for +8.

I know it doesnt refute your point in that this is a knowledge check low that requires some convoluted punish from each character. I think its actually hilarious that this even exist. Im surprised that this low doesnt stagger on block.

This thing forces stance just like leroys low, does not crush highs, range is poor and on block its launch punishable and on CH she only gets a knockdown where she is minus as well. Tbh i honestly would rather not have the CH property, at least i can then apply a mixup. The only thing this move has over that low is its homing and the speed.
Yeah when I’m doing a parry with Yoshi and they do a move with forward momentum he lands behind them and gets punished most of the time because of his recovery 😞 or even worse there are strings that were clearly a parry but he gets jabbed or simply floated out of the air so yeah getting punished for doing yoshis 1+2 parry I know he strong but still his parry is broken because you get punished more for doing it than gaining something not a good feeling 😂😂
The only thing you CAN do against that low into parry shit is HARD READ GRAB but that’s some high lvl shit you HAVE to put into practice. Especially considering the possibility of you having to think of that in a high intensity, final seconds situation. Leroy’s db3+4 is also linear to the right but that’s no more of a weakness than other attack. Shit is broken as fuck and Leroy is NOT low tier at all.
Blocking is +10. it's also a MID that you can Orbital and win the game with Lar's asinine Oki pressure. He becomes predictable and fuzzy the parry just enough to catch the orbital? Throw. Unless i'm missing something, Jin's d2 and Ling's HYP 3 still exists btw.

Its a little dumb to say this like that but that is his counter, of course he can break grab like everyone BUT... make sure you grab with 2+4 and 1+2 because many leroy try to trap any kick and jab with 1 after the stance. Leroy is lock by his stance so he can't move (ss) duck or hit you when you grab him, he forced to break grab and don't mash his stupid parry. grab leroy. That why many top.P say that he is low tier.

Look at lidias db3. This thing forces stance just like leroys low, does not crush highs, range is poor and on block its launch punishable and on CH she only gets a knockdown where she is minus as well. Tbh i honestly would rather not have the CH property, at least i can then apply a mixup.
The only thing this move has over that low is its homing and the speed.

Yeah when I’m doing a parry with Yoshi and they do a move with forward momentum he lands behind them and gets punished most of the time because of his recovery 😞 or even worse there are strings that were clearly a parry but he gets jabbed or simply floated out of the air so yeah getting punished for doing yoshis 1+2 parry I know he strong but still his parry is broken because you get punished more for doing it than gaining something not a good feeling 😂😂

The only thing you CAN do against that low into parry shit is HARD READ GRAB but that’s some high lvl shit you HAVE to put into practice. Especially considering the possibility of you having to think of that in a high intensity, final seconds situation. Leroy’s db3+4 is also linear to the right but that’s no more of a weakness than other attack. Shit is broken as fuck and Leroy is NOT low tier at all.

You must grab him after his low on block. Its a little dumb to say this like that but that is his counter, of course he can break grab like everyone BUT...
make sure you grab with 2+4 and 1+2 because many leroy try to trap any kick and jab with 1 after the stance.
Leroy is lock by his stance so he can't move (ss) duck or hit you when you grab him, he forced to break grab and don't mash his stupid parry.

It literally took me a minute to recognize that grab beats the whole mixup, which means the low is garbage, because if you parry and get grabbed the throw is basically unbreakable. This makes the low A LOT worse, since the low is also slow af and reactable, which means it's also prone to low parrys. The low is FAR from broken

More like we all suffered until you had to suffer in Tekken 7 whenever they gutted the character and rightfully so. I don't think any low should be -8 on block with CH properties, say what you want about the character but just because it's on Leroy doesn't mean it's still not broken.
