    I came back to this scene to rewatch that bit he mentioned about the Nobel peace prize. It’s refreshing to hear exposition of otherwise niche characters, and this one is no exception. “He said peace wasn’t an achievement it was a responsibility” Alexander Pierce was manipulative and used his exposure and status to his advantage, and much like a lot of public stances in the real world, their work is a facade and are much different when you begin to peel the onion. Stuff like this that gives you trust issues frfr

    Why did Captain destroy S.H.I.E.L.D ? When there's corruption among your people you don't destroy everyone because some of them do care for the greater good. You must expose the corrupt ones so that your people may destroy them, learn from their mistakes and wash away their sins.

    • @senthan09
      @senthan09 4 роки тому +18

      Steve destroyed S.H.I.E.L.D because there were too many HYDRA double agents within it. He was already skeptical of S.H.I.E.L.D to begin with, and with HYDRA's revelation coming into play he was fully committed to dismantling S.H.I.E.L.D. No-one could be trusted since the infiltration was too deep.

      @@senthan09 Black Widow, during her data research, found out a lot of important stuff about H.Y.D.R.A that once published, alongside a bit of S.H.I.E.L.D'S dirty side, would allow the government to find a stealthy approach to deal with the threat while the Avengers dealt with it in the front lines. Besides, I understand why he wouldn't have much fate in the organisation but he should at least remember that S.H.I.E.L.D does care for the greater good and that they would not allow themselves for H.Y.D.R.A without giving a fight, after all, they would surely take the precautions necessary to clean themselves up from H.Y.D.R.A'S corruption.

    Here is where I have a problem with Roger's logic about SHIELD...
    In the beginning of the movie, he talks about how they are sacrificing freedoms by stopping criminals before they start a crime, saying "I thought the punishment came after the crime." But now, he is complaining about Fury not seeing HYDRA growing under his own nose, expecting Fury to have had "insight" and to have kept people from being hurt before HYDRA could have committed their crime within SHIELD, in essence, bringing the punishment before the crime.
    SHIELDs intentions were to predict the crime before it happens & stopping criminals from executing their plan, they just didn't know that HYDRA was using that intention to eliminate their own enemies. But now, we see Rogers wanting those same preventative measures done at this point, being hypocritical because NOW it's someone he cares about that has been hurt by no one having that "insight".
    Rogers wants it all destroyed because of the infestation of HYDRA thinking that SHIELD is too corrupt to be salvaged. Would he feel the same about America if he knew of the festering problems within it? Would he want to wipe out all of America without salvaging what he can from what's left?
    This very scenario is the problem we have today. Those who want to salvage what is left instead of starting over, and those who just want to wipe the whole thing clean and starting from scratch.
    Who's right? Who's wrong? How can we even tell the difference?
    I'll most likely see a lot of keyboard warriors stating that they have the perfect solution, but have their own biased view on the matter.

    1:07 is exactly why I hate Steve Holier-than-thou Rogers. As if he had any better idea that SHIELD was compromised

      Steve wasn't the Director. It wasn't on him that HYDRA spent decades infiltrating SHIELD long before he was ever defrosted.
      Nick was Director and never knew a thing.

      For a short time both Steve and and Nick saw the world in black and white, but as time passed they slowly saw the world in somewhat of a grey area. Nick had his suspicions but when it was confirmed it was “too late”. Steve also had a grey view of the world but he still needed time to adapt to the modern world and he had a feeling that SHIELD was unethical and subtly corrupt, but was still unaware that Hydra rebuilt itself in total secrecy within SHIELD. So the 2 took it upon themselves and worked together to bring an end to Hydra’s infiltration in SHIELD, however that didn’t change the fact of what was to happen in terms of Ultron, Thanos, Wilson Fisk’s influence of all organized crime beyond New York City , The Hand, the Skrull invasion, and/or etc.
