Nick only said "OK" but inside he would never let SHIELD die. He gave Coulson the blackbox containing coordinates of SHIELD undercover bases as well as a nice little HQ from which to restart operations. SHIELD only went underground, but it never died out
Yeah, that's the organization he fought for his whole life, no one would give up easily, same gose for Phile Coulson and Robert Gonzalez's crew, they keep SHIELD operational even after it collapse.
This whole movie is in a sense terrifying. It's in my opinion the best MCU movie probably. The only other one in my opinion is infinity war that can be put in the same light. And that's saying something cause I like a lot of them and very much

I came back to this scene to rewatch that bit he mentioned about the Nobel peace prize. It’s refreshing to hear exposition of otherwise niche characters, and this one is no exception. “He said peace wasn’t an achievement it was a responsibility” Alexander Pierce was manipulative and used his exposure and status to his advantage, and much like a lot of public stances in the real world, their work is a facade and are much different when you begin to peel the onion. Exactly. In AOS season 5, it reveals that Hydra students are assigned to different government agencies, including SHIELD and US military like general Hale. Gideon Malick who served in world security council is also Hydra.
Not to mention Hydra tried to weaponize alien tech, or a bunch of inhumans trying to mass murder people, or Hydra releasing a mind controlling monster who tried to turn everyone inhuman so he could mind control them... And a few other minor things too. S.H.I.E.L.D. stopped all those threats, while Captain and the Avengers were partying, or punching each other, or punching each other even more...

Now that Cap is gone (after Endgame), who's gonna argue for people's freedom? Tony wanted armors around the world. UN wanted to weaponize Avengers (signing the accords). Fury wanted to put guns in everyone's heads. Now, it's gonna get worse than ever, thanks to Thanos killing everyone (although most of them came back). The only person arguing for the other side was Steve (there were others who supported him, mostly because they liked Steve so much). But Steve is gone now.
@@valentinofontaine2444 None of the Earth's security measures will be enough to stop guys like Thanos. The best they managed to do was stop other humans (Airships from Winter Soldier). If Earth is intending on fighting on equal terms, they need to at least figure out VERY competent space travel, and they still haven't done that (even in Endgame after 5 years, the only competent way to travel space was the Guardians -- even Tony wasn't able to figure ways to travel space).

They couldn't trust anyone, half of their friends and colleagues turned out to be Hydra, Fury only trusted Cap and Hill. Natasha forced herself into the situation, and won cap's trust, and Sam became a part of the mission when he agreed to help Cap without wanting anything in return. But that's exactly why, no one from the Avengers were involved, including Hawkeye.
Why did Captain destroy S.H.I.E.L.D ? When there's corruption among your people you don't destroy everyone because some of them do care for the greater good. You must expose the corrupt ones so that your people may destroy them, learn from their mistakes and wash away their sins.
Steve destroyed S.H.I.E.L.D because there were too many HYDRA double agents within it. He was already skeptical of S.H.I.E.L.D to begin with, and with HYDRA's revelation coming into play he was fully committed to dismantling S.H.I.E.L.D. No-one could be trusted since the infiltration was too deep.
@@senthan09 Black Widow, during her data research, found out a lot of important stuff about H.Y.D.R.A that once published, alongside a bit of S.H.I.E.L.D'S dirty side, would allow the government to find a stealthy approach to deal with the threat while the Avengers dealt with it in the front lines. Besides, I understand why he wouldn't have much fate in the organisation but he should at least remember that S.H.I.E.L.D does care for the greater good and that they would not allow themselves for H.Y.D.R.A without giving a fight, after all, they would surely take the precautions necessary to clean themselves up from H.Y.D.R.A'S corruption.
@@JabamiLain You are right, but we have to remember that even when HYDRA's infiltration wasn't known, Cap struggled to resonate with S.H.I.E.L.D's methods of dealing with collateral dangers, most obviously being Project Insight. He may have believed that S.H.I.E.L.D cares for the greater good, of which they do, but he was disillusioned by their methods.

In the end, we all do things that might hurt the people we love. It hurts, but in the end we each have to assume the responsibility and consequences of our actions and decisions. It’s sad and scary to think that. No matter who gets hurt it will never justify the actions from either side of a conflict or a war. It’s not worth it.
Here is where I have a problem with Roger's logic about SHIELD... In the beginning of the movie, he talks about how they are sacrificing freedoms by stopping criminals before they start a crime, saying "I thought the punishment came after the crime." But now, he is complaining about Fury not seeing HYDRA growing under his own nose, expecting Fury to have had "insight" and to have kept people from being hurt before HYDRA could have committed their crime within SHIELD, in essence, bringing the punishment before the crime. SHIELDs intentions were to predict the crime before it happens & stopping criminals from executing their plan, they just didn't know that HYDRA was using that intention to eliminate their own enemies. But now, we see Rogers wanting those same preventative measures done at this point, being hypocritical because NOW it's someone he cares about that has been hurt by no one having that "insight". Rogers wants it all destroyed because of the infestation of HYDRA thinking that SHIELD is too corrupt to be salvaged. Would he feel the same about America if he knew of the festering problems within it? Would he want to wipe out all of America without salvaging what he can from what's left? This very scenario is the problem we have today. Those who want to salvage what is left instead of starting over, and those who just want to wipe the whole thing clean and starting from scratch. Who's right? Who's wrong? How can we even tell the difference? I'll most likely see a lot of keyboard warriors stating that they have the perfect solution, but have their own biased view on the matter.

He didn't know there's hydra parasite inside SHIELD, and he knew how hydra mess up the world and which likely they're doing it again, the project inside is going to use by hydra, the avengers gonna die and future heroes too, shield didn't even know what is zola algorithm which will be use when they're putting the targets. Steve wasn't the Director. It wasn't on him that HYDRA spent decades infiltrating SHIELD long before he was ever defrosted. Nick was Director and never knew a thing.
For a short time both Steve and and Nick saw the world in black and white, but as time passed they slowly saw the world in somewhat of a grey area. Nick had his suspicions but when it was confirmed it was “too late”. Steve also had a grey view of the world but he still needed time to adapt to the modern world and he had a feeling that SHIELD was unethical and subtly corrupt, but was still unaware that Hydra rebuilt itself in total secrecy within SHIELD. So the 2 took it upon themselves and worked together to bring an end to Hydra’s infiltration in SHIELD, however that didn’t change the fact of what was to happen in terms of Ultron, Thanos, Wilson Fisk’s influence of all organized crime beyond New York City , The Hand, the Skrull invasion, and/or etc.

Steve wasn't the Director. It wasn't on him that HYDRA spent decades infiltrating SHIELD long before he was ever defrosted.
Nick was Director and never knew a thing.
For a short time both Steve and and Nick saw the world in black and white, but as time passed they slowly saw the world in somewhat of a grey area. Nick had his suspicions but when it was confirmed it was “too late”. Steve also had a grey view of the world but he still needed time to adapt to the modern world and he had a feeling that SHIELD was unethical and subtly corrupt, but was still unaware that Hydra rebuilt itself in total secrecy within SHIELD. So the 2 took it upon themselves and worked together to bring an end to Hydra’s infiltration in SHIELD, however that didn’t change the fact of what was to happen in terms of Ultron, Thanos, Wilson Fisk’s influence of all organized crime beyond New York City , The Hand, the Skrull invasion, and/or etc.
