Sam Chalmers Can’t imagine not being a Lovett fan! Yea, his concerts are a blast! ESP with his Large Band. But String Band is good too. And just with a few other guys taking turns .... he’s really funny and engaging in stage. .... I cannot get enough of him! On stage, on my Boze, any way possible!
If you are a Lyle Lovett fan, you should definetly do anything you can to see him at a live performance. I guarantee it will be one of the best shows you'll ever get to see!
Watched once, listened a second time. I saw them together in January '11 at the Egg in Albany, NY. If you have a chance to catch them (or either of them), do not miss it. Take your kids, take your grandmother, just go. A hundred years from now, these guys will rank with Stephen Foster, Woody Guthrie, and Huddie Ledbetter. Thanks for posting.
I have never been a fan of LL, have always been there for JH, but this song and performance has given me a new found respect and appreciation for LL. God Bless...Bravo!!!!!
This is awesome, great song, hiatt is playing a Rigaud guitar, one of the most amazing sounding guitars i have ever played...gotta see these guys in concert....kick ass
Just saw both in concert in Prescott AZ. 2 AMAZING artists. I will be blessed for a life time after hearing this song. Thank you both for being true to your vocals. Just loved you both. Thank you fof sharing your talents with us.
The ACL episode with them and Joe Eley and Guy Clark is priceless. Saw Lyle and Willie in Missoula a couple months ago. My sister said it was a Lyle Lovett concert and Willie was there too.
These are two of my top ten musicians. Saw them acoustic live together, and it blew me away! Met them afterwards and they were both just ordinary folks.... but with a ton of talent!!
Superb ... his life performanes are a thing to behold. Wish someone had put up a video of his performance in Belfast or Shepherds Bush Empire. Maybe yet ...
Saw these two with Guy Clark and Joe Ely back in 1991 do a songwriter's workshop/in the round in Atlanta at Variety Playhouse for free. It was priceless. This is one of his best. John's lead is spot on too.
Great song..Great duo...if you get a chance, they often play together fun, friendly stuff check them outI saw them a while back with Guy Clark and they were great-I love the Hiatt solo...and I am sad that there will be no more new Guy Clark.... Great Spirit AWAY!
great great music composing life to short to take it all in.Lovett sure makes life a lot more peaceful.sing to me baby sing.Just hop your saved god gave it to you.I hope i hear you play and sing in heaven.
Saw them at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA. a couple years ago. These guys love to banter and talk between songs. Lyle is really a funny guy. See them in a small venue. I'm going to see Lyle with "the large band" and special guest Mavis Staples @ THe Wolf Trap in August. I saw Mavis with Dylan last year. Mavis still rocks.
I so understand why Julia said "Yes." I love me some Lyle Lovett. John Hiatt ain't no slouch, either. Would love to see them together on for a whole show.
@hicks727 It's amazing, actually. I never said, "why did Julia Roberts marry him," but Lyle Lovett's music is a new discovery for me of the last 6 or 8 months. Prior to that, Lyle Lovett was, simply, that guy that was married to Julia Roberts for about five minutes all those years ago.
I agree mike….. collings is a very fine crafted guitar. I have a partial endorsement with Martin. I play a D-41 and an HD 28 with hipshot drop -D grover head. Martin is incredible of course. But the Collings is the only other dreadnaught out there that even turned my head a little. The market is flooded these days with luthiers building very, very fine boutique guitars. of course these inst start around 8k and move up. but yes…..Martin and Collings are the best out there for my taste…..
The love bug will bite you If you don't watch out. If he ever bites you Then you'll sing and shout; You'll go (da-dee-da-dee-da-dee da And whoa dee doe dee doe) That's what love is all about 'Jimmy Dorsey"
Consider yourselves lucky to exist in the time of Lyle Lovett.
Two of the most underrated artists in America.
Never was a Lyle Lovett fan. Went to see him and John Hiatt in a concert a couple of years ago. One of the best concerts I've ever been to.

I wasn't much of fan, either, until I saw him in concert!
G r e a t music . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Joy to my ears. Touches my soul dearly. Thank you Lyle.
a man that was born to write songs, no question about that
I just love REAL genuine talent with artists like Lyle Lovett... he is a gifted poet too

I can listen to this over and over and over again. Damn.
Love this bless you and John ❤
A great song with two great musicians right here. I wish I could play it.
Collings makes the sharpest sounding guitars on earth. Gotta love 'em.
Love this wonderful song.
Hiatts been my man since the 80's, but whilst I introduced my late wife to him, she introduced me to Lovett. Greetings from Australia.
Lovett is like a fine wine - he just gets better with age.
say what you want but he is a genuine artist
This is awesome, great song, hiatt is playing a Rigaud guitar, one of the most amazing sounding guitars i have ever played...gotta see these guys in concert....kick ass
Seeing these to 2nite in Detroit... Can't wait!
This guy is captivating.
2 of the best in music! Loved this! Reminds me a bit of the Firefly theme.
Just saw both in concert in Prescott AZ. 2 AMAZING artists. I will be blessed for a life time after hearing this song. Thank you both for being true to your vocals. Just loved you both. Thank you fof sharing your talents with us.
I have seen him five time live. Hands-down the most best concerts ever.
The ACL episode with them and Joe Eley and Guy Clark is priceless. Saw Lyle and Willie in Missoula a couple months ago. My sister said it was a Lyle Lovett concert and Willie was there too.
Wow this song always blows me away... can't wait to see both these guys in Wilkes-Barre next Thursday...
i love the intense look on his face after the performance. such a moving tune.
I love this man's music more and more every time I hear him play. First time I have ever heard this track. Wow. Amazing.
These are two of my top ten musicians. Saw them acoustic live together, and it blew me away! Met them afterwards and they were both just ordinary folks.... but with a ton of talent!!
close your eyes and open your ears too this masterful musician and poet of true distinction....you have to "Lovett" unless you are braindead !!!!
Love it! Counting down the days to the new CD release and the concert in November!!
The best of the story tellers!
Fantastic.
@hicks727
My thoughts exactly. Lyle seems like a class act.
I love Lyle and try to see him every chance I get. Incredibly witty and talented song writer.
Just discovered him.
Enjoying this voice so much...
Just wonderful
Simply cool - very cool !
Real country music ,no tractor rap here !
Deep thanks!
A phenomenal transmission.
Brilliant!
Enjoyed their talent at the Jefferson Theater in Beaumont TX, Highly recommend.
wonderful!!
Superb ... his life performanes are a thing to behold. Wish someone had put up a video of his performance in Belfast or Shepherds Bush Empire. Maybe yet ...
Left me breathless. Lyle Lovett, to me, is like band aid for a bleedin' soul.
I thought the Spectacle version was definitive, I was wrong. Superb!
LYLE THANKS FOR THE BLESSINS
Awesome man !
A lot of talent in one room.
Saw these two with Guy Clark and Joe Ely back in 1991 do a songwriter's workshop/in the round in Atlanta at Variety Playhouse for free. It was priceless.

@tomingersoll I am going to see them in June. Really looking forward to it.

Now every year they come to town...............natural forces
I so understand why Julia said "Yes." I love me some Lyle Lovett. John Hiatt ain't no slouch, either. Would love to see them together on for a whole show.
Legend
A great singer and song writer. As I drive from Bangkok to Buriram and onto Bueng Samphan - (300kms) it is Lyall Lovett all the way.
Doesn't get any better.......
by merely varying the pitch of the vocals, Mr Lovett is able to create a melody
The sign says west, but the compass says southsouthwest. That's the geographer in me. Lyle gets an A+.
Hell yeah you should post a tab.
going down to south for a road trip some where by Texas NM then East to DC.. yup road trip. :) look up some old people
This makes me want to take a road trip so bad right now.
it just don't get any better!
Damn Fine!
My home is where my horse is...
Correct!

Two anything But 'natural' forces!
@hicks727 yes!...
I see the open sky - it's vast.

It's actually southwest, due west would get pretty wet in Lake Erie :)

Not sure but I think it's a drop D. Correct me if I'm wrong.
To my Truck driver relatives in
Kennedy Center Honors? Anybody agree?
UA-cam needs a repeat button dammit.
They have one. Lower left... circular icon.
i love a different voice. like Jimmie Driftwood. Red Sovine, etc. he is 1
The 7TH Cav should adopt this song...not as jaunty as Garry Owen, though. Some nights, I hear those voices, too.
taStY
Yes, great song but you'd get lost trying to north or south on an even numbered highway!
isn't this wonderful...
looks like me pop did.he would've liked it too.
