Everyone talks about Mr Lovett's singing and performing, which are truly awesome but what about his songwriting? Surely Lyle Lovett is one of the last great singer songwriters, using his words to paint masterpieces, just as the great Masters did so many years ago, that can be enjoyed by all. Thank you Mr Lovett
Q tv is great, I'm a recent fan. Canadian broadcast right? Where else can I see a very good interview with Christopher Hitchens and a fine performance from my fellow statesman, the great Lyle Lovett? Good taste from the folks at Q:) Lyle has a real knack for the turn of phrase, "sometimes at night I hear voices, home is where my horse is," also see God Will from Lyle to catch another one of those great turns of phrase placed on the tail end of a chorus.
I love this version....the mandolin adds a nice extra layer...Checkout the band...Stuart Duncan,Victor Krauss...sweet sounds... There is a nice arrangemnet of this tune with john Hiatt that is equally good...Live in KINK studio.
This has always been one of my favorites, his voice is perfection.
Lyle Lovett is a national treasure and one of the best live acts you'll ever hear... bar none.
Awesome tune. Love this man. Love his talent and his voice. Thank you for posting.
That is masterful songwriting. Bypasses all the fluff and taps deep into human experience. Thanks for posting this.

Yeah, I concur this is a great tune. Heard it played just acoustic by LL and it rocked, but I really like the mandolin, piano and violin as additions.
