This is about as slick and tight as it gets; Mr. Lovett, you are something else and your guitar-playing sidekick, Mr. Hiatt, is unique in the annals of pickers as near as I can tell.
Just saw these guys at "The Birchmere" in Alexandria, Va. (500 seats). What fun! Felt like I was in my living room with these guys. The story telling between songs and the interaction with the audience was great. Great artist and gentlemen also. Lyle is one funny guy. He should do comedy.
Hiatt's solo is supposed to be humorous - at first, then serious. What a gem of a video. I assume this is a Lovett original, the lyrics being the give-away. Everyone should check out the L.L. album that's half country and half blues/jazz, I don't remember its name but it is exceptional. Thanks for the post.
This is the Texas Music version of The Million Dollar Quartet. Brilliant! On the ACL stage as well. I promise you things don't get much better than this.
Lyle always has the nicest sounding guitars, he’s first class all the way , never missed a chance to see him & his large band in person every time he came to phoenix.
I don't know if you can buy it from PBS,, but maybe the ACL website? I caught this late one night after a gig and fell in LOVE all over again with these guys....
MAN, I CAN TOLERATE THIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SUPER COOL. I TAPED THIS WHEN IT WAS FIRST OUT.....THEN IT GOT ERASED SOMEHOW . CAN'T FIND IT ON TV OR AT PBS.... ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN ET THE SHOW TAPE AGAIN!?????
IN THE FAMOUS WORDS OF JOHNNY LEE HOOKER.. HAW HAW HAW HAW... WHICH YOU HEARD IF YOU WATCHED THE PBS SPECIAL AS JOHN HIATT ECHOED THIS AS TRIBUTE TO JOHNNY... NOTHING LIKE GREAT MUSIC FORM ALL THESE GUYS BLUES BASED OF COURSE!!!! IN THE MEANTIME.... LET'S GET TO MEPHIS.." PUN INTENDED!!!! GOD BLESS, sc
So, this is kind of dated post, but, if you're on the West coast (California, Oregon, Tacoma, Washington) Lyle and John will be there ... last stop, Tacoma on the 18th of October ... check out John's website for a real schedule ... Saw 'em in Greeley, Colorado last Friday ... great show.
One of my favorite renditions of this song for sure
finally something on U tube not recorded on cheap cams or cell phones. Good post.
Great performance by four of the most talented musicians in the business. Gosh, really miss Guy Clark - rest in peace my dear friend!
This clip RULES! WOW. No more to say but WOW.

Wow, not only an amazing song writer, John Hiatt can pick a little, too!
Four music legends on the same stage, would have loved to have seen it in person, thanks for sharing
I've heard some of the best musicians in my entire life just right now! Praise God, for these gifts !
THIS ....makes my soul HAPPY
Saw these guys a couple years ago in Charlotte....Songwriters Tour! No words can describe!!!! Awe inspiring!
We were privileged to see this tour in Seattle a few years ago. 4 of our favorites on one stage. Fantastic!
One of those time I want to "like " more than once...

great video thanks for sharing.God bless.
such cool guys...
THE best.
Look up John Hiatt in Wikipedia and you’ll no longer consider him a sidekick.
Love how John Hiatt starts with the 2-note Neil Young lead, holds for a long time, then breaks out.

ow yeah!!!
This is awesome!! Do you have john hiatt memphis in the mean time? I love it nothing but 6 strings!!
It's the "I forgot to leave my ego at the door" mode/scale.
Loved the song but when John Hiatt played the same note 50 strums in a row, it was pathetic.
John Hiatt writing songs around you to this day. stfu
Excruciating 😖 comes to mind also.🤦🏼♀️
