**psst** Are you enjoying Scam School? You've gotta check out our *brand-new series* "The Modern Rogue" at ua-cam.com/users/modernrogue. If you've seen it, reply and tell me what you think. If not, then get on over there. I'll bet you a dollar you love it. -Brian
is this game always play with 3 other people?
Scam School modern rogue is amazing
Cong Toai Nguyen did. You Got answer. I was thinking same
Instead of having them count to a number between 10-15, they could each spell their selected card 3 times (for example t-h-r-e-e-o-f-s-p-a-d-e-s). This repetition would pretty much guarantee that they won't forget their card.
It would still be like the 9 card "Spelling Bee" trick on steroids.

"Pick a number between 10 and 15"
"Ok"
"What is it?"
"3"
*Facepalm*
JJJJ my friend ask me to pick a number between 11 and 10 and i said 11 😂😂😭😭idk why
For those who got the trick to work but are amazed why it actually works, here is a nerdy explanation, get a cup of coffee and follow this math logic:
1) First forget about this trick for a second and consider a random pile of card, the number of cards in that deck shall be N.
Let’s name the position of any random card in that pile i (1
Outmane Lemtiri Chlieh Thanks for the thorough explanation :)
U crazy
Outmane Lemtiri Chlieh you can always trust a PhD to explain a simple thing in a very complicated way :)
The gist of the trick is that the second person passes by the target card when he deals out cards. At that point, what number he chose and what he does with the remaining cards doesn't matter because their order doesn't matter. All that matters is - the first person put a certain number of cards underneath the target card, and the second person is now putting that same number of cards (in a different order) on top of the target card. The first person then deals out that same number again, and the target card is now on top.
Another way to look at it is that the first person does something, then the second person puts the target card in the exact opposite place in the pile, and the first person undoes what the did the first time. Since the originally bottom card was put in it's opposite place, and what was done to it was undone, it's now on top.
In a nutshell, it's a complicated way to put a card on the bottom, then deal out the entire pile, and then be surprised that the card is now on top.
+Outmane Lemtiri Chlieh what ?
Outmane Lemtiri Chlieh who read it ?????
I absolutely love scam school but one of my favorite things about these classic episodes is the idea of Brian going up to random tables at the bar slamming down a deck of cards and asking “would you like to see a magic trick?”
It works by counting the same pile the first time and the last time. So, after you count [x] cards you pass the deck for someone else to count [y] cards and then get it back to count your [x] cards again. The trick works because after the first count there are [x] cards below yours. Then when someone else counts [y] they pass your card and place the remaining cards on top. The cards on top now are the same [x] that where at the bottom just in a different order, so when you count your [x] again, it leads to your card.
😳 you smaaaart. 😁
+Razvan Groza (Top 10 mistakes) can this trick work with two people ? if so how ?
+Rana Asim Wajid Cut the deck in half, then use the numbers between 20 and 26 instead on 10 and 15
Your explanation is perfect
all decks are being hit by the same "personal number". This guy tricks us into thinking we are choosing a random number but we are just replacing the cards in the cycle. Thats why he swaps the decks around so each person hits their number. Completely rotates the decks and boom.
Instead of using a random number between 10 and 15 use the trick from spelling bee and have them spell out their entire card, "number of suite". This always keeps you within 10-15 cards without having to narrow their choice. It might make it feel even more random because there are only 5 numbers between 10 and 15 but 52 cards. Or have them chose their favorite card.
Ahh, the good ol’ Revision 3 intro! Love it
The secret to this trick is basic algebra. The number you "own" is, say x. The important part is that the deck is roughly a third, and your x isn't bigger than your pile n, but x is also not smaller than half the pile. n - x is how far down your card is after the first run of this. Then, every time someone else applies their number, they are guaranteed to hit your card. So, [y - (n-x)] + [ n - y ] = x is how far your card is from the top. The left brackets are from counting off their number, the right is what's left. If the next guy does it your card will be n-x from the top, then x again after. If you have more or less people, just make sure you give the pile back to the person after an odd number of people rearrange their pile.
Every time a trick is self run, either the deck is rigged or the numbers(the mathemagic) matters.
I may have done the first transcontinental magic trick, was on a three way phone call with sister and her roommate and my mom. My sister dealt the cards and separated deck, told my mom what card was in her pile and got her magic number, got them to do the count down, the switch, and blew there minds with successfull results
neat little variation on the trick in this video: if you only have one spectator with you, have them select any card place it at the bottom of the deck. then without ever touchjng the deck just have them select a number between 30 and 42. then have them quietly cojnt out all of the cards to their number and put the remaining cards on top. do this a total of three times and the selected card appears at the top of the deck. magic. or you can do this same trick with six smaller but roughly equal packs. have them select a number between 4 and 8. but here you DO have to the pack switches and be wary of which decks youre switching. i found swapping 1, 2 and 3 together and then 4, 5 and 6 together works the easiest for beginners.
i dont understand this at all. lets say secret number they chose is 10,10,10 that would mean 30 cards gets put on each other. what if they picked 11,12,13 then that would mean 32 or 33 cards gets put on top of each other. how does that make the bottom card on top ? its impossible if they chose different numbers
honestly i am a magician and don't know why it works but it works. If it works dont question it
My shot at an intuitive explanation:
Let this be a stack of cards, with our card marked 'X':
top OOOOOOOOOOOX bottom (12 cards)
We first take off the top bunch of cards and put them on the bottom, (say 7), so now we'll have exactly 7 cards beneath our card:
top OOOOXOOOOOOO bottom.
What our stranger needs to do for us is to turn the deck upside down. That way, there are exactly 7 cards on top. But it'd be WAY too obvious if we told them to turn it upside down. SO, instead, we tell them to 'deal out the cards one by one'. If they do this for the entire stack:
123456789X
X987654321
Clearly you see how the stack would get turned upside down.
But in our deck all the cards EXCEPT our chosen one are irrelevant. We really only have to reach our chosen card to get the same effect. So any number in a middling range (ie: "10-15" for a 20 card deck, or "4-9" for our 12 card deck ) would do. Lets go with 6 for simplicity:
top OOOOXOOOOOOO bottom.
top OOOOOO bottom.
redeal: OXOOOO
Put back on top: OOOOOOOXOOOO bottom.
Voila! its functionally the same as flipping the stack upside down. And since all we have left are 'Os', we could have picked 7, 8, 9, 10...even 12 would have worked, technically.
Now we give it back to the first person and, trivially, since they put 7 (or any number) of cards UNDER their starting card initially, they are guaranteed to have that many ON TOP in the end.
Awesome!
-AHMAD
An A plus trick but I am not sure if it was emphasized enough that after switching piles, the piles MUST go back to the original owner and not just any of the 3 oeople. To this end, I'd probably just all swipe clockwise where person 1 ends up with pile 3. For the last count swipe, counter clockwise, everything returns to original position for example 3 returns their new pile to position 2.

Okay MOM!
Really annoying host and I sure as hell didn't come here to watch ads, especially in-video ads that I can't skip. I understand why they're there but it still is very annoying. Neat trick though.
..you can skip the ads

I like UA-cam with no ads. It's like a wholly different experience
3 people, clockwise, then counter clockwise, that's it, reason why as host explained, once the card pass the top on the second count, it will remain whatever the number you count the first time.
Why the confusion with ABC: A C A B and then B C A B? The easier and better way to remember is to pick one spectator and move their card "counter clockwise" twice, then pick the same spectator the second time around and move their pile "clockwise" twice. That's it. no ABC memorizing :D
I've tried it, it still works. Also, no all you need is 2 people. Just remember that each deck has to be count out a total of 3 times. 1st count by Player 1 then by Player 2 and once again by Player 1.
Red Heart Ace???
Noah Pederson instead of ace of hearts ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Well here in India some of us call spades as black hearts, so you know....

ABRACADABRA
anyone notice the woman chose the number 3....... and it still worked... he clearly said 10-15 and she must have thought 1-15... amazing that didnt mess Diamond up!!!
+Owen Lynn He definitely said 10 lol
the smile when she said yeah i got one makes me think she did it purposely cause he wouldnt be looking to try and screw his trick up
There was a jump cut as she flipped the reveal so it's possible that she did mess it up and they just cut it and redid the reveal scene.
She is definitely not the brightest bulb...
Since the decks were moved around she would have messed up all three decks, but yeah I think they edited it to look like it worked.
i love the host hair style.... it reminds me of the durians fruit in malaysia
Reminds me of jersey shore
Yeah and I bet it smells like shit just like durian too
red heart ace ?
Scam school ooooh yeah. I have no idea how the trick works but it does every single time.

How do they make a still in Australia ??
Oh, wait... you did a video on that recently !
why does this video have the old youtube format?
Yeah its like that for me too.
Because it's.....from old UA-cam :o wow
I love that Roddy Piper reference in the beginning. R.I.P Roddy
If the piles are divided 'evenly', there are two 17 card stacks and an 18 card stack. Use a 17 for example. person 1 counts 13 (for example), then drops remaining cards on top. Their card is now 4th from the top (it started on bottom). The next person counts some number (whatever) so that person 1's card is now 4th from the bottom (it was the 4th counted). That means it has 13 on top of it. Now back to person 1 with that stack, he/she counts off those 13 and voila!, there card is back on top!
This might come off as sexiest and if so i apologize but I hate doing tricks for women? The one in the video seems to have a hard time following directions which happens a lot more often than it should. Twice she started to pick up the pile and place it on top of the cards in her hand.
The other problem I have with them is they have a hard time remembering what card they picked. I can't tell you how many times I have forced a card so I know full well what the card is and when I ask them what their card is there is a moment when they have no idea then some it's like they pick some random card out of the air. Give them a drink or two and it's even worse.
A less confusing way to do it is to just rotate the cards to the persons right, do the count, then back left and do the count again, as opposed to messing around with the A B C thing.
at least i found it less confusing.
did you see that in the first demo monica's secret number is only 3? watch her count at 2:21, 2:45 (she finished fast) then 3:06. i thought it was supposed to be 10 or more? just a little confused.
10:30 Brace your ears for impact
I came here to drink beer and kick ass... and it looks like we're almost out of beer
how the hell does this work exactly? why does it not fail if someone picked one number lower or higher?
Every stack gets counted the same amount of times, as long as the 'chosen' card is put in the bottom of each stack and people count their 'secret number' correctly, it will always mathematically work xD
***** I'm just trying to understand the math and my brain is melting...probably has something to do with how tired I am...but all well
Each contestant counts on their own stack first, then then are switched and counted a second time by somebody else. The stacks are switched back to their original participant and counted the third and final time.
The first and third count needs to be the same and high enough. The second only needs to be high enough, so it doesn't matter that somebody else does a different count.
Here is why:
First let [A] mean participant A's secret number.
The card starts at the bottom. The first count places the card [A] from the bottom. [A] is at least 10 meaning the card is now in the top half (the trick wont work if any stack has more than 20 cards). The goal of the second count is to place it near the bottom by the same amount as it was from the top (that way it will be [A] from the top for the third count). Since the remaining cards are just placed on top anyway it doesn't matter how many cards the second count is as long as it gets to the selected card ( which is no more than 10 cards down). So you see it doesn't matter what [B] is as long as it is 10 or above. For the third count the selected card is exactly [A] from the top, [A] will be removed from the stack and the selected card will be on top :)
Good job she didn't demo the trick - she struggled with simple instructions like pick a number between 10 and 15.
So 52 cards(not 32 like german deck). And the main thing is the right exchange of the piles. Of ABC you make CAB. BUHUHUUUT!!! From CAB you make ABC again. Very important!!! Check how they do it. All 3 times they do that. That does the math. Took me a while to notice. Great trick by the way.
Thanks. That’s the only way I could make it work.
Just mind numbing trick ! Insane...Diamond is a super smart guy...
similar to shim lim's final trick on AGT. NICE!! Now I know how shim lim did it!
Awesome video!! Those others obviously can't follow instructions. Works with all number 10-15 no worries. I have to say a massive thank you as well because i haven't picked up cards since i was a child and now i have a list of 21 card tricks! Very great instructor and clear video instructions! Thanks again!!

Thank God, I finally found a trick I can do when I'm drunk, all these other stupid tricks requiring me to be sober, I mean c'mon I don't have time for that
amen to that
You need to remember ALL That (like the show! ;D) when you're DRUNK?! O_o I on't drink, but I can't even remember that now!!
Yes, it matters. The first time through the decks are ordered ABC, then BCA and finally ABC again.
Thanks for this comment, without this how anyone can figure out the trick.
"Scamschool, meow meoww Scamschool meow meowwwww
Those spikes look so ridiculously stupid
Because you have to change A-C and C-B. Than after they count the numbers you have to change B-A and B-C. The video say at the last change: B-C and than B-A. Do you see it? I faild each time but now it works. Hope you know what I mean ^^

i really like scam school. i started watching on the revision channel on my Roku box like four years ago when Coop was still on rev3. These were by far my favorite shows. :) helped me get some friends in high school before i graduated which really helped because i was a shy kid.
Check the original trick by Tomas Blomberg on the DVD 21 - Magic By Sweden. Wizard Product Review 5-1-11
I dont care about the trick, I just like this guy humor, He is freakn cool
Not for nothin', but I'm gonna like this video before I even watch it because of the twisted, "They Live" pseudo-quote... quasi-quote... whatever, They Live was cool. Also, beer.
i did it the exac same way. but it didnt work. please help t learn this trick
Pathum Jayasekara Just practice. Many tricks you can do the exact same way and it won't work. Just all practice until you get it, or try to change the steps until it works for you all the time. (albeit it won't work 100% of the time. Nothing will ever work 100% of the time tbh)
You are amazing bro.
I become your fan immediately after watching just two video.
Good work !
Look at 7:45!! A-B-C 1st (before any swaps!) C-A-B (after first swap!) Change the pile in the A place, with the pile in the B place, and then the B place with C place, returning the piles to A-B-C!
The name of the video is cheating because when your drunk, everything is magic
It doesn't work, I've tried it 5 times, I switched A,C - and the second time C, B-B, A....I counted all cards to about 10 per pile, what am I missing here? ?
It goes A-B-C ~ A-B-A-B ~ B-C-B-A. And each pile has to be about about 15/20 cards. I hope that helps :) Good Luck
Look at 7:45!! A-B-C 1st (before any swaps!) C-A-B (after first swap!) Change the pile in the A place, with the pile in the B place, and then the B place with C place, returning the piles to A-B-C!
Thanks
A,C then C,B and second time C,A and A,B but thats if you assign the piles a letter. I thought of it like just positions like C,B,A never moved. So then it's A,C then A,B and second time the same thing.
Such an incredibly easy and kick ass trick... except when you happen to have a person who can't follow simple goddamn directions! Lol.
I've always wondered, how long did it take to spike your hair like that?
This is similar as Scarne's. Imstead of counting 10 to 15. Have them pick an invisible 2nd card and spell it. The shortest card spellimgs are act of clubs and two of clubs which are both 10 letters long when of is included. I like Scarne's 1 person, 1/3rd of the deck version because the built in padder is that people tend to forget the card that they pick if they have to spell a 2nd card even if said 2nd card is sn invisible one they made up for themselves.
I'm sorry, but the girl is counting 3 cards each cycle. The result at the end is staged (probably due to her doing it wrong) but I'm sure the trick works.
It wasn't that the trick wasn't cool, it's just that I wasn't getting the reactions that I wanted. So I think the key is that Brian is just such a cool guy. Wheres the scam school about how to act like brian?
***** There needs to be a video on how to do the spikes too!
DJT looked very different 7 years ago!
this is really simple. whoever cant see the trick while playing it is either drunk or dumb. not like feeling simple AFTER you are told the trick, so easy to see it BEFORE that. ps: host is kinda dumb to suggest putting decks in line, it only makes this more complicated
im dumb
Do you need three people? Could this work with 2? Oh well. I'll figure out a way to get three people to watch it. Super cool trick
will be confusing here but i try-
for first pile, if guy had picked 10 as number and had pile of say 19 cards.. -
at start - chosen card at bottom, 18 cards on top of it..
next- 10 cards on bottom, then chosen card, then 8 on top of it. i give ur pile to another guy
next- doesnt matter if other guy had chosen 10 or 11 or 12, order will be as follows after hes done - 8 cards on bottom, then ur card, then 10 on top.. then i give u back this pile
next - u put 10 cards from top down, ur card top..
Here's why it works. Say your number is N. First, your card is on the bottom. Next, you're going to put your chosen card on top of N of the cards in your stack (by counting N down to the bottom), with the rest on top. Next, someone (anyone) is going to put the rest of your cards (which are on top) on the bottom, then your card, then a few of your N cards to add up to their number, and then the rest of your N cards in a pile. Last, you count off N cards, and surprise! Your card is now on top.
is that guy from saw the MOVIE or something, i see the resemblance😂😂😂
Am I really the only one that noticed that the girl's secret number was 3, but he said for it to work your number has to be between 10-15? Obviously it didn't work and they used a camera cut to change the outcome. Also, I don't have a deck of cards but I can't see a way of this working without everyone's secret number being the same
To siddharthjoshi91, hearts are not always red. Go out and do some research. Bicycle's Blue Dragon Back decks have blue hearts and diamonds. There are other decks which all the faces are black or white, but the pips (the number/letter and the suit in the corner) are normal. Just saying, do your research before you think what you say is right.
@ajking7 , if ur talkin about diamond jim tyler he was just doin that so it dosent take up to much time. if ur talkin about that girl, it was the way they cut it , or its because if you look closely, shes the one who drank the most with the least full cup of beer =)
For this Magic...
We have to include the Two Jokers or not ?!...
Considering the comments are nothing but kids fighting I doubt this, but does anyone know what the reasoning behind why this works is? There has to be some sort of mathmatical thing into this, but I cant figure it out and its driving me nuts
the guests talk as they do their trick though. If they aren't capable of talking us through the trick as they perform and teach it, they shouldn't be on the show. All of them ARE capable and so Brian doesn't need to talk as much.
It's a balance between getting income from ads, and having lots of viewers. If they made those ads you're talking about, they would lose viewers, and thereby income from ads, which in turn makes these ads better anyway, without annoying people.
scam school u must will make me mad I cant hear any song and movies ald not using facebook like before ...... uffff I just want to learn all of ur tricks ufffff
If you carefully look that's just a horrible trick cause if you look carefully they get the same deck that they started with whatch it carefully again
you can't get the original card if you don't get the same deck back...what is your point?
I keep doing this exactly the way the video says, but two of the decks work, and the original "a" deck (First person starting off the trick never works. It's always three below. What am I doing wrong?
Haha! "Next week on scam school we'll be learning the difference between alligators and crocodiles. Turns out alligators like beer. Crocodiles do whiskey straight. Pretty sure that's the cops."
Brian, i want to know- have you accidentally stabbed your hand in a Styrofoam cup/knife trick?
it looks like you in this video, but it's low quality so i'm not sure
/watch?v=OnKdbv0DZzk&feature=relmfu
Oooh thats awesome...
it certainly seems to convince the people that pay for making the show... But do see your point , the character he presents is a little annoying and the script is pretty much the same each episode :P Then again , they are short and educational , unlike most mainstream television programs and shows...
i think you forgot your attack helicoptor viewers AHEM
at 7:11 host steals the explanation, magician seems not happy with him jumping into his trick, plays nice though. Sit back and let him do the show, spiky-head man!
I cant do this when im drunk lol
I want to go to the same bar and learn a trick with him in person
start with a number between 1-10 add 2 add 5 then subtract the number of cards u started with from ur answer now the answer is seven
Hey, anyone remember when someone would have top comment of just 0:00 to let people skip UA-cam ads? Yeah, we should go back to that instead.
Dude he's not gonna sub to you for 1 sub he already has a ton, it's not gonna help much, and he didnt put 3 ads on his video, youtube did
I disagree. He lets them do their thing but knows many viewers are f(*&(g st@p*d , so where needed he makes sure those people understand what's going on as well....
There would be other issues if your PC exploded then data being saved
Im confused... Is Diamond some kind of awesome title or is that his name? And if its a title, what do i need to do to get it?
Brushwood made it more confusing not less, introducing the line….
The first rotation is C and A, then B and A, the second rotation is B and C and A and B. I wonder if this really matters.
Haha the trick is to not have a full deck so you can fit 10 to 15 cards in each pile!,,,
what happens when they pick say 15 as a special number and run out of cards?
