I've been doing this trick for years to pick up girls.
The only thing different in my performance is I change the order of revealing the cards. I reveal that I knew their card first and then tell them how amazing it would be if they knew that I picked the *whatever* card. A very tiny change, but the ending is them suddenly having "psychic powers" that they didn't know they had.
It's at this point that I tell the girl that we should talk more so she can develop these "abilities".

  • @shwood

there's good reasons to go either way. I figure people have seen enough tricks that they already guess that you're going to get their card right, so I like the surprise out of nowhere when you prove THEY guessed right first.

Assuming you're referring to the Jack of Hearts moment, Pavel was probably "practicing" reading the marked cards, so he knew the original card. A normal spectator usually won't know that, and it doesn't really matter.

In the awesome movie magic with anthony Hopkins ( book even better ) . This trick is done with his old flame . You will see how a great magic trick is so often relies on a great story, or taking you on a journey , being great with the patter . Reason I love magicians like Bill Malone who I would see as young boy and he was just coming up . He credits his greatness to becoming funny and personable because he worked in the hey day of Chicago bar magic . Although he studied right here in Chicago with the great Ed Marlo and became a master . It wasn’t until he learned to use his personality and humor did he propel his magic. This can’t be stated enough . So many people doing magic or trying to fool on YT but very few have an act . Choose 3 tricks you do awesome and now make em your own . Now you are a real magician rather than someone who knows some secrets to tricks and performs bad magic thus ruining an experience of wow and wonder for someone watching . Don’t be that person

i think i'd would do the end the other way round, reveal theirs first and then yours.. because they know you're doing a magic trick, so they kind of expect you to find their card. but when they then are told that they also found yours? mindf**k!
plus you revealing their card just might have amazed them enough to forget which card the picked for you. so the moment of your card being turned over, woud be even more dramatic.
    cheers!

I think the trick has more impact on the other person if you relveal the cards in reversed order. First, reveal that you have picked their souldmate and he will be like "Yeah, he's the magican after all. Then reveal, that he has picked your card. This will blow his mind becuase he had this kinda magic power too....^^

I wish the Ultimate Marked deck wasnt discontinued because the prices are ridiculous. I really should have got them when they were in the 20 dollar range. Well, I did splurge on the 50 bucks they are selling for at amazon. These are much better than the Boris wild marked deck because the marking flow with the actual design of the cards and Honestly there are so many years of entertainment to be had with a marked deck like this.

I did a quick amazon search and couldnt find them any more. You might have to just try google and maybe some online magic shops will have some in stock but be prepared to pay top dollar. My original comment was from last year and they were 50 bucks on amazon. I couldnt even imagin how much they would be if you would find a pack somewhere. Actually Ebay does still have some but they are 100 dollars so here you go.... www.ebay.com/itm/Ultimate-Marked-Deck-BLUE-Back-Bicycle-Cards-/321199866825
