Just for the historical part of the magic, this trick was invented by Cardini and published by John Northern Hilliard in the Greater Magic. It was one of my favourite to perform before learning skills. Still a great trick!
I still don't get the relavance of the cut/short card. If they are counting and flipping the cards then flipping after choosing the last card then it will always be in the chosen numbered position of the deck when those get flipped at the end. That seems obvious.
but its hard to cut out an exact number of cards, without actually county or taking a card out everytime the point of the trick is that you can pickup that many card everytime and you can also cut the card before asking the number, so its a little bit more magic in their perspective then by showing the card is the same one, is like 100% proof of the trick going right same amount of cards, same exact card. because they can be suspicious that you might have count 2 card as 1 or something to "correctly" count the number of cards
Oh I see now. So if that's the case I would have cut the correct number BEFORE asking the secret number and asked them to count and pause on the last card for the reveal. This would role the two impressive feats into one. But that's why I love shwood's tricks. It's up to the performer to choose that sort of detail.
"Think of a number. Don't tell me the number. Place your card that many cards down from the top. Now tell me the number. I will magically find your card by counting down to it."
I think a better version of this trick would be to use a Key Card on top instead of a Short Card since a key card can be impromptu and maybe even have them shuffle the deck and 80-90% of the time the cards will stay together and you've just done a find your card without ever seeing or touching the deck (excluding finding their card obviously). Personally I'd perform this before a short card becaus it also adds a step that makes it harder to solve, shuffling, I knew how to do the trick and what was going to happen the moment he put the cards back on top and Brain turned around, but adding some mixing to it gives it a much better effect I think.
*Brian, why do you need a short card?* They literally count 12 cards, then place that stack on TOP of the deck, therefore it's the 12th card from the top... and when you "cut", you still used the top half of the deck, that *literally* cannot fool anybody, even if you do cut exactly 12 cards.
Danny451 Fuentes the answer is generally that the counted cards leave a different "feel", even with a plain deck this is actually sometimes easy to do as people don't always completely flush the deck properly. did you watch the video? It's literally a SHORT CARD
I don't know I think the more impressive part is cutting exactly the number they imagined. It's quite obvious that they put the cards facedown and that if you cut to that many cards it would be their card because they put it under that many.
The cutting the correct amount is the only real trick here. Once that's shown to be the case, the fact that it's a cut to their card is obvious. You need some false shuffles/cuts before cutting. Then, first reveal their card, then count the number of cards.
I just thought of a better version of this trick. Disregard whatever card was chosen... and just make the trick about guessing how many cards they originally chose. Once you have cut "exactly" the same amount of cards... whether or not it is their card becomes irrelevant, and just a meaningless distraction. If anything, it helps to giveaway or over-shadow the more important part of the trick... which is knowing how many cards they picked.
Great trick. Too bad it can't be done with a borrowed deck, that would have been bomb. Going to have to go back through all of your videos to see what others you have involving a shaved card.
What is this mysterious "Last" Vegas Jason speaks of? Is the reason Bryce in on screen now is to prove that no matter how much he knows about the process Brian can fool him?
The first time you didn't cut 19 cards. You just cut to the middle and took the top. So the short card wasn't necessary at all. But also it wasn't much of a trick, since you asked for the number of cards flipped, then counted back to the first card. Did this really fool anybody?
The easiest part of the trick to figure out was how you wound up on the same card they selected, given you were specifically told the number of cards that they selected. This is just common sense that you would wind up on the same card after they flipped the face up cards over. The trickier part is figuring out that there was a short card. You could even go further and tell your audience that you were going to count the number they selected and for them to whisper their number to an assistant, still leaving the impression that you shouldn't know the number they selected, which you don't, but it doesn't matter.
Just Bryce and Jason? No intro? And was that a recycled ad? It feels like you forgot to shoot an episode until like 7pm last night and tried to make one as fast as possible!
The trick is he supposedly cut directly to their card before they said how far down it was. Even if they tell him the number of cards down it is to just pick up the exact amount you need in one go is extremely difficult unless you're cheating. Try it out for yourself. Get a deck of cards, pick a number, then try to pick up that exact amount of cards with one hand by cutting the deck and without counting the cards you're picking up. Chances are you can't.
I mean if you put cards from the bottom to the top and then flip them of courae the one on top will be the last after you count their number, i feel like this one is kinda weak.
It being the correct card is the proving point. You could double count cards or count two cards as one if you cut incorrectly. This proves you had exactly the number of cards.
I...don't get it. I don't even see a trick here. What am I not seeing. You flip X cards on top. you look at card #x, you turn that stack over, you count to X, and that card is the card they saw. I mean of course it is. I feel dense. What are we supposed to be surprised by?
oohhh, is it just the precise cut? Ok, I guess I get that, but it's a trick that in theory you could just defeat by skill (IE you could in theory be that good at cutting)
I would have been surprised if the n-th card flipped by the magician was anything BUT what it was before, as no one changes the order and no one reshuffles... so I guess the entire trick relies on cutting EXACTLY to the correct amount of cards. First time Bryan performed, it was not even a trick.
I love seeing these really simple tricks to remind people how easy it is to start, then practicing to do harder tricks.
Just for the historical part of the magic, this trick was invented by Cardini and published by John Northern Hilliard in the Greater Magic. It was one of my favourite to perform before learning skills. Still a great trick!
Love how easy this is to make/perforn and an amazing reveal! Thanks, Brian!!
The card reveal was brain dead simple and easy to guess, the cutting exactly the number of cards they said was ingenious.
Thank you for these tricks. Love learning how some of these are done. Please keep them coming.
Jason Murphy is back!!

I didn't know Jason Murphy was a Brain surgeon by day...
That's Brian surgeon. Geesh.
He's not a Grain Surgeon
He's a Brian Surgeon. Cuz Brian keeps injuring himself and hospital bills are expensive
0:58 "It's only a 5-minute show"
*Looks at video length*
Dammit with these ads!
There is many magic channels.. but this sooo magic friendly hard to explain
But this channel is special
I actually watched your ad. good job on being entertaining.
This is great, I'm definitely using this next time I'm at the bar!

Where’s the Jason Murphy playlist?? What’s the episode where Jason learns to palm a card and is around a couple more magicians? I wanna watch that!
Jump to 4:15 for the walkthrough of the trick
I've watched way too many of these, I saw the trick when Brian did it and knew what the trick was. I've learned!

Love this show
"Think of a number. Don't tell me the number. Place your card that many cards down from the top. Now tell me the number. I will magically find your card by counting down to it."
I too don't see the magic in it
Brice you should have made the sale amount of domains shoot up in the end of the ad
Use a breather crimp instead and you can do it with a borrowed deck
I so love the Dave Allen Music in between. BRIAAAN !! Did you pick that music on purpose? Or you don't even know who Dave Allen is?
I think a better version of this trick would be to use a Key Card on top instead of a Short Card since a key card can be impromptu and maybe even have them shuffle the deck and 80-90% of the time the cards will stay together and you've just done a find your card without ever seeing or touching the deck (excluding finding their card obviously). 4:40
Why does the "Dave Allen at large" theme song always pop up in the videos?
Please do a show on the devils elevator card trick
I don't know I think the more impressive part is cutting exactly the number they imagined. It's quite obvious that they put the cards facedown and that if you cut to that many cards it would be their card because they put it under that many.

Would the apex deck be a good fit for this?
I just thought of a better version of this trick. Disregard whatever card was chosen... and just make the trick about guessing how many cards they originally chose. I have the Motor Phoner Blazer, it is an amazing phone
Great trick. Too bad it can't be done with a borrowed deck, that would have been bomb. Going to have to go back through all of your videos to see what others you have involving a shaved card.
I could taste the humidity on that deck of cards
I noticed the cut, though it was suspicious but didnt know the short card yet
THAT’S SO AMAZING !
um, i live in texas near austin...
where can i stalk you good sir
i dont get how you know which card they will pick so you can trim of the edge of one card
Cool trick
I personall was dissapointed as I was looking to do this with REGULAR deck
Whatdid he done with top card ????
So what happens if someone notices your short card?
If you do your job right, nobody will ever, ever notice.
Not really a "random deck" if you have to do something to it before the trick
Nice monstercat shirt
super bro but i have dupicated card its not suitable for shuffle and fake at any more so pls suggest me any branded cards pls ans me
This is cool!!
Is this still on TV or just a youtube channel thing?
Nice trick nice video and i am your biggest fan
Thanks!
Tips on making a short card?
With scizzors and a steady hand, cut a sliver off one of the shorter edges.
Try with scissors to shave a small edge off and sand it a bit to keep it smooth
I feel like I've seen you two somewhere before...
Hi Brian
What is this mysterious "Last" Vegas Jason speaks of? Is the reason Bryce in on screen now is to prove that no matter how much he knows about the process Brian can fool him?
Ok so if y'all BOTH are all shuffling the cards how are you supposed to get the short card in the right position?
WOW.very gooooood
wow thnx man its crazy
The first time you didn't cut 19 cards. You just cut to the middle and took the top. So the short card wasn't necessary at all. But also it wasn't much of a trick, since you asked for the number of cards flipped, then counted back to the first card. Did this really fool anybody?
I must have been really lucky because it worked without the cut card
I totally picked the four.
I was watching a cooking channel.
He said this is for people with crap cards but he’s got some really nice cards. 😆😂😆😂
Well, yes... but that deck has been around the block and lost a few cards over the past year. :-)
I know it was just a joke.😀 I love this channel and love to learn all these wonderful tricks
ITS MURPHY!!!!!!!! ...oh, Brian's there too... hi...
Before I find out what it is, I'm guessing its either a short card or a crimp.
well done!
El Pig strikes again!
#hamfam 4 life. Pigcake! Pigcake! Pigcake Plus!
Nice
Bryce is so cute
Man... everyone is using skeewiff music these days ! linus and now here... not that I complain !
This is the simplest trick yet, askig what number they had then taking off that many cards isnt a trick its just asking where their card is
Bet you cant do a snap on! Bet!
Perform devils elevator
Actually you can perform same trick...Instead a 'marked card' you can use a key card
The easiest part of the trick to figure out was how you wound up on the same card they selected, given you were specifically told the number of cards that they selected. This is just common sense that you would wind up on the same card after they flipped the face up cards over. The trickier part is figuring out that there was a short card. Your new look 😂👍😅
Briaaaaan he's name is pigcake😊
Just Bryce and Jason? No intro? And was that a recycled ad?
It feels like you forgot to shoot an episode until like 7pm last night and tried to make one as fast as possible!
But if that's true, and this is your lowest quality, you're doing great!
Am I missing something.??....wheres the trick when they tell you the number of cards.....its obviously going to be the card you count down to???????
The trick is he supposedly cut directly to their card before they said how far down it was. Even if they tell him the number of cards down it is to just pick up the exact amount you need in one go is extremely difficult unless you're cheating.

Murphy.
im french and i didnt understand anything
Of course it's not a trick, it's a joke!!!
I mean if you put cards from the bottom to the top and then flip them of courae the one on top will be the last after you count their number, i feel like this one is kinda weak.

Good video as usual. Just needs improvement on video quality. Seems blurry
Those to btiches are drinking water lol
*holy shit that background intrusive music is so annoying*
I heard them say 19! Either I'm psychic, or I haven't watched the full video and missed something.
Was I the only one who heard the guy say 19 to Jason?
No, it was pretty loud
They would have edited the video to isolate Bryce's voice and make it louder so that we could hear it.
First comment!!!!!!!!!!!!
First?
Not a fan of Jason, don't know why, i just find him unimpressive.
First
8th comment😊 keep making videos!

why the drop in views?
it's new
