  • This is a side-by-side comparison of two 2wd sct, Slash and Pro2 SC10. For anyone planning on getting into the hobby, setting a budget is most import along with establishing a realistic purpose of use. This aside, these are my thoughts.

Traxxas uses flex on mounts less brittle don’t usually break. They have resolved most of the shock caps issues 👍🏽 3500 KV velineon will push it 54 mph on 2s. I’m a 2s guy as well again excellent video great info comparison TY.

Great to find 2s guys. I keep putting off my MT410 video, but 2s is plenty for the terrain I have available.

flexible parts on racing trucks don't shatter, stiff parts do... 👍🏼

That is probably why RPM has made so much money making Traxxas replacement parts.

If you are going to race you will probably need a transponder.

Just use a house transponder. Or get a MyLaps as I have. Just make sure to get one compatible with the track as there are two main styles.

Wow, I haven't seen a house transponder in a long time.
The last time I really remember seeing one was a kid lost one at an outdoor race after dark. Delayed things probably an hour. I think I found it because of the little red power indicator light.@@telecomandorc

Is this truck any good at racing or is it only good for bashing? I am very tempted to get this and start racing (don't have budget for anything more expensive).

The Associated Pro2 SC10 is good for racing. Especially a dirt track. Carpet... it will do well. But it is more of a dirt race truck. Not the Slash though. It is too heavy.

Pro2 SC10 is better. Especially with the gullwing arm options. Now, I did build a very competitive Slash (ua-cam.com/video/iKUqx3rVwco/v-deo.html), but I think the AE is still a better out of the box option and less expensive in the end.

Or you can just save up to get the better truck ..

      Always the best option. 😁
I am not "picking" on the 2wd Slash. It is a good truck for someone to learn of mess about in a backyard... but I ran into a very nice kid at the track with a Slash and he was having troubles with it. It's a Slash, so shocks were the initial issue. He bought it because it wasn't that "expensive" and did not know if he would like RCs or not. A base Arrma Typhon $230... $30 more and it is much better. Not necessarily the best. But he ended up spending more on the Slash after the Shock upgrades.

I run a significantly modified Slash in a 10.5T SCT class. Up against Losi and AE trucks, it is reasonably competitive. It is a pity Traxxas never took the Slash seriously as a racing chassis. It has potential waiting to be unlocked.

Could not agree more. I did a nitro chassis conversion instead of a regular LCG... it is the best Slash setup using affordable Traxxas parts (video below). Many 2WD race SCT are not great for bashing, but this Slash is. So, it's a two-in-one.
