    My biggest reason for going with Traxxas is they have been selling the same vehicles for many years, so it never becomes outdated. I have Associated and Losi sitting on my shelf for many years and will not run them because of fear of breaking parts that they no longer sell. Traxxas is perfect for me as I only bash around the track any more. If I was into racing again, then I would have the others.

    I had both and had a problem with a defective diff in the sc10 that several other racers at our track endured so I sold the sc10 and kept the slash and never had issues and set up right the slash will and does give the sc10 a run for it's money. I have also never broke anything on my slash but that might depend on your driving ability.

    Y'all need to calm down. The point of this is not whether it is "fair" but to compare two of the leading short course trucks someone may consider today. To many buyers, this comparison is extremely useful. Most buyers know that one model should outperform the other with the 33% price difference. The question in their minds is "why" and "how," and is the higher price worth it.

    Seems pretty biased comparing a 2008 era slash to a new SC10. A fair comparison would have been a slash Ultimate or Platinum with the LCG chassis which have comparable price points.

    • @sudsrc8261
      @sudsrc8261 6 років тому +2

      Comparable price points? The SC10 currently sells for $300. The Platinum (discontinued now) sells for $400 and the Ultimate is north of $500. Those two are also 4WD where the SC10 is 2WD so I don't think it makes sense to compare 2WD vs 4WD.
      That being said, yeah he's comparing a $300 brushless 2WD RC to a $189 brushed 2WD vehicle. So by that same standard, yeah the SC10 should be better.
      I suppose it'd be more fair if he upgraded the slash with the LCG & a brushless setup.

      @John Lujan If you are getting it to do actual dirt oval racing, I would go the correct way in doing street stock with starting out with a buggy. I got a bandit vxl and ripped out the esc and motor and sold it for $140 and replaced them with a hobbywing esc and motor and got different body posts and mounts for the body and sold the bandit body for $25. Then I dropped the shocks with 1/2 spacers inside and 80w and 25w shock oils and put an anti slip mount and 32 spur gear. I also got associated wheels and proline tires for it and I am going to get a spectrum radio and 2 receivers so I can link it up with my mudboss as well and I will sell the stock radios and receivers. The team associated street stock isn't the best for oval racing (watch the AMainHobbies video on it) and I dont think that many tracks allow it unless you do major work on it. So its better to convert a buggy and be able to tune it yourself with getting different things for it. But I would talk to someone at your local track to see what they say about it. Also, if you go with converting a buggy, everything pays for its self for the most part after you sell the electronics and parts you dont need.

    You’re saying you broke hinge pins on your Slash. I had my Slash for almost 4 years and I haven’t broken one single part from that truck yet and almost all my stock hinge pins were all kinda rusted out. Also, this comparison doesn’t make sense at all. If you compared the Slash 2WD LCG Chassis with a Velineon VXL brushless system with the SC10 Pro that already comes with a brushless motor setup, then that would be a better comparison.

    I own both short course trucks and you can’t really compare them. For 180 or 220 you get a ready to go short course compare to a a sc10 it’s 300 or 340 depending the place where u buy it from. It’s just the kit. You have to build which kits come with plenty of upgrades especially team associated with all the aluminum parts. With the sc10 you have to buy everything for it.The motor, esc, servo, batteries, and probably a remote if you don’t have one. Really unfair Comparison if you ask me.

    Would’ve been a better and more fair comparison, if the two trucks were more closely outfitted. As in both having 2 and 3s compatibility. Both having brushless motors, etc. You can’t compare an entry level truck, with a more competitive higher end model. Even if they were the same brand, it still wouldn’t be fair. If that Slash had a brushless system in it, it’s electronics would be better. It’s servos would be better to handle the additional stresses and Power. Almost everything on it would be of better quality, and not just because of the price. But it would be a step up from entry level components, to a more race ready vehicle. Not a fair review at all. And no I’m not a big Traxxas fan, I’m a Losi fan, so I am not biased one way or the other. For Traxxas or Team Associated. You did not do a Head To Head comparison, as it states in the title of your video.
