    Don Henley has one of the most amazing singing voices I ever heard.Glen Frey has a great soothing voice that I always love to hear.That being said,I am on the side of Don Felder and it's funny but it was watching History of the Eagles that made me take notice of Felder more.I researched him all over you tube and not only did he make the difference in where the band went but he is the kind of guy that makes you wanna see more of him.Great guy with such a great personable way about him.

    In one interview, Mr.Glen Frey said only me, Don and Joe. He didn’t even remember the newest Bassist and lead vocal who could sing wonderfully and writes songs beautifully. You should recognize every group member ,especially the one who is so talented and charismatic.

    I agree SuperBeatlesguy. Randy Meisner, Birney Leadon and Don Felder were extraordinary members of the Eagles and were summarily cast aside by Frey and Henley whose primary interest, in my opinion, were themselves.
    No question but that T.B. Schmidt and Joe Walsh are very good additions to the band, but unfortunately Henley and Frey forgot who helped bring them to their success. During their induction into to R&R HOF Timothy Schmidt acknowledged as much. Frey & Henley wanted most of the credit.

    Felder did write all he music to Hotel California, and Henley wrote the lyrics. Were you aware that the Eagles always named the primary song writer first on the CD label and any other contributors to the song were listed next.That's how it used to be on the Hotel California CD label; but now Henley & Frey are listed first and Don Felder is last! Your thoughts? The same for Take It To The Limit. All music was written by Meisner and lyrics by Henley, but Henley and Frey are again named first.

      Sometimes business takes over the band. I would say the reason Frey and Henley are now first is because they are the founding members and the songs were written for the Eagles band. The problem w bands is many ppl including some of its members treat it as a clubhouse as opposed to a business. If Randy doesn't want to sing Take It To The Limit live anymore he's wasting the fan's time. If the founding members want to do less country and more rock then Bernie has to accept or move on and Don Felder was hired as a guitarist and background vocalist, not as a lead singer. All in all I feel you can't go wrong with picking your favorite Eagle and The Eagles left us with timeless music that I'm sure they can be proud of. None of these guys is broke, lonely or childless. RIP Glenn.

    So true! A band is always the sum of all of its parts,and Felder was a HUGE part. Frey really comes off as the arrogant,decision-maker. All the ex-Eagles seemed to have left after run-ins with him. The History of the Eagles tour is not a true 'history' if it doesn't include Felder,and even Meisner. Felder wrote some of the most recognizable guitar licks in history! Who can listen to 'One Of These Nights' without playing air guitar on those first 2 notes!? Hotel California?

    You do know that he wrote all of Hotel California except for the lyrics? I'd say that all the other members of the band would be worth a lot less if Felder didn't write it. Plus have you seen any interviews with him? He looks like the most humble and down to earth rock star out there.

    Frey's right (even though he really doesn't believe it)... the music is way bigger than the members of the group. I'm sure Henley and Frey still lose sleep over the fact that Don Felder wrote and has the most memorable role in their biggest hit. What they did to him was borderline inhuman.

    • @lynnturman8157
      @lynnturman8157 9 років тому +1

      terryr55 I'm sure they DON'T lose sleep. Felder only wrote ONE PART (the chord progression) of Hotel California (that part WASN'T the lyrics, the melody, the title, the chorus, the harmonies). And Felder wrote NO PARTS of all dozens of other massive hits they had.

    • @terryr55
      @terryr55 9 років тому

      Lynn Turman" The song began as a demo tape, an instrumental by Don Felder."- Glenn FreyGeez...without that you pretty much don't have a song...

    • @lynnturman8157
      @lynnturman8157 9 років тому +1

      terryr55 The demo you're referring to was the chord progression played over and over. That's it. No words, no melody, no title, no chorus, no harmonies. It was one element of all the elements needed to create a song.

    • @terryr55
      @terryr55 9 років тому

      Lynn Turman Well, there's always two sides to every story...and according to just about everyone in the know Frey & Henley are two of the biggest egomaniacs in popular music history (no small feat), so I'd take just about anything they say with a grain of salt! Besides that, in the limited time I've played the guitar (48 years) I've always thought the chord progression WAS the melody...silly me, thank you very much for correcting me on that (?).

    • @lynnturman8157
      @lynnturman8157 9 років тому +1

      terryr55 Everyone in the know? Bullshit. You mean NO ONE in the know. Show me ONE example of people who KNOW either Frey or Henley saying something bad about them. There's only been one: Don Felder. And,uh, no. The chord progression is NOT the melody. Don't know if you've ever been in a band those 48 years you were playing guitar but if you were, you might've noticed somebody singing while you were playing. Did you hear the NOTES they were singing to the words of the song? THAT'S the melody.

    I also wanna know what reason Frey and Henley had to not give Felder the same money.He was there at the early stage and contributed a great deal to their success.I feel it was a big slap in the face and he was right to be mad at that.Frey didn't like the fact that Felder outshined him.It shows now just look how awesome Felder is doing now and he seems happier.Best wishes to you Mr.Felder!!

    I checked out the wealth of these guys. Don Henley is shown as being worth over 250 million dollars whilst Glenn Frey has considerably less ( 70 million ). Not sure why there should be such a difference especially when it was hinted in the documentary that Don Henley was sued for 30 million.
    You could see in the documentary that FELDER was really upset about his demise from the band but he knew, having been shown the door once, that they were unlikely to put up with him moaning about his pay.

    Absolutely agree with you, stevedrums. Felder ultimately received his due when he won a huge court case vs. Henley, Frey, Eagles, Ltd. and other Eagle interests. He is a very rich man...worth reputedly $60,000,000 still after giving his ex-wife Susan one half of his settlement. Don't cry for Don Felder! I agree. He is a gentleman and an accomplished artist. Randy Meisner and Birney Leadon receive a substantial income from royalties but don't enjoy the same wealth as Don Felder.

    duffgen62 Don Felder really misses being a part of the Eagles. However, from a financial perspective he Is fine. Although the settlement of his lawsuit was sealed he nevertheless is reputed to be worth $60,000,000. (that after giving his ex-wife, Susan, 1/2 of the settlement.) Obviously it must have settled for over $120,000,000.

    Felder is a gentleman and is reflected in his book. Henley & Frey treated him like crap and deserve the scorn they get regarding that issue. When you sign a contract or make a committment, live up to it and be greatful. Henley & Frey did neither.

    I like how Frey tried to discount Felder's contributions to the band. I listened to both, "Long Road Out of Eden," and, "Road to Forever." Felder's solo album beats the crap out of the poor Eagles' release.

    Agree,Boyka Rulz. But don't feel sorry for Don Felder. He is a very rich man after winning his lawsuit against Frey, Henley, Eagles Ltd. and their agent, Irving Azoff. His net worth is considered to be around $60,000,000., and that's after giving his wife Susan 1/2 of the settlement which he thought she deserved because she had been as much of an Eagle as he had been because of her sacrifices when he was gone months at a time while on the road and she was home alone raising their children.

    Joe is moving back and forth like he wants to tell the truth. Don who made his name on attacking corporate greed is nothing but a hypocrite. If you piss him or Frey off they have a whole team of corporate lawyers ready to sue your ass. Smith is a good guitar player no doubt about it. But like Joe Walsh he is just a paid independent contractor. That last cd or whatever you want to call it sucked. Felder is not only a great guitar player but more importantly he is a great musician.
