I grew up here. I know this lake well. When I was growing up, it was just a swamp to me. But, he's right. It's breathtakingly beautiful in a way that defies description. You just have to experience it.

Thanks for this footage, Don! My 80 yr old mom, "La", grew up in Longview and currently works at Lover's Lane Antique Market. Be nice to her! I studied Biology, then Pharmacy. Natural Medicinal Chemistry, (Pharmacognosy) is no longer taught! I find this quite ironic. My wife, Lisa, lived in Gilmer. Privacy is of concern and respected! We journey to Oahu next week to visit my brother, nephew, and to study it's ecosystem! Mr Cousteau should be there as well. Thanks for your conscience and help!

I thought my Dad was a walking Discovery channel when it came to Caddo, but he's met his match - LOL , We went there so many times w/ our Dad. As a child growing up in East Texas, Caddo was definitely unique. The cypress trees and alligators made Caddo seem spooky, but as Don pointed out, there is so much more - and I believe it's the only natural lake in the state of Texas. I was so impressed w/this I had to send it to my Dad on Facebook. Thank you for sharing that.

Just came back from Caddo Lake after spending a week's vacation there. Just beautiful as Don says. Don, you may be happy to know they're finally getting a handle on the Giant Salvinia. There's not a great photo opportunity there as it dies back, but it does look like the control measures are working. I'd really like to see the lake as I remember it before the infestation.

    Don Henley,
Your song , Hotel California is being played everyday at the hospital bed where my nephew now lays in a coma.😢
He was struck by a truck on his way to middle school riding his bike.
He loved this song since he was a toddler, his mom played it to him and his eyes would light up.
We are hoping , he would wake up from his deep sleep.
    Please pray for us.

Never give up hope and prayer . I know your grief and share your tears . We had a bad crash
in 2022 and my wife ended up in coma from a mistake the hospital made . Her doctor told me
"You might want to let her go peacefully , she won't get any better." this was after 3 weeks , 3
days later she opened her eye's . Then they told her she would never walk . I have a UA-cam
channel and had people from all over the world praying for her , and a church full of prayer
warriors that don't believe the words can't or quit is in their Bible . And for sure don't use those words when it comes to what Jesus can do . She was in ITC for 3 months and rehab another
month . She came home in a wheelchair and learned to walk at home with my help and the grace of God . I will ask for prayer for you and your son . Trust in Jesus and all things are possible . I've seen over and over his power through believers . Love and our blessings .

Don, this is Lisa. I broke the flashlight while camping at Lake Caddo. It is the darkest spot on earth at night when the moon does not shine! The "tannic" waters are so unique! It's erie and beautiful at the same time! Sends chills up my spine, as does your music!!!...Hint, always bring backup flashlight..... :-) Hooo Hooo witchy woman comes to mind!

  • @goofydog2

They (the Eagles' lawyers) seem to be keeping nearly all of Henley and the Eagles music off UA-cam. Damn shame in my view! They've made more than enough off me (I've purchased every album they and Don ever made, plus 3 tours) and the millions of other Eagles/Don Henley fans have done so too. ...It was a nice 2-3 year run of getting to watch them do their thing on UA-cam. I especially loved seeing Randy and Bernie along with Glenn and Don. That was the original group and the one I miss most.

I grew up on this lake and at age 12 watched an alligator eat my dog. So if you plan to visit please watch your dogs closely. However he is very right you will never find a lake so beautiful and peaceful. Its an amazing place to see.

Caddo Lake is the only Natural Lake in Texas

    • @ggibson511960
      @ggibson511960 3 місяці тому

Wrong. Caddo Lake is just another meandering backwater tributary of the Red River. It is impounded by a dam in Louisiana. It is nice for sure, but for Henley to call it the most beautiful place on Earth is a stretch. I’ve duck hunted a lot on another Red River tributary, Little River. It is wilder and more unspoiled than Caddo Lake. Too many creeks in east Texas were chemical sewers in the 50’s and 60’s from oil production, including Big Cypress Bayou from whence Caddo comes. I’m sure Henley has fond memories of Caddo. My memories of summers in Kilgore and Longview near Caddo are of creeks and tap water that reeked of sulfur.

Wow, I just realized that Mr. Henley's speaking voice, the cadence sounds like George W Bush...it must be the Texas accent, which neither sound so southern. I was not a fan of W., but I sure do love Don Henley!!

  • @mav51063

beautiful scenery, but all of Don Henley's speech is "muted" out. Can't hear a thing he's saying.

  • @ellitestar

I think he - exagerates on it's beauty, to me it's just a frikin river, I guess it's because i've always been a city slicker... I Loath the outdoors. I love his awesome music though "Down On The Sunset Grill" is my favorite. I know i'm going to get allot of crap for this comment.

Jeezus he's starting to sound like Ted Nugent. The only difference is Nuge' would have blown away a few of the "species" and he'd be grilling them.
