Sir Bernth what should I do to give me electric guitar sir bernth I'm guitar player from Philippines when I see your lessons and youtube a really wanna become a better guitar player but my guitar is broke I don't know how can get another guitar I'm just a poor guy what should I do to give me?
This was a great example of how much cleaner/clearer it sounds to our ears when you play notes that highlight roots, 3rds, 7ths and minor/major tonalities which follow the chord progression. Makes the composition sound much less muddled.
Been playing blues for years finally getting into metal and it's so much fun to play. Blues makes a bad day bearable but metal brings life to a dead soul.
Hey, Bernth. I just want you to know that you're one of the best guitar teachers out there and you're one who teach me a lot. You are a blessing men! 🤘🔥
i have been playing for 35 years and only recently been focusing on triads - i really wished i knew this decades ago. really helps. Now I know what Hendrix was thinking and all the others that followed. Very well explained as well, great teacher and knows his theory
I’ve seen 100 videos on stuff like this but the way you show it made the light finally come on for me. I was like your first example an sometimes guilty of doing your second example as well but this made so much sense to me.
I'm a 50 year old "shred" guy I'm about 8 mins into this video which so far I'll say is great but would like to add there is so so much that can be said for slow bend right at the moment of the "defining chord" of piece of music that is just precious. When I say defining chord I mean the chord which is theoretically directing you to use a certain mode - the slow bend at that right time also gives you time to plan our next move :) - great vid well done mate
Excellent video Bernth, as always. This is something I’ve been trying to dive in to lately, but having a hard time. If you ever decide to do a masterclass on improvising like how you demonstrated in this video, with chord changes in key, proper triads, etc. I (and many others I think) would purchase it in a heartbeat. Thanks again for the wonderful lesson!
Really helpful instruction! You are a great teacher. I love how you break down the solo with each chord individually and the scales. So detailed but easy to understand. I’ve been playing guitar forever and I finally feel like I’m starting to get it
Not only did you play along with the chords but you also built melody along the solo and not just licks. Something you can whistle and hum to. You also had the tasteful choice of shredding at the end to end with a bang instead of frying the ears with only shred. Very great examples Bernth!
Brilliant, playing outside the box. Building riffs from the changing chord structures is a very useful approach especially if you find yourself stuck in a box and struggling for note inspiration. Great lesson....subscribed!👍
Man i started to watch your channel today. Ahh! I mean sir i just subscribed you today i had a recommended video of your i loved it. I think your channel is an door to the guitar encyclopedia. Thank you so much this are really helpful and thank you again for teaching people for free. ❤️🙏
First of all, Bernth is the one of the best teachers on UA-cam and makes the lessons fun. Number two he's an amazing player. But for this lesson I knew the terminology he was saying but when he was putting it together in sentences which then turned into paragraphs which then have to be put into practice, i felt like I've never touched the instrument before in my life, lol.
There are thousands upon thousands of guitar lessons that we have to choose from and that we are exposed to. Some are better than others. But, most of them fall short in providing the actual instruction, leaving the 'secrets' of guitar a guarded secret. For example, modes. I don't have to go much further than that to get the head nods of agreement. While I won't hypothesize why that is, I will say that you're approach to teaching guitar is one of the best I've seen. Your focus on discipline, musicianship and quality are presented upfront...not as an afterthought. Your examples and practice exercises aren't abstract. They are well thought-out and purposeful routines...tools that can be applied and used regularly. Remarkable instruction and entertainment value!! Keep up the good work. \,,/( * *)\,,/
I agree with you - when I was much younger ( before the internet ) I borrowed a lot of books from my local library and taught myself " the modes" amongst other things. Modes - are just 7 scale patterns BUT it's the endless application of them is why there's so much "mystery " and it would take an extensive series of videos to explain especially to a beginner, or even in my experience as an ex guitar teacher to do. All I can say in this shortish comment is to learn them and I'm sure a little lightbulb will appear above your head :) good luck and rock on
Thanks! This is where I'm at, trying to become something better than nothing at guitaring. I 'know' this stuff, but these lessons help me get good at it.
@@Bernthguitar I got a beautiful 2010 Dark Space RG 2570z in immaculate condition - first prestige I've grabbed and i won't hesitate to upgrade when the time/price is right! It has the Vai Evolution H/S/H set in it.

There are a couple ways of doing it lol, the most melodic is the caged system (what he recommends). Learning the Pentatonic in the 5 positions is good if you wanna improvise but dont want to think to much. Either way takes alot of focus and study/practice, good luck friends
I joined your Patreon earlier this week and am loving the content so far!! So excited to have found your channel and this exercise is something I was only thinking about earlier so happy that you have an exercise on it already
Honestly I like the first solo more .... I'm going to try and learn that this week because that solo alone is already more advanced than where I currently am as a guitar player but ya sounds great man
Wosh, this just sounds incredibly beautiful! Simple trick, but sounds amazing! As in another comment from a musician here, can't thank you enough for this lesson, I feel as if you had opened my eyes! :3
So refreshing to see/hear some slower spaced out melodic lines. With so much speed shredding out there, its nice to see someone incorporating both quick and slow used together. 🤘🏼🎸. Shred on, my friend.
Bernth, I'm so excited to join your community and can't wait until I have the time to sit down a truly go over these exercises! (In a week, after my school semester is over). This seems to be what I have been looking for all these years. I've been playing guitar (on and off) since the late 90s and my skills are total trash. Yes I can play some Metallica rhythm guitar parts and, riff lords willing, I can come up with (super basic) okay riffs on my own but I can't lead to same my own skin let alone shred (which is what made me pick up the guitar in the first place). Im confident that with your videos and putting in the work my skills will multiple 10folds. Thank you! \m/

You amaze me in every video. I wish I had technique and knowledge like you. Most of what you are saying goes over my head.
Nice technique guy. I really apreciate your song. Keep going. God bless you. Bye!

Your bad "what not to do" solos still sound good to me.
Son that “bad playing” was fire 😂😂.
Yea don’t do that (while he rips that guitar up) 😂
It's not "bad". Just amateur.
@@starcravingmatt Derivative is the word I would use not amateur. No amateur can play like that.

I thought this was another of those clickbaity type videos but it literally is such a good video on approaching soloing!
It’s like getting a lesson from Mozart, Beethoven and Paganini at the same time... brilliant!

The lesson just in the right moment for me, that's what i was looking for! Thanks a lot, Bernth!
What is proven here is that just because you can shred doesn't mean you always should. Really impressed with the approach and explanation.
You are a really great teacher.
Marty Friedman uses exotic scales but it is the triads that makes his solos much more melodic and unique.
Great vidéo ! My jazz teacher was insisting on me learning the triads but I didn't know how to use them. Now I understand !
You always amazing
