Another magnificent series of videos. Living in London and understandably more informed on British military history and WW1/WW2, my previous knowledge of the Overland Campaign was at Ken Burns documentary level. The level of detail and clarity in these videos has improved my knowledge substantially. It’s invaluable to see the terrain, to understand what occurred. Compliments to Garry, Kris, Dan, Sarah, Chris, Andy and the other LBGs, for your excellence in delivering these videos. On this side of the pond, we have had some good presenters covering British and European military history, Richard Holmes (War Walks) and Michael Wood (In Search Of), to name a couple. In comparison, your team matches anything they have produced on the BBC. Keep saving those battlefields! Mick - London.

Five men in the 8th New York HA were involved in recovering Colonel Porter's body, including Leroy Williams. The Porter family presented medals made by Tiffany to these men after the war. I have seen at least one of these medals sell at auction.

Thank you ABT for this engaging and informative trip on the Overland Campaign. Truly shows show how relentless and awful the war became by 1864. Also shows how nothing was settled in that summer and that the outcome of the war was still very much in doubt. Also enjoyed park ranger perspectives. I learned a lot. Proud to be a member of ABT!

Grant should have left Meade in charge after Wilderness and taken charge of James Army and forced through at Petersburg and Richmond. Cutting off Lee from his base and supply lines. Too much ego 😂

I am heading to Gettysburg with my 2 best friends next week for a girls trip. The hardest part for me is me to wrap my head around is that it’s not just a single battle but many many moving parts and many conflicts all happening at once. It had to be chaos!

They did one a couple of years ago with Will Greene (he used to be the president of the APCWS, Association for the Preservation of Civil War Sites, the forerunner of today's ABT). Will has written several books on the Petersburg Campaign of 64/65.

I portrayed someone who was in the 8th New York heavy artillery for the Ionia county historical society’s highland park cemetery tour in Ionia, Michigan, his name was John Sherman, who moved to Ionia after the war and he lived into the 1920s in the Ionia County area.

The amount of confederate sympathizers in these comments is ridiculous. Y’all lost. Fair and square. And no, you were not fighting for “freedom” or “rights” y’all were specifically fighting to preserve your way of life. Slavery. And any other narrative to the contrary is just silly at this point.
