Excellent review! do you know of the model number for the 22-23 TRD Pro? Their website is brutal and outdated and they wont respond on what I need to order. Assume maybe its the 2nd gen listed? Thanks!
This was the best thing I've bought for our 24' Tundras by far. All the annoying aspects are gone and they feel like real trucks again. Worth every cent, and we're subscribed on the annual plan lol
I had the dealership turn mine off when it went in for the 5k inspection and really like how quiet is it now. Only hear the turbos when you press your foot down.
Hello everyone, I just got my Carista obd2 turned off the fake engine sound and I’m LOVING to be able to hear the twin turbos, and also all the DING DING DING DING 😅 annoying seat belt alarms! Thank you Jon once again!
I’m thinking what some find annoying, others do not, especially regarding a monthly fee. The start stop is the least invasive version of any car/truck, mostly not kicking in at all.
For the parking break you can push and hold in the off position and the auto parking break will turn off. Hold on to turn it back on. I constantly get out of my car at work and i keep it off because i hate it ripping the e break.
This would be an great addition for a little extra write off at the end of the year. Also would this work for the 5th gen 4Runner? Auto roll down and remote start would make this its worth its weight in gold.
Thanks for this video. I too think the fake V8 sound is ridiculous. I would have not known it was generated only in the cabin without your video. I purchased the Carista and that thing is sweet. Keep the good tips coming.
Toyota OEM has always had the worst remote start. Fortin Evo is awesome, but they’re Canadian. Start-X is a company that uses Fortin products with the proper factory harnesses included, makes it really simple to install yourself here in the USA. I’ve had their remote start in my truck about 3 years, no complaints at all. Unfortunately since they’re Canadian their app can’t start your truck, but the OEM keyfob can. They also offer long range keyfobs, which I haven’t tried. I go for the fob to my chin method. You can unlock your truck with the fob, relock it with the key, get inside and adjust air, etc without it shutting off. You cannot listen to music/radio in remote start, press the brake pedal, or touch the gear shifter, otherwise the truck will shut off,(not for audio, that just isn’t available until the key is in the ignition) and once you place the key in the ignition you turn the key to on instead of cranking it up again. I adjust my air to where I want it before I get out of the truck. But it stays on when you touch the handle. 👍
Hey Jon! So, thanks for the headsup! I got the Carista OBD2 module and it's installed... Seatbelt(s) DiNg dOnG Gone! Fake aSs V8 sound (horrible) GONE! Still gotta play around with the app & settings for the windows and a couple other things, but overall, a major WIN!
The amount of flex in the plastic when you plugged the device into the OBD port is disappointing. For the amount of money you're investing in a truck... you would think things would be better
Bought a 24 Tundra limited, love the truck, absolutely hate the "V8" piped in exhaust note, it sounds artificial, I'm gonna do the app, Thank you bro !!!
I drove taxis for 9 years. Had our mechanic disable my seatbelt warning chimes for my safety. I ALWAYS drove with my seatbelt, I drove 15-17 hours a day, I didn’t need a reminder. So how was it for my safety then? Well, if you had someone bad trying to do something bad to you, they wouldn’t hear you disengage your seatbelt. The worst thing you could be in a compromised situation is to be strapped in. I’ll be disengaging my alarms on my Tundra the day I get it. 👍🏼 And don’t get me started on the fake V8 noise. What a STUPID idea. Seriously.
like always keep the good videos coming very informative that gizmo it would be nice if it gave you an electronic voice of Optimus prime tundra roll out! my friend Scott would lose his mind.
Bumping the AC down 2 degrees made my 23 Limited a lot nicer to drive as summer arrives. I cancelled the subscription after making my initial changes, which also included the banning the exhaust sound
I have OBD2 scanner I purchased 4 years ago. Called BlueDriver it cost me 100 dollars 4 years ago. No monthly fee.. I used it million of times for all my cars and my friends
I got one for free, their office is in my hometown. They gave them away to anyone who came and let them scan their vehicle. They wanted some test data. Good tool but I don’t think it can do what carista does. I’ll know when my new tundra finally shows up.
On my still current 2019 Tundra Limited I took it in for first oil change and told them to turn OFF the seat belt chime. They said ok. Done. I’ll hold my nose and get one of these new ones eventually and do the same. The dealer can turn off any of these useless things you don’t want.
I know this is an older video, but I just purchased this for a 2024 Tundra Limited. However, I got Carista prior to the Tundra and connected to my Audit Q7. When I got the Tundra two weeks ago, the app won't let me connect to a second vehicle event though the Carita website said my subscription could be used for multiple vehicles. Anyone know how to use this two vehicles? Thanks.
Do you have to keep this thing plugged in for it to work? thinking of just buying it to turn off the seat belt chime and augmented engine noise. Dont really care about other features.
Hey @TRDJon I bought the Carista BT25 and got it set up. I do not have the engine and chassis section on mine that yours has. I wanted to shut off fake engine noise. Is yours the BT25?
1:59 Weird… I picked this up for multiple reasons but I also wanna hear those turbskies better if it was possible but my 2024 tundra limited hybrid doesn’t have a chassis and engine option. You think that means I don’t have a fake v8 noise ??
Maybe a stupid question, and I see others have asked about the subscription but just to be clear; if you pay to make the changes then cancel the subscription, do the settings stay the same after the subscription expires or does it go back to factory settings? I would assume they stay the same but then I don't know why an app would have you pay for a subscription for settings you'll probably only change once. You know what also irritates me that I wish I could change? The button for the rear window, when you push up on it, it goes down, when you pull down on it, it goes up. Seems counter intuitive to me but maybe I'm the only one 😂. I also hated on my Tacoma the button on the steering wheel for the Volume was 'left' and 'right' and not up and down, and to advance or back up the song was up and down, also seemed counter intuitive. I wish I could go in there and reprogram those buttons.
The changes stay. What I did was change what I want during the free trial period, and then cancelled before it charged the 10 bucks. No money paid, I made my changes with ease.
So you instal into the port and the settings remain even after you remove the device or cancel the subscription? And then if you want to update anything else through the app you have to renew you subscription?
