2300 hours on dbd and still listening otz's tutorial videos like when i started playing the game, amazing :)
1k hours, and I still play like i just installed lol
@@DaTanMan01 I thought I was the only one lol As long as we are having fun right? :)
haha same
Same but 520 hours
3700+ hours but still came here for reassurance (not the perk - no pun intended ) and the fun perks that Didn't CONtain DECEPTION somehowww... (=
hello otz this is friends
Until it's a full moon
Content creators arent your actual friends. Youre just a $ sign to them.
@@nolives not for Otz. Alex is a truly a kind and sweet person, he doesn't see us as a $$$. No way you are one of the people who watch and follow him
Even if Twitch and UA-cam is a job for him, it doesn't mean that he is doing it only because of money.
We can't say that we are truly friends, but we are the community. Otzdarva has influence on us, and it's a good one. Majority of his subscribers/followers are kind and good people too.
Grow up from "it's only about money", my guy. Alex doing it for entertainment and fun. He is enjoying what he is doing, as well as we all are.
@@nolives cool information, but did you know that venus is the only planet to spin clockwise
@@SilentHana I actually didn't, thank you!
Console players, remember that Feng and Ace come with the base game on console. Also, Hag and Doctor.
Well on mobile we dont have to pay for the game but we only get 2 killers (trapper & hillbilly) and 3-4 survivors
@@assburner1687 why would they give hillbilly but not wraith?
@@NirYuZy Idk honestly since hillbilly is insanely hard on mobile controls
On the switch you also get Adam and Kate. Also Clown and Spirit.
@@RvBnerd618 Nice.
Otz: Ace is a pretty stealthy character
Ace in my team: Pink sunglasses, w/e body wear to make him shine, hilarious shoes
😂😂😂
Literally me XD
He was the first character I unlocked bc I liked his casino running idgaf aura
Otz: Don't go for steve or nancy unless you have alot of teachables and you really like them.
Me (A certified steve main): *YESNT*
Ah yes, a fellow scoops enthusiast
I blasted the last of my time and bloodpoints at Steve to get him P3 just before the progression change because getting that red background on an exclusive character achieved neuron activation.
How would a beginner even get Steve and Nancy? They're unavailable now unless you want to spend like $60 on the dwindling supply of ST keys lol
@x AV x I sadly didn't get any of the costumes but I still main him cause ST + DBD bundle is what i got lol
basically me with ash
I started playing as Dwight, partly because he reminded me of a character in CoD Zombies, but his perks made me feel like i was contributing to the team by following someone else around and repairing generators with them. By staying close to other players, i got an idea of when to run, where to run, and the logic of generator spawns. That all being said, for long term learning the game, accepting fully that your first games are going to make the survivor team a 3.5v1, this ordering in the video is very much good advice
If Dwight had slightly longer hair he would look a lot like Marlton I agree.
Edit: and a beard.
Marlton is exactly how I imaged Dwight would sound when I first saw him, his screams make it very apparent that he doesn't sound like a nerd though.
Marlton is also the reason I love dwight
I can't believe other people also thought this. I think of him as Marlton as well but also robin since those two have the same va
Fellow marlton enjoyer
Another reason for going Dwight early is Bond. Bond is an amazing solo queue perk.
Bond with Open Handed is such a good combo
Actually Leader is good too
I use bond so much that I basically have it built in and only have three perk slots xD
@@a_goat_named_olivia8856 me too i literally can't play without it
@@baygull9: Same. I only play Feng Min, but I use Bond in every loadout.
Bill is my first main and forever since.. he's been my favorite survivor and SO beginner friendly imo respectful, but yes, Feng is a good choice along with Meg
God bless your and your teammates' ears when you're injured
@@Ahmad_Jihad Meh... you'll get use to it... eventually 🙃
Bill gang rise, the old war vet will always have tricks to save himself and his team
Meg was the only survivor I played until the RE chapter came out. Then I switched over to Leon.
When I was new to the game Bills were so reliable. My friend and I were so excited to see a Bill in the lobby and especially I’m coming for the save
Don't forget the most important scale of judging a survivor. If they are cute or not, and according to the last time Otz did this style of video your only pick is Cheryl which I have to agree. :)
I picked dwight based on that funnily enough 🤣🤣🤣
Me picking Jeff and Bill:
Dwight is cutest survivor. Though, Mikaela has a cute hat.
Seeing Breakable Walls with Windows I would argue is still useful, as you’ll be able to see if certain loops like Saloon’s main building, still have the walls
And it helps with finding gens on the game
And you can mistake it for a pallet then die
@@peepoNuggie Only if you're a noob
@@yasmingirl17 I disagree. It helps learn newer maps like Garden of Joy and the 3 RPD maps.
@@killerchristian567 what do you disagree with? I agree with you, I love windows. Someone deleted a comment where they said that windows makes you mistake breakable walls for pallets, and then I said ‘only if you’re a noob’
Also, another tip, David grunts a lot more when being carried which could possibly mess with the killers counting. I know that when i first started playing killer david was a pain in the ass because i was counting the grunts. So definitely another thing to consider.
First time ever I read this information. A huge respect for noticing such detail and taking advantage of it
whats the general rule for counting grunts when it comes to carrying survs?
@@leyuwondafrash8816 9 grunts = they'll be getting out on the next grunt usually.
I never even heard of people counting the grunts, but damn, that’s smart.
I also use grunts to time my hooking lol
I think distortion is a really good mention, not only does it hide its user but doubles down as an espionage perk that lets you figure out the killers build/perks, making it extremely strong for a swf if they can figure out half the killers build within the first few minutes of the game.
Hard agree
I already have all survivors but I am still watching this entire video😂😂
Not gonna lie, I love these otz videos. The twitch clips are great, but this is definitely what I like watching the most
Can we all just appreciate that this guy does not only play the game and entertain people with videos but he also helps people play the game and encourages people to have more fun with the game.
i can’t even begin to explain how helpful this video was! i’ve been playing + researching for months and honestly never gave a thought to how the exhaustion perks would overlap. very informative especially for a newer player! thank you!
I’ve been searching for a good and educational video explaining survivors and perks in a way beginners and understand and choose properly which characters to invest our time into and this is THE BEST video I’ve been BY FAR!!!! You did an amazing job, congratulations. I’m became a fan right away!
Bite The Bullet and Flash Bang are absolutely amazing perks and the pair with basically everything not only other teachables
Thanks, Otz! I started playing DBD two months ago, so I used your guide from last year as a starting point for figuring out who to level first. Now I’m trying to save up to get Zarina. She’s just a really cool character, plus Off The Record will help survive the match longer.
Empathy and bond are honestly pretty dope as info perks.
Nothing like wondering if it's safe while you work on something and someone lights up across the map.
6:29 HEAN ON LMAO.
Good video Otz I love your content, this gave me a pretty solid idea for a build! ❤️
Even if you're not Otz, I'm still thankful for everything you taught me about this game. Ya know what? I think if you keep on this path you'll become Otz one day.
I started with Feng when i was new in dbd. And i can say that ALERT is one of the greatest beginner perks in the entire game, it helped me so much back then
thanks for the video! I basically became a survivor main because of killer Q times and I've been making my ways through survivors starting with Zarina to Kate and I'm about to finish Meg. I did already have Feng and Dwight's teachables, big fan of Lithe, and had a few perks from the shrine like BT and DS. but this gives a good road map for going forward. lol I was going to go Ace next because I use Kindred a lot in solo and I heard open handed was good with it.
Been having a good time and watching the Hardcore survivor challenge videos are very good for learning survivor tactics as well.
I know you probably won't see this, but thank you so much for the examples at 12:27, Otz. I play solo, and that Solo queue example has been helping me escape more matches now that I'm trying it out.
Meg is one of the best for starting out but in the long run i think Elodie is a serious contender. Deception is currently one of the best perks in the game for survivors. Appraisal makes items quite easy to get all throughout the match. Power Struggle is the only niche perk but when it does work it is often life saving.
You missed the most important section, Survivors by Simping potential
All in all, this is the single most informative, helpful and comprehensible video I have seen on DbD. Thank you.
I always get this vibe from Otz that I'm watching a genius/prodigy. I don't know if it's his mannerisms or the way he speaks, but he always sounds extremely smart.
If you are watching this video and you get to the part where it says, Nancy and Steve are not playable characters, the game updated, and now they are but their perks are still basic perks hope that helps in a way
i love that you're updating these. i remember pulling out my credit card and getting good old booba, plague and hag because i watched these vids years ago!!
Haven't played in a year and this helped me relearn Meta and what I should run in games now!
Thank Otz
Another tip for Anniversary Events: All Survivors and Killers that are Original and are before the latest Chapter will be available for Half their Original Price. This means you can buy two survivors, two killers, or a survivor and a killer for the price of one. Additionally, Shrine of Secrets will also rotate in perks, and cost 2000 normally, so if you don't want the survivor / killer but want the perk, you can buy it from there.
What an amazing video! So helpful, so much information! Every time I went to click off this video, you hooked me with more information. Awesome job! Your effort is greatly appreciated!
2000 hrs on dbd, back in my days we didn't have this spreadsheet which seems very helpful but dang this feels so nostalgic
Jeff is underrated with all these new killer aura reading perks. His perk gives you so much info and it saves you in a game where stealth is dying
Seeing the old survivor portraits is… so nostalgic
It's always nice to see these guides even though I am not a new player!
Though when I went on a new account out of curiosity I went with dwight first since all his perks felt amazing for info and lovely coop points. Those extra points feel so much helpful just getting those extra blood webs early on 😔
I feel like stealth is more important this patch more than ever. Especially with the nerf to Iron Will.
It's not, because all the slowndown makes it impossible to push through 5 gens if you are not efficient, so being sneaky and wasting time is still a very bad idea
I think there's a distinction between being stealthy and sneaky that's overlooked here. Wearing colorful cosmetics, playing Bill or Ash, is easily avoidable. Sneaky is not an optimal strategy unless you're in the right circumstances to waste more of the killers time than a chase would. Especially if you're already 2 hooked.
Hi Otz, lovely video thank you for the helpful tips. Loved watching you in the HardCore videos with Dowsey, JRM, and Ayrun. I think you’ve got the Inner Strength symbol instead of For the People in your edit of Zarina’s perks, just FYI
Ace used to have a disproportionately quiet grunt which is why he was ran so often. He literally had built in tier 2 iron will. Running iron will on him at any tier made him virtually silent, then they reworked his grunt to be on par with the others and now he fits into the first category of big and loud.
I noticed that too 😢
If you're new to the game and you're lucky enough to have a friend or two to play it with, I wholeheartedly recommend Distortion from Jeff. Starting with 3 tokens, when your aura is revealed by the killer, you'll instead consume a token and have your aura hidden for 10 seconds, with the little bonus of not leaving 'scratch marks'. In a group, this is an amazing perk to scout out whatever aura reading perks or add-on's the killer has, whilst keeping you hidden and safe. Using this will naturally help you learn key moments throughout a match when your aura is seen by the killer, such as when a teammate is hooked, or a generator is completed, which is incredibly important for survival.
And as you get more experienced, you'll naturally start to learn killer perks and builds, and start calling out or de-confirming very strong killer perks such as Lethal Pursuer, or Scourge Hook: Floods of Rage. Warning your teammates will keep them on their toes and less likely to be ambushed, whilst you can stay out of sight entirely and work on generators, or help your hooked teammates etc.
Tysm Otz!- I’ve been thinking of taking a break from Identity V and trying out DBD. This video was so helpful!!❤️
The FF music in the background is way too good. Very good video, thank you otz
I scrolled so far to see if anyone else noticed!
I think Distortion deserves an honorable mention! Especially if you're playing with a friend. You can call out that the killer scanned you just now, and it can provide you with unexpected advantages, like going for the rescue after barbecue hits your team way more safely than anyone else!
True but aura perks are sadly not very popular, when I equip distortion it mostly doesn't activate.
Aftercare however is hugely underrated, it's a mian perk for my builds because it tells me tons of information: who's being chased, who's going for the unhook, what gens are being repaired and which gate is getting opened.
Yes it takes time to get all 3 survivors' aura and resets after getting hooked but the value is still very good, even seeing 2 of the survivors most of the match can tell you a lot not mentioning how it benefits other survivors seeing you.
I think it's one of the best solo queue perks in the game.
@@Ahmad_Jihad agreed. My experience with distortion also varies drastically. It's either quiet all game or is spent in 30 seconds by a blight who runs info perks + info addons :/
When it does work, however, it's pretty useful!
Oh and 100% agree about aftercare. I run kindred bc i play careless and get hooked too often, but there were times when i used aftercare and it literally saved my life. Just wish it was more permanent and didn't reset after being hooked, like rookie spirit. It sounds strong, but tbh solo queue is bad enough as it is....
@@keksuntee True, distortion didn't deserve to be 3 tokens even with the recharge and aftercare doesn't deserve to be reset after a hook when its hard to get it on every survivor
Really appreciate the FFXII background music! It was one of my favorite games as a kid and still is today.
Just started the game (this time probably seriously) and wondered if this tutorial (Thank you, Otz
I already own every survivor but something about otz makes me watch every video despite my knowledge
Blastmine is also gucci for slow down and pinging gens for your team! That pairs well with Prove thyself
Quintins recovery perk is really nice too if you have some extra pocket change. It goes really well with exhaustion perks.
2k hours and i still love to watch otz's videos like this. i love to learn so much about this game. thank you Otzdarva 😊
Loved the background music in this, no joke 😂 Excellent video btw, thanks, not Otz!
I’ll be watching videos like these for Otz even that I have every perk unlocked to just hear him explain with his voice, I think I have a man crush.
Thank you for this video. Super well informed and a great watch.
Top-shelf quality as always Otz!
Hi Otz! Really love your content! I was wondering if you could possibly please make a video on perks that aren't meta and could even be considered borderline bad or are very gimmicky or niche... I've been recently trying Red Herring which is sadly extremely underwhelming but as a concept looks incredibly interesting! If there is anyone who can make bad perks work it is you!
Best beginner build. In terms of average match success would be Sprint Burst (Meg Thomas), Windows of Opportunity (Kate Densen), Technician (Feng Ming).
In that order
You don't even need to worry about another 4th shareable perk slot initially.
Just level Meg first: Learn how to navigate a chase and avoid the killer with the speed advantage.
Then Kate Densen: Learn window and pallet placement to improve your looping. Then when you have the hang of that.
Use Feng so you can start working gens successfully. Especially if you haven't quite the hang of the skill check mechanic. And now you have the hang of looping and window pallet placement. That's when to learn Lithe.
After that I would use Bond. A useful perk for seeing your teammates. Get healed. Find a generator to help repair. See where a nearby chase is going down. To follow to know where the exit gates are.
Or Deja Vu, so you can practice more Gen Repair. Chances are you're not that not that good at looping the killer yet. And you want to be a productive teammate. Deja Vu and Technician are great perks for helping the team while better survivors distract the killer.
It’s very useful, now I can just send this video to my friends to show them what’s good :)
I’m started to watched u a month ago and u are really helpful thanks 🙏 keep making good content like always
My favorite build right now is,
Kindred
Open-Handed
Prove Thyself
Aftercare
loads of information along with some speed on generators.
Thanks for making this videos it really helped me out the perk thingies
Quick and Quiet from Meg is also pretty good and gets you used to monitoring your vault/locker speed. I'm pretty sure you're ignoring it to try and avoid the do-nothing locker-campers but it can be good for some early escapes, especially with Lightweight/Dance with Me/Lithe/Lucky Break...
love the final fantasy 12 music as atmosphere in the beginning
If you are a complete beginner/have no idea what you're doing, I highly recommend Breakdown from Jeff. That way when you get unhooked, the hook is broken for up to three minutes & you can help your teammates get some safety when they unhook you. Empathy from Claudette is also great as it allows you to see when your teammates are injured so you can guess where the killer is. It also gives a nice boost to healing. I run these two almost every single time I play. You don't have to be good at looping if you can play smart.
It was really quiet at first, but I finally noticed the FFXII background music, good taste.
Nea and Feng,Meg have some very loud grounts of pain. And Otz you forgot Dectective Tapp.He has some very quiet grounts of pain.
I’ve been playing for a while but these tutorials are still as entertaining as when I first started
Love the Final Fantasy music in the background
God bless you Otz! Me and my son always watch your videos togheter.
as always thanks Otz for the survivor update
No idea if this would be possible as a perk but let me know if you guys like the idea: if there was a character who was an actor that gets added it could be really hilarious to have a perk that lets you change cosmetics in lockers. No clue what that would require on a server side so it's probably not happening anytime soon but it sounds fun
Cue the random spamming the locker to get their favorite skin
I’m doing a very unique route, based on what characters and perks I personally like. Started with Bill for his perks, then prestiged Leon because he’s my favorite character and I plan on using him as my survivor once I have all the perks I need unlocked, not so much for his perks specifically. Currently working on David, and then doing Feng or Dwight
i love the FF12 music in the background. now i wanna play it again
Your video production quality is A1 tier. Thank you for this video
Decent idea for Exhaustion Perks to run. Lithe is a good option for all stages of the game and couple that maybe with a Adrenaline for a bit of extra speed at end game. Has saved me more times than I can count..
Soul guard might be a protection perk, although much harder to use than the others, and being situational
The first ever survivor I got was Yui, because I bought the entire DLC just for Oni and at the time I only played killer.
When I started playing survivor I only ever played Yui, and man that wasn't really a good choice lol
Great Video!
I kinda agree with your recommendation of avoiding Ace, but Open Handed is such a good extender perk for Bond, Kindred and Dark Sense. I think people should still go for his teachables, but early on Dwight, Bill and Feng are better survivors to get the perks first
I get the need for an update and all, but I'm gonna miss Cheryl being the top of the cuteness ranking.
HOW DARE YOU
Jeryl is no longer available sadly.
@@SelectDevotee68 she is
Love the choice of music. FF12 has a phenomenal classically inspired soundtrack.
After 2000+ hours I still watch the full length of these videos
People always underestimate how stealthy Felix is. Yes, he is quite big and his outfits aren't all that subtle, but if you buy the dark green suit or wear one of the darker suits, the killer will walk past you way more often than you expect, and he also blends in with the bushes perfectly.
There’s no cross progression so all my killers and cosmetics and stranger things dlc is not available on my PC. It’s really sad that I’m starting from scratch, but you’re helping me.
As a main Mikaela, im glad she got mentioned as one of the survivors that has a strong utility perk :'D
P.D: can we notice that Jeff and Quentin don't got mentioned on almost nothing? 😂
Love u Otz 🖤💜 although i only have like 1k hours or so i found so useful every single one of your videos 🖤💜
@Haukkkks is there a problem?
i am convinced that otz is the sole reason the dbd community exists as it does now. it ain't an easy game to get into and he's the only reason i still play it
14:48 I'm surprised you listed Meg and especially Feng as stealthy survivors. These two are so loud!
I love the music in the background. It makes the video very cute😇
Thank you otz for another amazing video ❤️❤️
Otz quick question, what would you say would be the most efficient way to gather bloodpoints? Or is there a “best way” other then just BP perks and offerings
I have a more stealth kind of gameplay not being a very good looping player and some of the most important perks i would recommend for stay away from the killers sights that can help are urban evasion for nea, alert from feng and now after the update distortion from jeff. Urban evasion does miracles to save you hiding behind stones and stuff from the map and fooling killers when they check if you are in the area its really funny how you can virtually be more faster crouching then walking using this. The last slot can be really filled with whatever you prefer a healing perk like circle of healing or any another utility
Claudette with the Left 4 Dead dark shirt and the short pants I think is the best stealth combo.
thank you, Otz. i have had 9k many times and havent known who to buy. Im survivor main
Great video Otz!
I am wondering how long does Otz need every time for a new opening for his video? The amount of words are limited Otz! One day you will reach your limits!!! muahahaha
As someone who is still currently a beginner in DBD, play Dwight. Bond Perk helps a lot to figure out rotation, gens being fixed, and to realize when chases are happening.
Feng Min if you have the extra cash. Her Technician perk let's you miss skill checks and not make a sound at the cost of higher reduction on the gen's progress. She also has Lithe that gives you a speed boost after vaulting. Vaulting when being chased is your best friend.
There's always a ping sound effect before a skill check shows up. Only realized this after about 15 games. Mainly because I played with friends and I mostly focused on comms.
"Hean On" is definitely my favorite perk!
I recommend making an updated video with the new survivors and new killers for perks to unlock now that it's April 2023.
Just started playing Dbd after watching Otz for years.
I have considered your opinions and discussion deeply and have come to the decision to main Ashley J. Williams.
Groovy.
😂🐐
I’ve been playing for about a month maybe a bit more, but I started with bill then went to Meg and now I’m doing David cause I really want dead hard lol
