imagine being the driver who had to drive the train to the depo when there may be a bomb onboard.
Wonder if the scatterbrain who left their rucksack ever got it back. I know how embarrassed they would end up being for causing a scare like that
The old Undercity game is kinda like that.
"Don't slow down under 40 or it's gonna explode"
Reminds me when the HazMat team was called to 1 of my country's subway/metro stations a few years ago after some runners left some flour behind on the floor there to mark the route for other runners behind them to follow, and the flour was mistaken as a suspicious substance e.g. anthrax
I hope the total twitbrain plonker who left the rucksack got a great big fine and a life ban from all public transport. There are always announcements going off about not leaving luggage unattended at train stations and/or airports, whereever you travel in Britain. Also, you should be able to tell whether you missed your rucksack or not, surely? Its big enough not to lose it on a train.
You misspelt depot
I left my swimming gear on a train once. I'd feel really bad if it caused all this trouble, but at the same time; the idea of bomb disposal coming out and finding a damp pair of trunks, a half eaten sandwich and a towel makes me chuckle.
Once left my bootbag on a bus on the way to school. The bus stop was where the bus terminates so I ran from school to see if the driver was still there. On the pavement was my emptied out bootbag with my pe kit on the floor. Whether or not it was a kid thinking they'd got lucky or a driver checking the bag wasn't a bomb I'll never know.
I had to go to the lost property office in central london once after leaving my empty backpack on the tube, i'd been heading out shopping at the time
A friend’s friend works for my local metro and they were doing work on the rails but they used a black bag instead of a bag with the logo on. They shut the station for a few hours and it was disposed of.
21:20 - “I’ll give ‘em fu**in’ health and safety!” LOL
This has actually opened my eyes to this sort of threat, I had no idea it was such a thing before the 2005 bombings. Ever since that day I've been shit scared of London, and take note of all the 'unattended item' warnings.
Honestly didn't realise it was just a big a thing before then 👀👀
There was 12 bombings on the London underground before 2005, they are going to be prepared for it.
You must be very young. The IRA bombed us on a regular basis from the 70s to the 90s. Sometimes they would do a train station to cause maximum havoc. They used to hide the bombs in bins, hence all train stations having the clear plastic bag bins to this day
3 years before 7/7 Rest easy those who perished in the bombings
Tenac 300 excuse me??(?
that was in 2004, the description just describes the show

I love the work up at Gloucester Road, I'm glad that all these years later the art projects are still going :)
great series, been binge-watching all week!!!
Me as well! lol August 2020
What amazes me (not sure if its still the same) is that the staff have to step over the live rails with basically no protection. It's amazing that the tube staff didn't suffer lots of casualties from touching the live rail, because to be expected to step over it on ballast that moves underfoot seems really dangerous to me.
It’s something they may need to do in an emergency situation so it’s useful to have that training.
As well as that ballast doesn't slip as much as they've made it out (speaking from a sequence)
I’ve never been on the tube, I’ve never been to London, I’ve never been outside of the US but you can bet your ass I’m plowing through these episodes.
District line is worth a go. Most of it is outside in the open.
We had a suitcase left unattended in the station, and ticking noise coming from it. Station evacuated rather quickly
Turns out someone was taking their clock with them wherever they were going 😒
Reminds me of the kid in the Us. Made a clock at home, took it to school. It was inside a briefcase, and he plugged the fucking thing into a WALL OUTLET and it started ticking. So he got expelled...
I never watched this at the time but it's great to see now, also to see the difference to now.
I hope you guys also have the specials, you missed one between series 1 & 2 :(
Thanks for posting this vid!!!
Some 45 years ago I forgot a plastic bag containing a camera and a pair of shoes at an underground station. I was a tourist travelling with two friends but I had been to London so many times and stayed there with friends that I knew the centre and some outskirts like the back of my hand. Anyway, when I discovered the mishap I got off at the next station with my two friends and travelled back to the station where my bag was. When we arrived at the station we were ushered outof the otherwise empty station because there was a bomb scare ........ I was able to defuse the situation by explaining to the staff it was only a camera and a pair of shoes. People weren't too happy with me and I had to undergo a severe talking to.😥
i wasnt even born when this was filmed lmao
Same haha
Millenniuals 😂
Same lol
Wow you’re a baby lol!
Neither was my daughter I was pregnant with her. Remember watching the show on itv whilst feeding her feel old now 😂
Absolutely love this
A bag with a sandwich causes the whole network to evacuate and waste millions of pounds from the TfL. No wonder Crossrail is so late.
You can't just leave a unattended bag you never know what is in it
20:27 Lmao XD
8:23 that wouldn’t be allowed these days 😅
Facinating insight into all the things us passengers never see or even think about most of the time
Fascinating*
Lucky they have people who know what to do in an emergency of railways and bomb threats and how to evacuate people and engineer a new track takes a long time.
Sadly his fears came true
I 😍 this show.
I just noticed this is from 2002! lol
No wonder it all looks different lol
This episode is from 2004 though, they reference the 2004 Madrid bombings being two weeks prior
Looks like a completely different city than what it is now
8.23 he knows what’s up😂😂
Yes finaly!
14:22 do they not use grounds there? here; if you were doing major service on the track, you'd have to confirm that a ground/lockout had been applied before continuing.
wouldnt the bag if it was an explosive be booby trapped; triggered by moving or opening the bag?
no it might have just failed to function hense why they X-Ray it first to try and work out how its made up
Amongst other pints, runs the risk of the person who placed it triggering it themselves, I would think...
9/11...7/7.....
has left us as a nation extremely paranoid. Everybody has developed extra pair of eyes" EAGLE EYES" 🦅👀👀👀👀👀
Redlioness 2019 this is Britain
Unfortunately it’s not paranoia, the threat is real. I work in London and use the Tube. I was there on 7/7 and it was just horrendous. You are right, people need to be vigilant.
@@missdoglover1644 911 and 7/7 was an inside job.
Surely a good thing? Bet your the sort of person who is paranoid and opinionated by cctv too. If we didn't have religious inspired brainwashed nutters trying to kill innocent people then maybe people wouldn't be eagle eyed as much.
@@Gencturk92 if I could like AND dislike your comment I would
I live behind Paddington station 💙
The problem is there are so many
Abandoned Underground Stations and they not covered by transport police because the government don't bother or think about the risk too people . And any terrorist could use them .
Seems rather complicated with replacement buses. I always admire how Hungary or let's say Budapest does it, if a Metro is out (currently they are renewing some of the stations of line 3 there at nighttime and on weekends), they have a whole fleet of replacement buses at hand, who are smoothly covering for the Metro and without having to hire buses from elsewhere.

lol i was at arch when this happened IMAO
A few years ago, I was at Grand Central in New York City when the NYPD discovered an unattended bag in the subway station (or perhaps someone had called it in). They closed the area off and called in a bomb sniffing dog. Thankfully, it was just a false alarm but it goes to show that we can't be too careful in the time of terrorism.
If roadworks did prevent bus getting to/ from Heathrow Airport, why not get the Heathrow Express or Heathrow Connect to/ from Paddington or Ealing Broadway
They got the whole Met to come to Cockfosters to inspect a bag with food or something when something else big like a football match fight with over THOUSANDS of people, but noooo they have to inspect a bag with a toy car or sumting
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !"

Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!"
Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..."
Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!"
Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky."
Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction."

So OK: how do we know for certain this was an exercise ?
In such incident security officers should be equipped with explosive detectors. Time to call over rescue or bomb disposal unit may cause a great harm...
Had no one heard of the Heathrow express or tfl line that’s both go from Heathrow to Paddington 🤦🏻♂️
Heathrow Connect wasn't built until 2005 and Heathrow Express would have been busy anyway. Heathrow Express is also very expensive.
I know you should take threats serious, but if someone threatens to put a bomb somewhere...would he spend so much time on placing one, and warning you after?
Wouldn't it be easier to expect that the people with actual bombs are not going to tell you where they placed them? Or am I being silly?
The IRA during their bombing campaigns in both Northern Ireland and England were known to send warnings or coded warnings before the bombs exploded. For example, the 1996 Manchester truck bomb, 1,500kg in weight, was the subject of five warning telephone calls to television and radio studios, a newspaper, and a hospital.
As a result, the bomb caused an estimated £700m of damage and led to the £1.6bn redevelopment of Manchester city centre. 212 people were injured but nobody was killed.
Some bombers wish to use bombs to make a statement or to cause economic damage. Not every bomber intends on killing people.
AS a motorman during the IRA problem i removed many unclaimed bags from my train Whats the problem ////
Patrick Thomas once I removed a bra and a thongs from a train nothing compared to ur shit
