Top 5 Screen Protectors for the iPhone SE (2020)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 тра 2024
- What’s going to be the best screen protector for the iPhone 11 (and most likely the iPhone 12 as well)? I spent $300 dollars on screen protectors to find out which was best in terms of:
1. Installation
2. Fit/Coverage
3. Impact Protection
4. Scratch Resistance
I also figured out the replacement warranties for each product (that was terrible to do).
In this video, we test products from Zagg, Spigen, Otterbox, Whitestone, Belkin, Tech Armor, FLOLAB and JETech and these products are the Top 3. Here’s my Top 3 (I’ve included affiliate links for the products):
1. FLOLAB NanoArmour (I think my code "MRE10" still works at www.flolab.io)
2. Zagg Glass Elite (mreh.ca/3lRAZW2)
3. Spigen Glas.tR Align Master (mreh.ca/3knntcF)
These three products performed the best in my test period. The Zagg Glass Elite is the most expensive product in my Top 3 but also has a replacement program so depending on how long you use your device, that’s worth checking out. The Spigen product is the cheapest in the group but it also had the worst scratch protection of the three so it’s going to crack quicker.
The FLOLAB NanoArmour is priced better than the Zagg and tougher than the Spigen which is why it takes #1 in my testing.
In this video:

Here’s how the rest of the screen protectors ranked:
4. Otterbox Amplify Glass (mreh.ca/2II9OyM0
5. Otterbox Alpha Glass (mreh.ca/3km8SOg)
6. Whitestone Dome Glass (mreh.ca/3o2lQmN)
7. Belkin Invisible Glass Ultra (mreh.ca/34766Xx)
8. JETech Tempered Glass
9. Tech Armor Ballistic Glass

Install
So before we could do anything to the screen protectors, we had to install them all. The easiest to install was the Zagg product because of their double tabbed system and tray. It’s just easier to make adjustments as you’re laying down glass.
I actually found that having an install tray that fit worked much better than all the fancy trays that Otterbox and Belkin used.
The worst product in terms of install is the Whitestone Domeglass. It requires you to add the adhesive yourself which results in a stronger product but is very involved and smells bad. Honestly, tech accessories should be simple to use.
Fit/Coverage
The first I looked at with these screen protectors is the fit and there’s two sides to fit. First you have the overall coverage of the screen protector. Next is the size of the hole for your home button.
Combining the scores for the size of the cutout and overall coverage, the top three screen protectors ended up being the Spigen Glastr Align, FLOLAB NanorArmor and JeTech and Whitestone tying for 3rd. As a side note, both the Spigen and Flolab products have glass that go around the entire home button.
The smallest screen protector belonged to both the Belkin Invisible Glass Ultra and Tech Armor.
Impact
The Top 3 products when it came to impact are the Zagg Glass Elite, FLOLAB NanoArmor and Whitestone Dome Glass.
The Belkin Invisble Glass Ultra came dead last. It’s suppose to be corning 2 glass. I say suppose to be because another Corning 2 product, the Amplify, performed much better than the Invisible Glass Ultra.
Warranty
Zagg - Pay for shipping
Spigen - Fill out a form and pay shipping cost of broken + 50% off replacement
Otterbox - You have to call them
Whitestone - I know they have a program for it, I tried registering my product for it BUT they rejected my product. I’m guessing it’s because I selected Local Store in the list of retail establishments. Apparently products purchased directly from Whitestone, through their website are a little too shady to be used by Whitestone’s warranty program.

I just can’t get over how well behaved Monty is. Such a classy lad that Montgomery.
Woof! - Monty
2:00
A: "You don't have a tie!"
M: "Neither do you"
LOL.
God dang this is the best screen protector review I've seen seriously hand down great video man keep it up 🔥🔥
Hes brilliant isnt he?
Monty just became my favorite reviewer
It's really unfair how some of the reviewer don't even break a sweat and they have millions of subscribers meanwhile this guy and Monty working so hard I wish him all the best looking forward for that 1 million soon
Thank you!
This dude is just a blessing to us, the consumers. What an absolute lad.
Wow I’m insanely impressed by this style of video. The in depth testing you’ve done, incredible!
Hey mate, I don't normally leave comments but thought I would here because you literally saved me from purchasing the Belkin screen protector! Thankfully my local store also sells the InvisibleShield Ultra so I ended up going with that.
Keep doing what you're doing. God's work honestly. Much love from Australia.
Your reviews are so fun to watch! I recently subscribed to your channel and man did not expect someone who has broken so many things on videos to be wearing the same glasses for years.
Lol. This comment made my day. I'm generally very careful with my things. Except when I'm reveiwing stuff.
@@MobileReviewsEh The Otterbox Amplify is. Glare Guard no? That’s partly why it’s so expensive. No glare & No matte so that u can wear polarized sunglasses while driving & use your phone safely without the glare (GPS)
Can you clarify that & review the anti glare properties. Otterbox claims that u don’t need to increase the brightness on a beach at a park or in car.
Good job with entertainment/information mix, Monty!
i subscribed after watching the camera lens protector and now i'm watching all the videos. THIS is how you youtube. As an addd bonus I love that you don't talk just to hear your own voice like so many reviewers. Love the chapters too. and monty. just perfect. regarding screen protectors, what about the fact that debris can get stuck in the holes, vs a screen protector that is open at the top?
Thank you for all your work and for sharing this information.
Thanks for this review! I got the Flolab and you were spot in, easiest one ever that I gave installed!
Amazing video love all of them and your dog is so adorable keep up the good work and look forward to your next one
Thank you so much!
Your videos are awesome! Thanks for your always-honest and objective reviews!
Glad you like them!
Man's best friend? MONTY!!!!!!!! Such a good dog and obviously great companion! 👍🏾🙌🏾
Great video! I purchased the Flolab with your code. Bought 2, although they have the warrantee, the launched last year so I was concerned the may not have the model if it ever cracks. They have an awesome Black Friday deal now and I was also able to use your code! Love your dog too. Soo adorable. Thanks much
Yes Sir - your code for FloLab still works. Thanks lots! 🌸🌸🌸
Best reviews ever, period. Also, the only youtuber I can trust, since I’m fairly certain he won’t sell himself, like the vast majority.
I don't think I will. There's a higher chance that I"ll stop YouTubing and go back to work in an office than sell out.
Damn this video is so objective and ive never seen anyone mention rma policies before, this is amazing and why havent i seen this channel before
Good to see Monty so dressed up and attentive in this video!
Btw, I’ve had great customer support from Flolab when I have cracked my phone screen protector. I get my non-glass watch protector from Zagg instead as they are local and I can pop in and get another one easy.
That is awesome!
Best reviews on device protection no competition
Great video! You are so bang on with your comments!
:)
i loved that line, "we're reviewers, not influencers" thanks for the awesome video!
Wow love your vids. Thanks for the honest reviews 👍
My pleasure!
Another excellent review 😁👍. I see Val has found a neat trick to mask her face 😆. Monty looks good with or without a tie 🐶
Oh yes!
ordered flolab with your code! Thank you sir!!!!
I’ve had a Whitestone Dome on my current and previous phones and I love them. The feel is great, the installation is more difficult than your average protector but not impossible to follow and the last one lasted almost 1.5 years without a scratch or crack. I love the Dome. My all time favorite was the Cinder though they don’t make them anymore.
Wow. No scratches. You're more careful with your device than I am.
@@MobileReviewsEh I have to admit that I am protective of my phone. I keep it in a case but it’s usually in my pocket when I’m out of the house. Speaking of cases are you going to review the Rebel line of cases?
That tie really does fit Monty 👌
Great video, what was your experience with flolab replacement ?
Awesome video man! Which of the flolab models would you personally suggest? The clear all around? The clear and black edges? And last, what cutout for the top? Thank you!
amazing and helpfull video! i love tat you dony unbox but use and tell
Unbox videos generally annoy me. Which is why I don't do them.
Thank you for this review!
If you had to choose the Insignia one or the FLO lab one, which would you recomend? Love the dedication in this video..from the dog.
Love your videos keep up the good work
Thanks, will do!
Man I loved this review! I totally had no idea that they varied so much, I’ve always just bought one and slapped it on. Any chance of a iphone 12 pro Max available right after they arrive next week? I’m finally looking at upgrading my iPhone 7 Plus but I’ve always used protectors on the screen and now I’m more concerned about then before.
Love your videos. Thank you for not having sponsored ads. I find it odd that I am paying for YT Red for ad-free videos but most have sponsored ads. I think YT is misleading YT Red customers.
I think it's only going to get worse before it gets better. I'm betting on the long term value of an unsponsored channel over channels looking to make a quick buck.
Flolab at number 1, I’m not even surprised tbh! I’ve been using them since I found your channel last year, and I love mine. They have a crazy good warranty program. Broke mine one time and got a replacement for about 5 US bones shipping. The process was easy. The only thing is they ship from China so the wait is about 10 days in my experience 😬
Glad you like them!
the 0-60 thing got me on a relatable level
i used to drive a 1.6 mazda 3
Zoom Zoom Zoom!
Hey Aaron, could you review the Saddleback Leather iPhone case sometime?
It’s pretty different from other leather cases out there as it’s only made out of leather and no other material.
Love the reviews/comparisons, keep it up!
Maybe.
Still using 25 cent plastic screen protectors. Been happy with those over the past 10 years.
I would like to see how each actually applied to the phone and which left bubbles, halos, etc. I researched all of these and people said they were all impossible to apply correctly.
You are doing a great work
I’ve always used Zagg. No issues.
This guy should have millions of subs
Someday.
Quick PSA about the FLOLAB NanoArmour that wasn't mentioned in the review: it has the black border/bezel painted on the glass. I'm not sure how often this happens, but unfortunately for myself and a few other reviews I read on the site, the screen protector borders can cover up part of the visible area of the screen. It's only about 1mm on each side, but it's enough to be annoying, especially for the price. I'm going to reach out to their customer service to see if I can get a replacement or if this is just how it's supposed to be. Either way, a very odd choice by them. You'd think it would be less expensive to just make the whole thing clear?
you should do a series on instore screen protectors if you have not yet pls
I love your vids and Monty
:)
Big fan of your videos. RIP, Bertha, but can you run your updated force meter test with hybrid glass screen protectors? I’m curious how those will fare compared to all glass.
I will for the iPhone 12 season.
Great job on the review...
Thanks!
Flo Lab warranty was super easy. Emailed them on a Sunday, quick response. Sent me a code to order another one.
Have you tested Maxboost screen protectors? Worked well on my Xs- saved the screen twice. Repurchased for iPhone 12.
Bought a new iPhone and while I’m waiting for it to get here I was looking for a new screen protector. I have watched multiple of your videos about multiple products, and usually like your information. This video has really made me question your info though. For instance, I have used TechArmor screen protectors for quite a bit. I clearly was surprised to see it perform so poorly in the testing stages, but I notice you didn’t say much about how easy they were to install. That was not as nearly questionable as when you went on and on about warrantee replacements and didn’t mention them once!!??!! What gives there? I have used their replacement system for years and cannot tell you how much I appreciate a company that simply replaced every single one I’ve ever broke on all the phones in my house without any issue at all!!! On my most recent phone I had a string of bad luck drops and after the 3rd time getting a replacement in a semi short time they asked that I pay $4 shipping. That sounds much better than the shipping you quoted from another company!!! Sorry, but these types of oversight are making me question the validity of your feelings for one company over another and have earned a 21st thumbs down. Please keep making the videos, you do a great job of showing factual tests, I will just have to negate your personal feelings when you give them, for now...
Can confirm with TechArmor that they'll replace broken screen protectors for a couple bucks worth of shipping. It's also an online form so you don't need to interact with someone.
With Zagg, I registered online, and was able to replace my $50 screen protector for the cost of shipping ($6) each time. One time period it was three times in one month, but they never judged me.
could u possibly try the dbrand screen protector in future videos?
Flolab has the best warranty 💯💯
Hey Aaron, tell us about the Phone Rebel case
I knew that was coming
Why won’t he? He just reply’s no to everybody lol.
It bothers me.
@@MobileReviewsEh can't wait for the Monty turd award
which one would you recommend for the apple iphone 12 pro? and have you tested the one you recommended
Out of the glass screen protectors that you have purchased as a reviewer which would you recommend for the iPhone 12
Wouldn’t you want your glass to crack? I mean the whole point is for the glass to spread the force on itself and not to the phone... if it doesn’t crack it means it’s transmitting the force to the actual screen... can you do testing?
What’s your opinion on matte screen protectors? Idk if to get a regular or matte screen protector from Flolab.
I keep my iPhone In and otter box case all the time myself I didn’t buy it for looks more for functionality instead and boy how that case with a built in screen protector really saved my phone 😁
Cool.
Got the the Shellrus for months now no scratches so far unreal protection
Crazy right?
6:03 looks like you pressed Bertha 2.0 on an air bubble. Would that cause the Belkin protector to appear so weak?
Great video. I agree with how companies have bailed on customer service and think automated answers are all they need. Honestly I do not recall any issue I have had being resolved by an automated system.
I don’t agree that screen protector should be considered as a consumable item and I have watched over the years as these companies had screen protectors I could not scratch or crack and in the last 3 to 5 years they have built in obsolescence so they can make them a consumable. We should not accept that and stop purchasing sub par products over the best of the worst. Just my 2 cents.
Best screen protector review ever!!! Can you suggest me transparent yet powerful case of my iPhone SE 2020 white?
I'm not sure what a powerful case is.
@@MobileReviewsEh I mean which provides good protection.
i got an amfilm for my switch and it’s kept the thing fingerprint free, so now i only buy them. they’re great
A film that keeps fingerprints away? Interesting.
Monty is the only reason I watched. 👍👍👍
Good video 👍🏼
Thanks 👍
I know I’m late but I’m just wondering for the spigen did you get the One that’s transparent one or the black one that’s not transparent?
I’ve been loyally using ESR screen protectors. You are right they are consumables (my girlfriend is not kind to her phone) and price and reliability should meet at a reasonable level. They also have good replacement service (through Amazon) send it back and they replace it.
Cool. I've gone through several ESR screen protectors and found that the quality was hit and miss.
I’ve used Bodyguardz as a screen protector for my iPhone X. I’ve broke a couple of screen protectors out of stupidity and it has protected my phones screen quite well, as I tend to be rough on my tech. Their customer service and warranty is arguably some of the best since all I have to do is pay for shipping and send back the broken protector to get a new replacement one. When I decide to replace my phone model with a new one, I’ll happily order a new screen protector from them.
Thanks for the comment.
This may be an odd requests but could we get the measurements for those screen protectors? I’m thinking of getting a Toasted wooden skin for the front panel of my phone but I’d also like a screen protector and so I’m trying to find a screen protector that’s good but will still fit with that skin
Have you tested the mous screen protectors?
I see on Amazon their are reviews of the spigen screen protector not fitting the iPhone se 2. Was that true in your testing?
Do you have a video comparing different brands of matte screen protectors for iPad. I have seen one where you compared paper like with a cheapo. Can you do another one where you compare 5-6 brands?
Trying to figure out how to measure APple Pencil wear and tear for that video. Soon.
I have an se I just bought the rhinoshield 3d plastic screen protector from your video, I haven't dropped it yet but I just trust is similar drop resistance as the 11th
It'll be off the charts for impact.
The Spigen protector is a good deal. I got the black bezeled version for about $12 on Amazon and it came with TWO screen protectors! At that price I’d just buy another if I break it, which I likely won’t.
How is the screen protector so far?
I just had a Zagg one installed at Best Buy Thursday. Geek Squad installed it. There was separation on the bottom left. So I brought it back last night and they put a new one on, and today I’m having the same separation. I’m a little upset. Apple said the Belkin ones they have are having the same issue with separation around the edges as well. Which is weird because it’s the same one they used on the iPhone 7, and I got one installed on mine and it worked perfectly for the entire duration of me owning the phone. Now I’m not sure what exactly to do and which one to try next.
Did you get any halo effect on the edges of the Spigen? Thanks
Do these recommendations hold up for gen 3??
Anyone with a dog named “Monty” is worth listening to in my book! My dog, Monte, would agree!
I have an slimpeak screen protector, and after 2 packs of 2, they... i think, the problem of not sticking well, they already solve it, again, i just like those screen protectors
So cute monty 🥺💕
Is the spigen one an edge to edge or the regular screen protector?
Do you have a link to the screen protector you use?
Even during quarantine this guy muscles are growing, and I’m getting fatter lol
I just keep buying smaller t-shirts.
@@MobileReviewsEh 😂😂😂
I’m thinking of trying Flolab for the 12. I usually get the Spigen. Does Flolab put one or two in the box? Spigen has two and I usually end up using both. Flolab is a bit. Ore expensive but if they include two I might take a shot.
Flolab only includes one. However, you get a lifetime warranty so you only have to pay shipping ($5) if you break it.
Did you test out amfilm tempered glass?
I prefer an edge to edge, can the edge to edge glass of iphone 7/8 be used for iphone se2020? thank you
Have you reviewed the loopy case screen protector? I am curious about it?
It's just normal tempered glass.
I got a $3 onn glass screen protector and it’s amazing lol
The difference in quality is there if you compare glass side by side.
I really loved iCarez screen protectors from Amazon. They cover the entire screen, even with the curved edges, and are very cheap. Not sure how they compare in durability to others, but for $10 for 2, I don’t really care.
I’ve been using belkin screen protectors with my XS Max that was installed at apple store. From my experience they’re more eager to replace screen protector for free if it was installed at apple store or damage is minor like small cracks or just bunch of scratches. They will just send you email to go to whatever apple store that is near you to have it replaced. However, once I destroyed mine pretty good because phone fell out of the pocket while on a bike at that time they refused the replacement, so I had to buy a new one.
Interesting.
So if you get a less expensive screen protector and it scratches and breaks more easily, is your phone screen also damaged?
dude what the hell i literally just cracked my screen protector a second ago...
Noes!
MobileReviewsEh “noes”- mobile reviews eh 2020
You should make your own case & screen protector. Other than that, I'll be sticking to Spigen, as always.
I won't. I'll elaborate in the next review.
@@MobileReviewsEh Damn. Would be awesome
Are the mous hybrid screen protector any good relative to these?? I have an Spigen align master on now. But I just bought both a mous case and hybrid screen protector, so I'm wondering if I should change it or not.
The hybrid glass is more impact resistant then the Spigen one but the Spigen one is more scratch resistant.
Use if if you bought it, the hybrid will be more protective but will wear quicker.
There are new iPhone 12 catalyst cases will you be reviewing them?
Yes.
Great video and I would expect more from Otterbox, perhaps their getting too big for (our) good.. WHAT i took out of this video is that glass will break eventually, it will scratch and it is a disposable item so why spend the big money for a brand name like otterbox which won’t warranty their product anyway.. I’m going with a mid or lower grade product and just expect to change it more often.. The way I see it I can get several or more than several lower grade screens for the price of one high grade so I’ll just change it when damage happens. Like you said it’s a disposable product, not meant to last forever. And by the way I kind of miss your daily reviews...
Makes sense! Daily reviews were unsustainable. The frequency will go up in the next couple of months for the iPhone 12, just nothing at the speed while we were in isolation.
Is that a rebel case? review coming up? ..I hope so
Tomorrow.
I also think maybe Flolab includes a warranty or replacement program on their screen protectors as well. When I dealt with them about it all I had to was pay shipping to get a new one and their site says “A limited lifetime warranty means if your Tempered Glass Screen Protector glass ever gets worn or damaged, FLOLAB will replace it for the life of your device” might want to look into that cause it’s kinda interesting but worded weird
Life of the device happened when Apple no longer had update support for the iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 for me. So I’d say about 5-6 years after the phone launched.
That’s what they explained to me. So as long as Apple still supports it. (Right now it’s the 6s still getting support since Apple will still update iOS 14 to the 6s), technically it’s still alive.
I'm surprised at this...I was told no. Good on them.
