@@BayouJosh This was the kind of video I was hoping to see. It showed me that I’m not far off of the “how to” get those epic shots. I just need to dedicate more time
@@ellasdad45 Time is the key Ted. I can’t begin to tell you how much time I spend outside. I don’t watch TV, and when I’m inside I’m typically editing a video or editing photos. I definitely watch a lot of UA-cam though. Got to figure out how other people are doing it. It’s such a beautiful life long pursuit.
Great video. My Sundays are dedicated to hiking and photographing birds. The first bird to greet me was a loud Red-winged Black Bird. The only bird I heard throughout my hike were black birds.
You eat Bugles for breakfast!!!! Awesome. I do not but my son will eat, well, whatever. Fried rice, apple pie, lasagne or any other leftover from the last few days…..for breakfast. I do really enjoy the soft flowing music that Morten uses but do appreciate your “this is how it is” approach to your videos. I just discovered your content so sorry for all of the contents over the last few weeks! Merry Christmas to you and Katie from Canada, Josh d’bayou.
I really love seeing the process and coming along for the journey more than anything! Most times I just see lens reviews and camera specs. It’s these moments that are really amazing. Great job as always man!
Thanks Brian. I really appreciate the feedback. I honestly enjoy making this style of video more than the others. You'll definitely be seeing more of this.
Excellent video Josh, I really liked it because you are just a normal guy doing what he loves doing. The Great Gray Owl footage was super. My bucket list bird but we don't have them on Vancouver Island where I live. I just subscribed and I look forward to more videos, thanks for sharing.
Great work and am watching them all! No judging here but... I like mine black; Community roasts some great lighter roast beans now and they are super inexpensive compared to the competition.. I'm kind of surprised that you haven't mentioned who's halfway responsible for every "nachelis" bone in your body. We also have the same view of kingfishers; I like 'em though. We get them every now and then at our small pond. We have tons of birds and literally hundreds of hummingbirds at our front porch and flowers and all in August, September and October (the front of our house faces the back!). Love to all DB
Everybody knows that black coffee makes your breath stink. You’re not gonna get a lot of kisses drinking black coffee. 😆 I sure would love to sit on the pond and see all those birds! Sounds like a little slice of heaven.
Great job Josh, I can’t believe the Great Gray is near Boise. I missed it, I was just there a few weeks ago. That can’t get old. Your channel is awesome man. Keep up the good work.
@@BayouJosh I got photos of the Great Grey that was here in Boise a few years ago, but totally missed these as well as the Sandhill Cranes....totally bummed!!
Love your stuff Josh. Really like your style and you have a great cadence and voice for your voice overs. I also very much enjoy seeing some of my old stomping grounds. Keep up the great content and I will watch from the East coast in envy until we are back out West. ...and please, stay with Nikon. 😁
Just subscribed. Love the content. I am in a similar position with my thoughts on mirrorless. I also do very similar photography in the western New York area. Not much luck with owls though. Saw your R5 review also.. I have given the R5 some thought as well, but I don't like Canons lens lineup yet.
I have had an R5 since Feb with a RF 100-500mm native. Getting the best bird shots of my life. I have an ef600 f/4 coming any day and can't wait. Got it used, no problem with that but to get good clean bird shots with an ISO of less than 2000, cant wait!!!!
*I have yet to see one of those owls I’ve only been lucky with a snowy owl and a browned all I love photography myself I don’t have the expensive gear but at least I do have a Canon 5D Mark four with a 100 to 400 lens on it And I’m able to get some half decent pictures I just discovered your channel and I subscribed*
@@BayouJosh thanks for the response! I am in search of a microphone myself, I mostly do bird photography and occasionally videography (say 10-15%), was looking at Rode Video mic Go. Do you have any good suggestions since you have used Rode Go now. Thanks in advance!!
Hi Josh Great video. I am a simple amateur wildlife photographer, I have a nikon 850D and I would like if you have tried the sigma 150-600mm Sport or a Tamron 150-600mm G2 lens and what is your opinion. Thanks. Best regards
I have used both the Tamron and Sigma on the D850. Both are very capable lenses in good light. I would recommend an f/4 Prime if you plan on doing a lot of early morning or late evening photography. Light trumps everything. additionally, the F/4 lenses compress the background much better than the f/6.3 on the Sigma and tamron. thanks for watching.
Great video. I just started following you on IG and my first time watching your channel. This year I've been fortunate to locate and photograph 6 different owl species, but the great gray is and has been the one at the top of my list. Finding one here in the east happens on a rare occasion but your content is inspiring.
Yet another very enjoyable video. Do you mind me asking what you use to record your commentary? It is crystal clear and seems to be unaffected by wind-noise. What do you use to record your "to camera" shots? Great stuff
Thank you Brian. I use the Rode NTG now but this older video was likely the rode mic go. All of my camera footage is with the Z6 and Z6II, However, this video I still had the D850 and the bird footage was taken with that camera.
@@BayouJosh Many thanks for that information. I have both a Z6 and a 7ii but, as yet, I haven't invested in a suitable microphone. Certainly something I must put on my list! Keep up the great work.
I have at any given moment 5-12 burrowing owls spread across three burrows in the empty lot next to my house. There 8-10 of these "condo's" in my neighborhood at any given time. I am bored to death with owls, lol. Just kidding, they are way better than the larger non-burrowing owls.
Great photography .
thank you my friend.
wow great area for bird photography
Indeed. I love Idaho.
love those video stills. feels like a photo but no the bird moves wow.
