It's so funny. I cooked a buttermilk sweet potato pie last year and I kept making the same face but couldn't stop eating the pie. It was very good but different too. Very good pie.
Hey everybodyyyyy! Thanks Mrs. Donna for sharing this recipe with us! We really enjoy seeing y’all everyday! I love seeing y’all everyday and I really hope that this will continue! The pie looks very delicious and Mr. Robert cut the perfect slice of pie! The pie was very pretty and I really hope that y’all like it! I’m glad that Mr. Robert likes this pie even though it’s not as dense as he’s use too!
Hi Donna I've always used buttermilk and ginger in my sweet potato pies. Buttermilk is one of my mom's traditions. The graham cracker crust is also good when making sweet potato pies 😋
Thanks Donna, I enjoyed your mother-in-law & your husband. You've such a genuine & sweet spirit. I plan to try both sweet potato pie recipes. Thank You
Im over here talking back to the screen: "Beaters! Beaters Mrs. Donna! Beaters! There you go, you got it! " 😅 My mother made sweet potato pues and sold them in our neighborhood. I can't eat them to this fay because NOBODY makes them like her. Maybe i will try your Mother's recipe. Thank you for sharing. ❤
Thanks Donna, I’ve never been a sweet potato pie craver like most Southerners 😅, but watching you, I'm going to bake them , my favorites of my grandma's baking was egg custard, lemon meringue pie banana, and breadpuddings 😝.
Thanks for the recipe Donna. I've found that you can blitz the sweet potatoes with an immersion blender for a couple of minutes to eliminate all the strings. Have a nice day.😀
Hi, Mrs. Donna! At Holiday time I use both the deep dish and the regular nine-inch pie crusts. Like you, I usually bake six to eight sweet potato pies for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas, and I make half of the pies with slivered coconut pieces and bake them in the deep dish pie shells, and for the regular pie filling, I bake in the regular nine inch pie shells. I use my mama's recipe for the same pie filling for both with the exception of sour cream for half of the evaporated milk. About 38 years ago, I experimented with my sweet potato pie filling by putting coconut slivers in it and then using a deep dish pie shell. It was for our church anniversary Sunday dinner after the celebration service. The members and guests loved those pies, and the ladies who were serving in the kitchen annex cut pieces for themselves and hid them back to take home😊 When people asked who made those pies, they became one of the things I became known for and every dinner we had at the church after that, all the ladies would request my deep dish sweet potato pies with coconut AND my bread pudding with pineapple pieces in it. Like you, I love my mama's recipes and use them all the time, but I always experiment with my baking (just a little bit) with an ingredient or two that Mama didn't use. I absolutely l-o-v-e your channel and the way you cherish your mother's cooking because it reminds me of my mother in the kitchen: she, too, was an extraordinary cook!
My grandmother made The Best Sweet Potato Pie. She has passed on. My mother has got it to the T per my grandfather who has also passed on but he told my mom, "Gal you got it" taste just like your mom's. I'm going to try my hand at it this year. I been watching. Thanks Mrs Donna I can't wait until you do your mom's.
Greetings and Salutations! Thank you for the Sweet Potato Pie Series. I always bake a couple of pies for Thanksgiving. I always use evaporated milk, but I've been curious about other recipes using another dairy. 🤔 So far, I think I'll stick to the evaporated milk. I truly appreciate you testing the waters of new recipes for us ❤
Every time I watch someone make sweet potato pies I think of my grandma. She would make a variety depending on what family members liked - some with coconut, some with nutmeg only, some with cinnamon only and then a nutmeg cinnamon combo. I couldn’t find evaporated milk one year and I used eggnog. Absolutely delicious. Grandma use to put that bowl on her hip and mix with her hand; and was able to get the string out that way. I think I’m gonna stick with Ms Donna and use my mixer😂
Hi !!! Mrs. Donna & Dude # 1 Happy Thursday. The butter milk sweet potato pie 🥧 looks delicious. It's a pretty color. Mrs. Donna you are such an excellent baker . I am looking forward for you to share some of your dessert recipes for the holidays. Thank you so much for sharing. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️🌼🌼
Hey Ms Donna and Dude #1..this is a new one..never heard of a buttermilk sweet potato pie..it looks good just like the original just a slight lighter than usual..Dude#1 really had his thinking cap on for this one..😂
Mrs Donna I will try it with Butter Milk and see what it taste like and if is good I will be making it for Thanksgiving. If Mr Robert say it good then I know it is.
Hello Donna, this is my first time on your platform. I make my sweet potato pie with sweet Condensed Milk and add an extra extract in mine and my family rave about it. Now My Mom used evaporated milk and hers and vanilla extra, nutmeg and cinnamon, still delicious tho. Your pie looks amazing.
I’m going to try this pie I love sweet potato pie and buttermilk pie So the combination should be delicious I’ll definitely let you know and give you credit when I make it lol
Heeeyyyyy there, Ms. Donna!👋🏽 I was a bit concerned about using buttermilk because of the twangy taste, and it made the filling look curdled. But, it actually came out beautifully and looks delicious! 🥧😋🤎🧡🤎🧡
Happy Tuesday Evening, Alright Mrs. Donna, Alrighty, another sweet potato recipe (yes I remove the strings in a bowl of water also). Your sweet potato pie baking is fast approaching, but we’re gonna do these videos w/you until you make your Mom’s.🥰 Like the look of this one better Mrs. Donna; love the crust. He already knows it’s different than your Mom’s. Looks good but there’s nothing like using your Mom’s recipe. Thanks again friend sharing the recipe with us. Blessings and enjoy the rest of your day.❤
I am loving the sweet potato 🍠 pie series! I tried adding pumpkin spice coffee creamer to my sweet potato pie last Thanksgiving. So Good! Your pies are beautiful and golden Ms. Donna! 🥧
Ms. Donna I have put ginger in my peach cobbler and my blueberry and blackberry pie, but I have never used buttermilk I will have to try it! Have you ever made a chess pie? I'm getting ready to look up your extraordinary Thanksgiving instructional video, it's September you know! I can honestly tell you, it's THE BEST Thanksgiving preparation video on the internet!!!! I look forward to watching it every year!!!!
Hi There, 2nd pie, I love sweet potato pie, and was wanting to make one two days ago, now seeing you making then has made me want it more , I see when I'll do it, we'll see you next Video, ❤❤ waiting for #3
Bless Pastor Heart ❤️ he is hilarious🤣 Lawd he was skrugglin 😂😂 what he was looking for is Souffle; the buttermilk version has the texture of a Souffle. Yall be patient wit'em he's getting there😂😂😂 Yall are the most authentic and wholesome couple on UA-cam!! May The Most High continue to Bless you all😊
I am looking forward to trying all the sweet potato recipes! And on a different topic, your skin is beautiful. You should also do some kind of routine on what you do to have such luminous skin! Peace and blessings from Tennessee.
The pie looks commercial and has a beautiful texture the orange color is lighter however, it looks deliciousioso. Have your was in the kitchen First Lady Donna and Pastor Robert, as your palette has certainly grown with texture examination sight overseeing and taste senses. God bless you sir 🙏 and your beautiful wife may the LORD continue to Bless you both in your pie 🥧 series sweet potato. Giving Honor to GOD First and foremost and to the rest of his children creatively AMEN 🙏
I enjoy your videos, Ms. Donna, they are great. I know you don’t need my input, in the meantime I would like to share a tip to the fabulous cooks on the media formats. When one uses a mixer to purée their sweet potatoes and they rinsing off the stringy fibers on the beaters, what a loss of sweet potatoes, instead they can puree the sweet potatoes with food processor and get a satiny smooth finish product. I use my food processor and I get a beautiful smooth creamy texture and my pies are not stringy and I keep the nutritious fiber and to boot I don’t lose any sweet potato filling. A fan, C. Underhill 😊
Ms Donna. I am like you I love my mom's sweet potato pie recipe and I have never deviated from it and her only spice is lemon extract. I cannot have nutmeg for whatever reason it spikes my blood pressure. One of these days I will make a different recipe for experimental purposes. Love your channel ❤❤❤
Hello my Minor Family. Good job on Sweet Potato Pie #2. I love the color.. Mrs. Donna. Do you have a video on how you make your Dressing. I went to try and find it maybe I miss it. will look again. ❤
I had a recipe for Sweet Potato pie that called for a cup of sour cream. It made it more fluffier like the buttermilk one you just made. I am like you I like Moms recipe with the evaporated milk. That’s what I grew up on 😊
Lawd, Lady Minor, are you wanting to adopt grown grand babies and great grand babies 😂😂😂 my family and I absolutely LOVE you all! ❤❤❤❤ That pie looks amazing!
@@cynthiacummings0917Thanks for joining our UA-cam Family! We love new comers and I’m so very sure that you’ll love and enjoy this family! We don’t consider ourselves or anyone as subscribers but as family members! ❤
I baked a couple of sweet potato pies in the Ninja foodie air fryer and they were the best pie I had ever baked. It has a bake mode, perfection. Yes, my grandma used evaporated milk and the pie was very thick and heavy. I was told by a family friend to use heavy whipping cream and I love my sweet potato pies with heavy whipping cream because it is light and fluffy.
You know Sister Donna, the price of sweet potatoes might hit the ski, since there are many different recipes to prepare it. Hopefully not. Your video #2 with buttermilk and ginger alone with your other ingredients looks delicious as usual. 😋👍Dude #1 knows the difference between your pies and the others and he "can get away with eating the buttermilk recipe". 😋👍
Hello Mrs Donna and Dude#1 I have never had a sweet Potato pie I may have to try your Mama pie love ya both I don’t like a lot of spice in my Pumpkin pie I just use cinnamon I don’t care for GingerThank you for sharing God bless you both🥟🙏🏻🥰❤️🧑🏾🍳

It's so funny. I cooked a buttermilk sweet potato pie last year and I kept making the same face but couldn't stop eating the pie. It was very good but different too. Very good pie.
I love the tip about putting the beaters in the water to get the stringy fibers off to make a smoother pie!
