It's amazing - the 2012 flare looks like 1980's soviet product... the kind of plastic, the graphics, font, everything...

Fun fact the Soviet military have used these spent flare casings to protect their barrels from sand and moisture. Apparently the threading for the twist off caps to these flares would screw on to the muzzle of any AK variant quite securely. They could be easily screwed off when necessary or in case of emergency they could be shot through or shot off the barrel with no damage to the AK whatsoever. The flare casing is made of waterproofed cardboard.
One correction, it would not work for any AK variant, only the AK-74 and other AK-100 series rifles with the tubular muzzle device.
A quick google of AK-74 and lets say an AKM and you will see what i mean.

Appreciate the video. I saw these in the pockets/chest pouches of some Soviet soldiers in Afghanistan and didn’t know what they were. I was wrong and thought they were the rocket charges for the RPG. 😂

And so we commence
I was friends with a VDV dude that told me he went to a retirement party for some officer and they were partying and lighting off these flares and one of the dudes touched it off and the flare shot out of the side of the tube and struck a kid in the head and killed her instantly. Seeing it now in action these are actually pretty damn scary in function and design. I'd never touch one off.

If possible, use disposable rubber gloves, when working with explosives and greases (I know it's not always possible in the field, but do try).

You mention the legendary Smersh too, would you ever do a video on that? Very few detailed videos on it. And I’ve seen it used by the hardcore special forces Russian guys in Ukraine so it’s still relevant

Yo Valgear, quick question: What helmet are you using? (I kinda like highcut without rails)
It's a a galvion Viper A5, current (2022) production, I bought it because it was cheap, from second hand, (around 200usd) reason for it being cheap was because it does not have rails, and is not even drilled for NVG shroud, so I use GWOT era norotos mount, and it works very well for me...
The new ones look 5hite. Cheers for the intel.

How can one get these
Valgear, have you ever heard of a disposable russian single shot grenade launcher called Penal? It's aluminum tube with threaded barrel, uses standard VOG grenade and "counterweight" thing in the rear end similar to AT-4 version that's adapted to fire from enclosed spaces. It's pocketable 40mm grenade launcher.
