But being unfamiliar with your survival world can be the fun part. You can restart anew in a different part of the world. Stumbling back onto your old stuff ends up feeling unique, rediscovering old memories, especially if you make a load of secret passages and hidden little corners.
I stayed out of my survival world for a long time, and when i returned, i found old tunnels that lead to my storage for blocks related to updates that were new at the time hidden behind a map wall and an armor stand.
my hard drive got corrupted unfortunately, I started a new world at the start of this year.

I turned keep inventory on on my longterm world a few weeks ago and OH MY GOD i don't hate playing now. I'm never going to be good at not dying, i constantly take stupid risks and misjudge distances, and after 3 years i still can't seem to git gud at Minecraft combat, nor do i have the time to. I turned it on on my first world for laziness reasons, but it felt like cheating and I abandoned that world after a while because my investment in it was gone.
For this current world i was more considered about it. I teetered on the edge of turning on keepinventory for about 8mo. Finally, it got too much. I was digging a giant hole and just kept dying. Realised it felt like i was spending more time recovering my gear and creating replacement gear than digging the damn thing. Then i lost a brand new set of netherite armour to the end void when i forgot i wasnt wearing my elytra and was incredibly demotivated. I was like, I'm 32, i want my relaxing time to be relaxing. I'm too old for this. Turned keep inventory on. Literal and figurative gamechanger. I can just dig my hole now and be slightly more successful at staying out of trouble. Havent replaced the netherite armour yet but i dont really need to atm.
I once also summoned the wither too near my base and turned on godmode to defeat it when i realised i didnt have the armor or potions to defeat it properly. I was going to lose everything and i didnt want to, and couldn't fix it in game.
My advice for cheats in existing worlds, especially long term worlds, is don't turn on a cheat or customisation if its going to feel to YOU like cheating. Only turn it on if and when it gets intolerable for you to play without it. Then, give yourself a break and turn it on.
If you are starting from scratch, do a test world, figure out what you like, and then start a long-term world with those conditions from the start. That way you wont feel like you are cheating either.

Delaying the endgame for as long as possible is the key for me to stick to a world. The second I get elytra, it’s like a switch trips in my brain and it decides I’m done.
Getting a large build project and future goals established early on, and make THAT the “end goal” of the world, rathe than just moving through the games progression.
Once I get some builds up and running, the inspiration keeps going. I try to wait until a project requires me to need shulkers or wings before I decide to enter the end.

Exactly, building a memorable base is my endgame goal in Single Player. The game progression is just a way towards this goal, not a goal in itself. Upon starting a new world I always ask myself what kind of base I want to build, and then take it calmly progressing through different stages and exploring the world to obtain what I need, step by step. This way it doesn't feel repetitive or boring, and I'm always eager to start a new world and see what amazing base I can achieve this time

Something I recently started doing was changing the difficulty depending on what I'm doing. If I'm building a mob farm, I'll put the game on peaceful mode so I don't get ganged up on by Creepers or set alight by Blazes. I plan on moving some villagers into my base and infecting/curing them for better trade prices, so I'll be switching to hard mode for that. i guess my tip is; certain things are just easier on different difficulties, so don't be afraid to switch it up every now and then (unless you're playing hardcore, in which case good luck with nether-based spawner farms. They are annoying as balls to build lol)

3:51 THIS. I have a long-term world. My playing consists of building a base and then just... leaving it. I take only essentials, like food and one set of tools and i wander across the world until i find a new location that inspires me to build another house. It feels pretty much like starting a new world, but i still have everything there for me to revisit again. But ever since i wandered 20k blocks away, i also have a long term goal - a nether highway to connect all my houses (or at least those i am able to find again). And no, not on the nether roof, cause that feels like cheating. Right through every single obstacle and biome. And i am really happy with it.

    • @Alacachoo
      @Alacachoo 4 місяці тому +7

I've doing something similar and its been 3 years(ish) since I started.
One of the tips I can give you is that if you start getting frustated go ahead and change tasks for a while (but make sure to register where you stopped), another is keeping a book and quill in your inventory permanently and type them out when you get new ideias (I know its one less slot but hear me out) that way when you have an idea that sounds good and you plan on doing it you won't have jump into it immediately and can plan it out over a few weeks/months and then get to doing it (you may even mix ideias and get something very nice out of it).
I also recommend taking your time to appreciate your builds, nothing like keep building on forever because that gets super boring after a while (atleast for me). Further your projects and detail the builds as much as you think is nice, add personality to them.
I remember watching a video ages ago about setting up nether portals but that is not my favorite way of transport, I love trains and railways in minecraft so I have a plan of building major railways between my builds and favorite biomes so that may be a good thing for your own world. Find your favorite way of transport, be it minecarts, horses maybe even boats and spread them throughout your world.
Minecraft is one of the most fun things I've ever played and I believe that so long as you're having fun you can keep playing on the same world permanently (a minecraft world is almost infinite after all).
Ps.: Mods are not really my thing but the description of the video has some awesome ones if its your permanent world, I'd put some tought on new animals for your world if you plan on modding.
If you have any questions you may @ me here and I'll answer when I can.
I hope you get to have as much fun in a permanent world as I do.

I've been playing mostly single player for years, probably have 3-4k hours easily. The problem I see with most players is how frequently they start over on new worlds instead of actually sticking with one. I do rush through the start of the game and in a few days have defeated the dragon, got full enchanted armour with elytra, a bunch of shulker boxes, a villager trading setup and a simple xp farm. This enables me to actually launch into huge projects that take months to finish. I gather resources to build stupidly efficient farms then use those resources to make bigger builds. It's honestly a ton of fun automating everything and then having their convenience help out while building whatever I want like mega bases, scaled cities, entire castle complexes or simply custom biomes.

My personal favorite tip for enjoying singleplayer is to turn on hard and not sleep. Turn off Phantoms, let the night happen. The danger of mobs is what drives you to build a base and get equipment. Without the threat of night, a house is just a pretty thing that is functionally identical to some chests, furnaces, and crafting tables in an empty field, but with night your home is your stronghold against the dangers of the world. Night is a problem with an open ended solution, one which sparks your creativity and drives you to survive and thrive through the game's strength of building and creativity, but simply rushing to get beds and sleeping through every night takes away your incentive to build

minecraft is for anyone. it's not everyone's cup of tea, but anyone can find a type of minecraft that suits them. i never "got" server play (i was voted most likely NOT to get along with others three years running in school), but i was always curious as to its appeal. a few years back, i asked some of my minecraft acquaintances why they only played on servers. i thought their answers would boil down to a preference for social play, but was surprised when the recurring nub for most was that solo required more effort or skill to be fun (!?!). these were supposedly adult players, some quite the rugged individuals, too. perplexed, i just buried that knowledge and never questioned it again. your video finally explained their answers to me. thanks...

The thing i personally enjoy about multiplayer, is the fact that the world doesnt stop once u log off! Other players might continue working on stuff, and next time you join, there'll probably gonna be some new cool stuff to see! It's kinda enchances the exploration aspect of minecraft, since aside from naturally generated stuff to explore, there's also stuff built by other people that one might stumble upon
It's also easier to split the work between multiple people. I for one kinda hate building mob grinders & such, but i do eventually reach a point when enchanting my gear would probably be a good idea, so i can just ask others to build it instead!
And minecraft (in my opnion) is all about telling stories via a world. Every little place may be memorible because of something interesting that happened there, or because you build something, or for any other reason, really! And this quality is amplified in multiplayer, since there are as many stories as there are people!
Im not trying to change your opinion or anything btw, just sharing my own personal thoughts! Im a type of person who gets bored easily in single player, not sure why exactly, maybe i should give another shot sometime soon!

@@NoodleDoodleWasTaken i appreciate your input and i understand why people like or prefer server play. i hear a lot of it from my daughter. i also like you use the game to create your own lore.
for me, solo play starts as an empty canvass that is mine alone to tame as much as i want (or not) and fill as i alone see fit. playing it on hardcore makes what i do in that world "precious" because everything is consequential.
Gathering resources is a part of the game for me; if i wanted resource gathering NOT to be important, i would play creative. playing without elytra and other metas, makes what i do meaningful.
so, everything others might find an irritant in the game, i find as a reason to play. therefore, i do not expect anyone else to understand my love of solo play to the exclusion of all other form of play. maybe i got IRL everything you seek in server play, and everything in solo play is everything RL lacks for me.
i have liked this game for quite a long time and find changes to it interesting at best and disappointing at worse but unnecessary for my enjoyment of the game.
minecraft has something for anyone who plays it, which is how we both can play it and not understand why each of us plays it the way we do. it can never be for everyone - no game ever was or can be, AND games that try to be, cease to be, because they lose whatever it was that made them unique or enjoyable...

I created a world with which I intended to be my forever world but I made one critical mistake. I explored too much of the world. I even mapped 3 x 3 full sized maps worth with my trading villagers and my industrial area smack dab in the middle. What happened was I saw so many opportunities that it slowed down my decision making. I couldn't focus. I started a new world with the new update going even smaller. Just for fun I tried using an old seed number I had because I remember it had mountains with villages and Cherry as well as the Deep dark had been added since then. I just may have a forever world on my hands but my old one is not going anywhere. It will provide me with a tableaux of my old work, help jog the memory.
    Keep up the good work

    • @norfabatonas
      @norfabatonas 21 день тому

Go back to the old world and work one step at a time. You can log the projects you want to make, so you don't have to do everything at once. The problem is not with your old world, though, and starting a new one will not help. You already invested time and effort into the old one, so keep on adding to it. That's what makes it a forever world.
Personally, when I'm overwhelmed, I like to focus on something small. It can be a menial task, like fixing a broken farm, but sometimes just doing anything at all in your world can give you the time to calm down and reflect. Afterward, you often find a new sense of direction.

I'm a builder so once I burn out of things to build, I tend to just stop. But whenever I get into a survival without peaceful, I tend to get annoyed with the hassle of mods, but maybe this time, I'll keep at it, maybe make it a "challenge" of sorts to continue going back to one world and one world only.
Thank you for this, a lot of people overlook the singler player experience of Minecraft and as someone who now has two people to play with, I've lost my joy in playing single player, but I think this video has kindled that burning fire within me to play solo again for a bit, whenever I'm not playing with my two friends

I started it in large biome mode to give me the impetus to go and explore on the way to material gathering. I still haven't been to the End in that world, I enjoy the travelling by boat, horse or foot. Every update I just trim to get the new features a little closer to home. There's no mega builds, but rather a lot of terraforming to suit the builds I do.
If I need a break I have go and play a challenge map like Skyblock or Superflat as I really enjoy the challenges on those worlds or even my Bedrock world which has its own set of challenges compared to Java.

I'm part of some technical Minecraft servers, but my singleplayer world is where I truly thrive. I've been playing on my world for two years straight, with 4,000 hours and 45 million digs. I built it all by myself and can look back on 15,000 days with pride, knowing every achievement is mine alone. My main goal is 250 million digs.
It frustrates me when people say the game is boring after beating the dragon. Come on. Even if you max out early game in two days, there's so much more to do in the late game. Minecraft is a sandbox game with endless possibilities. If you're struggling to be creative, try a modpack like GregTech. People just want to relive their childhood experiences. Make new ones. You don't need to stay in the early game. Late game is so much more fun with all your resources at your disposal.
When I started my world, I beat the Ender Dragon in an hour. The next 100 days were spent building farms, maxing out armor, and getting backups to move past the boring early phase and start grinding.
Right now, I'm working on an 816x816 hand-dug perimeter, planning to put in overpowered farms like a Y0 gold farm. I'm also mining end stone and obsidian to surpass my friends. I have 3 million end stone and 150,000 obsidian mined, with 12 more perimeters planned. I honestly find it hard to find singleplayer boring. (I don't like tnt duping lul)

I'm blind, and use accessibility mods to play. The mod has been developing over a number of years now, and I started out when it was much less sophisticated, so I took things very slowly in singleplayer. I'd stop to listen to the rain, or the music. I played on Peaceful difficulty so I could take my time without stressing. I turned on cheats for that world and disabled fall and fire damage so I wouldn't accidentally die because I wandered off a cliff-before the mod could detect drops and warn me of them, at least.. I turned on KeepInventoryOnDeath because I had one truly rage-inducing incident where I suffocated in sand and lost two diamond pickaxes...
The world I have now I've had since 1.16.5, and I often leave it for months at a time. I am in the process of building a tall tower that probably looks terrible because again, I'm blind, and am just using blocks I happen to have a ton of. I'm very proud of my storage area, though-it's a long cavern carved out underneath my tower base and I've used deepslate tiles for the floor and deepslate bricks for the walls, with the ceiling of smooth stone and lit by lanterns. One wall is lined with three-high stacks of double-chests. I'm thinking of building an autosorter along the other wall at some point.
All this took me ages to dig out and fill up, and there's still a lot of stuff I want to get hold of, but it's gonna take time and practice.

im sorry but. i feel like youre kind of proving the criticisms right when your points can either be summed up as "change the vanilla experience" or "resist the poorly designed extrinsic rewards"
and like, yeah, i get it in the latter, minecraft is a sandbox game. but also, i feel like we're nearing a point where mojang needs to either commit to that and start designing minecraft like the sims, or actually develop the survival and exploration aspects of their game (which, in fairness they seem to be doing now in recent snapshots)
as for the former, i just think its kind of ignoring the heart of the issue. i love mods, but i don't think they invalidate the issues people experience with singleplayer minecraft, not even partly, because i figured it was natural to assume theyre always talking about the base game unless they specify otherwise. recommending they play with mods is a good idea for sure, but it doesnt fix the issues present in the vanilla experience, and so advice like that doesnt feel like it makes sense if youre trying to defend the vanilla experience.
which. i guess you explicitly were _not_ in that section, but it felt relevant since the overall video seemed to be about vanilla singleplayer advice

@@eugenewes I’m really trying to keep playing on my main world. The first stages are my fav, once you get wings it’s too easy, I delay that as much as poss and go to a new area and ‘start again’ but sane world. Hey, that ‘cheat’ of keep inventory was a complete lifesaver for me. I’d get SO frustrated I’d quit before

As someone who has play Minecraft since around the age of 4, 11 years later I still I love this game and you make a lot of really good points. I play a lot of single player worlds so it might get a little boring from time to time but Minecraft is and enjoyable game. And to who ever reads this I hope you have a good day and a lovely Minecraft world.

I’ve just started a new solo world since I wanted to play with the Tricky Trials update but I’ve always had that burnout stage you talk about with the solo world and was hoping to avoid that
I’ve decided to try something new and give myself a story to follow. I was thinking about how I really only saw story-driven Minecraft videos on SMPs, and I think that while it is fun to have someone else to bounce ideas off of and yes and- you, it can also be done alone. I’m doing this since I recently saw a TikTok talking about how Minecraft takes place in a post-apocalyptic time and with every update the world is healing (more mobs added=life coming back and things like that). There’s also a ton of implied lore so I try to work that in to the journals I keep in the world. (Also with the chiseled book shelves I can see just how much I’ve done based on how many books I fill (each journal is a week in-game time) and have a record of what I’ve accomplished/learned)
I may be following that cliche storyline of “I woke up in a strange world and must build a life for myself here”, but my whole mindset with this is “Cringe is dead, do what I want and have fun” and I’m enjoying it so far :)

Great video... Suggestion for those 'Survival Players' who might get a bit bored (late game) exploring with your full netherite etc - try turning natural regen OFF and stick to it. This brings a whole new dimension - it makes beacons and potions actually useful. You can use the new crafter to make suspic stews of regeneration. I've been doing this for well over a year, and it's really engaging. You'd think totems would be more useful, but I'm not sure I've used a single one (but they are vital for feeling safe when cave exploring etc).

The reason why I get so bored with solo plays is because I used to always play with a close group. I left for personal reasons and only talk to one person from that group now. We built a whole apartment for the 4 of us, each with our own floors, and it was pretty and meaningful. We built it together and I was a part of that experience. I had a running joke of wanting to become a dictator of a village so we all got together and added our own builds to that village.
I still wonder whether or not they left my builds alone or took it down. We separated for good which is why it’s hard to be positive about it when looking back. Now, it just feels meaningless to play by myself.

For me, it is the small details that make Minecraft fun in singleplayer. The sort of stuff that on a server would never be noticed. For instance, I was making these dank dark catacombs beneath a cathedral, and I put water above the catacombs to add a dripping effect. It's a really small detail, but it does a lot for the ambiance.

I love revisiting my first minecraft worlds. They're from more than a decade ago. I save the original and make a copy, and in the copy I go through and fix all the spelling on my signs, organize my chests, fix the lighting (aka remove the 1 torch per block), and renovate with all of the new blocks that have been added since.

The solution for me has been to host my own "singleplayer" server, where its my world, but with the option to bring friends along whenever there's a wish for that. Still gives me full autonomy over the pace and potential plugins.

#3 is more important than people realize. I still have my very first world, and my very first hardcore stil going. I rarely play them, or actually add much to them, but I DO go back just to afmire them, even if my first builds were very lacking, and the amount of blocks to use very limited. My first hardcore I specifically made a whole treetop village in a large jungle, with each large tree platform being either a house, animal pen, shop, storage, ect. I still love that world just for the asthetic

Ever since I started taking things slowly, doing things my own way and at my own pace I easily got past the "2 week minecraft phase" and have picked up an old world from 2016 and have been playing on it regularly ever since. I have multiple projects that i can switch between whenever i get bored of the one im working on, and I have a broad goal for the future of the world. I have obtained the elytra a long time ago but ive only used it a handful of times instead of all the time like I used to. Feels great to enioy Minecraft again.

Back in the day, I had a world in which I made a lodge in a snowy spruce forest, complete with a modest pumpkin farm kept thawed by some newly-acquired glowstone. I had snow golems wandering freely about the lodge's surrounding area, protecting me and my wolves. I still think about that build from time to time and its been well over 10 years. If only i still had access to my old account, or even just the old HP laptop my mom let me play it on. Trackpad minecraft was so hard. What a game changer my first mouse was.
