I'm loving Dutch more and more ever since his Podcast with the British guy James.
This just kicks ass. Unfortunately these days are gone forever.
At least we have this. I haven't watch wrestling in 20 years, until I discovered these old videos.
@@supernoobsmith5718 same.
Dutch Mantel, one of the most underrated wrestlers ever to enter the squared circle. One tough hombre who did it his way and did it well AND played Wildwood Flower like a pro.
Smart Booker who knew the business. The Memphis style really appealed to fans in that area and era. AEW is praised for drawing 10,000 fans today, which was a normal Monday in Memphis.
Im still waiting to see Dutch's ...."Memphis Heat"....to this day well after that has came out...it pisses me off that Dutch wasnt asked to be a part of that.
Buddy Landel was hilarious
For about a minute I THOUGHT DUTCH WAS WEARING A SWEATER 😂😂💯💯in the ring .
RIP Buddy Landell and Eddie Marlin
Don't forget Jackie Fargo.
Landell had some of the funniest interviews I've ever seen. He never stuttered in his promos, it was all fluid. When he said his problem is he's got 6 dates tonight...I almost went into cardiac arrest.
dundees exceptional in this run. frantic energy
Lance tells Dutch this is not the place but he started the whole thing😂😂
I like how Lance helps those that struggle on the mic get thru it.
A lot of underrated talent came thru Memphis. Just off the top of my head Austin Idol and Buddy Landell should have held the world title.
Love the King and Dutch Mantel
The Greatest of Great! Wish there was more moments like this today.
The reason no one ever took Buddy Landel serious as "The Nature Boy" - he's wearing a three piece suit with wrestling boots......
Really Lance started the whole fight.. lol ..
In the 70s no could match Memphis wrestling. Sold out the Mid South columsom every Monday night.
Lance Russell was the best.
Did bill Dundee and buddy landell whoop Jim Jamison in more than one match
Wow some of the best angles , and Lance gets a slap in the face !!!!
Jerry held the table, so it didn't roll off, these guys are the best of all time !
Anybody else catch the huge ripped hole in the seat of Dundee's pants?
The 22:00 minute mark where landell is talking about goin to a bar and almost catching lung cancer fucking killed me 🤣
Jerry Lawler & Dutch Mantell are the best team against Landel & Dundee.
1:30:35 "...'cause Dave rings the bell." It's not particularly clever but it cracks me up every time.
Buddy Landell was a tremendous talent and entertaining on the mic. Should have been a much bigger star than he was.
I think his habits got in the way
He did it to himself, over and over
I live in Chilhowie Virginia, and the stories about Landall around here are as much as frost on a Iceberg. All in all Landall what a missed opportunity.
First full year without Jimmy's hart
So great. Lance was amazing. So believable
Nearly every wrestler who's competed in Memphis, Tennessee has been both a heel and a face! That place is like The Twilight Zone!
Feb 22
I was 2 days old lol
btw...did anyone pick up on what Lance said at 6:31? lol. He was talking to Dutch and said "keep your eye on mantel dutch." 🤣 loved Lance Russell. that voice was a huge part of my childhood every sat afternoon. Hes calling the super card matches in heaven rt now. imagine the talent at those events. 🤔 RIP Guys...
oh and what was Travis waiting on at 11:15? lol. just standing there then all of a sudden said oops, I better help Dutch.
Even the best stumble occasionally I guess. 😅
It's so great that all this footage is still avaliable. If I'd had this growing up in the UK I'd have been a happy kid.
Not to knock World of Sport, it was good, but my god Memphis had the best.
Bill Dundee is the coolest dude of all time, Daddy!
What's funny is look at Bill Dundees figure 🍐 arms have no muscle tone...just hilarious!!!
I've seen him work out with 400 lbs on bench, many times in the eighties
Lawler too no muscle
5'1'' 😂😂😂😂😂
He split his pants the goof! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Unfortunately same can be said about the late bobby eaton. Bobby was a fantastic athlete, but he had a beer drinkers body
Cornie says he worked his ass off in the gym, just couldnt define like stan lane did
The best and worst thing to happen to Buddy Landell was that Nature Boy gimmick . It got him noticed but pigeon holed him as a wannabe . He should have ditched it after being fired from Crockett Promotions .
The beginning is EXCELLENT, the wrestling outta be presented. Lance is so good and these three wrestlers knownwhat the hell theyre supposed to do.
Bruh....Dutch can really play...if not he faked it damn good
Buddy was so great!!
The debue of JJ 😁
Debut .
Kris, this was well put together! I appreciate all of your contributions and time to making these recaps and matches you post!
Keep bringing us amazing wrestling moments from yesteryear! 💪🤘
No one was as good as lance Russell
Bill Dundee and Buddy Landel beating up Dirty Dutch Mantel
Bunch of bullshit!!!! You don't fuck with the dutch!!!!
They were working a solid storyline! The promos were 📺 GOLD!!
Excellent
Buddy was bragging about his three piece suit!! lol was wearing his wrestling boots with it!!
First time I seen a wrestler with a three piece suit and wrestling boots on Rip Buddy
Business in Memphis got so bad after he lost the loser leave town to Dundee that they broke it and Lawler had to come back in 86 I believe but Memphis was such a great wrestling territory im not sure but Jarrett going to Texas and merging with world-class could that be what killed his territory?
There were a lot of moving parts to what went on in 1986. Crockett's monopoly over booking Ric Flair for World title matches led to Jarrett pulling out of the NWA and aligning the territory with the AWA in '86.
At that point, Memphis was probably in a little better shape business wise than the AWA, and Verne started talking merger in 1988. When that didn't fly, then Jarrett started talking with the rapidly declining World Class. Jarrett still held the better hand in his dealings with the Von Erichs, though Kevin pulled out of the USWA deal and tried suing Jarrett and Lawler.
It's important to remember that when Vince McMahon was looking at possible prison time for the steroid thing in 1993, he was looking to Jerry Jarrett to run the WWF in the interim.
Ironically, what killed Memphis wasn't the expansion attempts. It was the Monday Night cable wars in the late 90s. Attendance at the Monday night cards at Mid-South Coliseum, which was a weekly tradition in Memphis, declined sharply. At that stage, their cooperation with the WWF as a developmental territory kept Memphis wrestling, be it Power Pro or MCW, running until around 2001 at which time they threw in the towel. Jeff Jarrett was wrestling for WCW by that time, having parted company with the WWF on amicable terms.
When WCW went out of business, both Jerry and Jeff turned their attention to the formation of TNA.
Jerry Lawler was good but he could not beat everybody
Lance Russell, " Dutch Mantell, the #1 reasident of Oil Trough, TX!" 😅😅😅😅
More like the only resident in the fictitious town of Oil Trough, TX! 😅😅😅😅
Miss you Lance
RIP does the best Sam Muchnick impersonation!
"RIP, MY BOOOOYYŸ!"😅😅
The "my boy" was Jim Barnett's catchphrase, not Muchnick's.
When Landel + Dundee jumped Dutch I'd love to know when they drew blood on Dutch, did he take it the "Hard Way" or by a "gigging". I asked 'cus I thought I heard Dutch say once that he didn't like using them but maybe I misremembered.
Lance was the best instigator-announcer! lol 😆
Man I'd be pissed off if someone I was wrestling partners would talk shit about me too. Right! They got to back it up!
Dundee and landell are fucking turncoats!!!
So this was pretty much the TV premier of Jeff Jarrett as a performer?
Yep.
Mantel has a natural fur vest. Damn that back never saw a razor.
this is rasslin !!!!!!!
Nice
Landel, won
Wrestlemania II was only II days later
Lance really started the whole fight.. lol...
This is from 86 but looks like 76
Get to the point Banana Nose!
Did Bill Dundee and buddy landell whoop Jim Jamison in more than one match
Lance Russell instigating lol
Why is Landel wearing his wrestling boots with his suit ?
Good eyes because I never noticed!
Because he had a match next. Common practice for live TV.
Because he's a fucking goof
He might have a heavy date after show
@jamesstorey2842 bet she had a pile of crack cocaine waiting for him too!! Heavy potties pay for the drugs!!😅
Dutch mantell Ellis of Memphis
Back when wrestling was wrestling. I can't watch WWE & AEW today because its so boring and pathetic. All we see is roided up kids basically. No more like Joe Leduke (sp?) Or dusty Rhodes types with great energy. No today we get young kids that all try to act alike and just aren't believable. Then you have women's matches and 90% of the time they mk everything look so fake. Some is ok but today there's waaaay too much for my tastes. Tks away from the wrestlers we want to see. Now idc what they do. I stopped watching over 6 yrs ago. Hell Vince don't care so why should I? Haha. What I said about the women's matches has absolutely NOTHING to do with sex....but everything to do with how they make things look during the matches. Now the attitude Era was great! Perfect how they did it. Just the rt amount of matches. All I know is today i miss the old Memphis days and the Atlanta days as well as the Florida days. (That should tell ya which end of the country im on. Haha) The small tv studio matches. Arenas get boring. Its not as in your face as studios were. I speak for myself of course....just sad how bad wrestling has gotten over the years. For me when WWE stopped being WWF.....thats when the beginning of the end started. It steadily went down hill.
Calm down Dundee! 😂😂😂😂😂
That's hilarious, as Lance 100% CAUSED Dutch to get beaten up by Dutch and Dundee. But does he take any personal responsibility? LOL, of course not.
Any video of the exterminators tag team
