I was today years old when I found out you left the band because of health issues ... my heart's with you Romain.
I don't see that anywhere...
Part man, part machine. Underneath, it's a hyperalloy combat chassis, microprocessor-controlled, fully armored. Very tough...But outside, it's living human tissue. Flesh, skin, hair...blood. Grown for the cyborgs.
I saw Romain with Necrophagist headline a 6 band bill about 8 years ago, all the drummers were great but he stood out, really incredible drummer.
I don't ever recall seeing a fill like 1:44. Man that is sick. And it's cool how well the other instruments accompany the drums in that bit, and not vice versa.

I remember watching this video 5 years ago when it came out and I was just getting into metal drumming. Yeah I had no idea how amazing this playthrough is and that Romain would become one of my favorite drummers of all time. Funny how things turn out.
He's one of the ones to follow.

How did you get behind the set?
larzancover, I heard that some drummers, the really sick ones, are inseparable from their sets. If you want to call a drummer out for a walk, you guys are gonna have to carry the whole thing.

His technique is very similar to hannes großmann, who uses fingers plus wrists. Look up the Hybrid technique by him.

that was awesome, romain... but i was wondering about heel-toe, is there a criteria involved for you to use it?
If I remember well, he told me he's doing it because he's simply looking for the best in terms of stamina-saving.
i get it but there are parts where he can clearly use it and he just doesn't, i was wondering why is that, what is his criteria about it
it looks like he mostly uses it when he's playing sections with long sustaining 16th notes, if he's only playing a burst of 16ths, a pattern or 8th notes and slower he doesn't need to use the doubles
