Anyway excellent playthrough. I like it a lot, interesting to contrast the nuances between you and Kevin swapping takes on drums on anything either of you have done. I think the studio Drums Kevin plays sound a little more grindy raw and unrefined(not a bad thing because I think that plays well to the musical style and he wanted it to sound that way and "unrefinded" from either of you is refined to sound more raw and agressive). The biggest difference in overall sound/texture is cymbal usage and ride usage/accents between the two. But there is a lot of stuff you did that I really like vs studio version of Kevin. I like both takes on the song by two great drummers. Hearing how you both play through the same song and each of your spins on the same song is something really cool. You both kill it, the songs sound like themselves, but there is an appreciable difference between the way you to attack a song at any given time. If I had to pick one I'd pick both. You had some cool ideas and brought out some different colors in the song with how you chose to play. Very well played and well thought out drum parts for this song. Both versions are a joy to listen too. I think if I had to write out the drums for this song in sheet music(and playthrough) based off of just your and kevin's ideas I would combine aspects of both for something I like the most(personally). But if I were doing that it would be hard not to combine both versions in many different ways for like 10-15 different drum lines for the song you could cycle through on an album. Respect! Kevin is a little grindier and you sound just a bit closer to an artificially highly artificially intelligent drum machine with very amazing sense of dynamics. You sound a bit more precise and robotic(in a good way) at times as far as timbre and what would be dynamic sample selection except you are playing the perfect sample in real time on a real set throughout the entire song. That mixed with very creative and dynamic things people either never think to program or, can't program with that amount of detail as far as timbre, timing and dynamics. Like some parts it's like the perfect drum machine if there was one and other parts drum machines either can't play with that level of finesse or very very few people can or would go through the painstaking process of attempting to make a drum mahcine/sampling program sound like that because it would be more of a pain in the ass(for me personally as a drummer) than being able to play extremely close to exactly what you played and make it sound the same way dynamically and in terms of timbre. Mad props for mad chops. I mean you can shred death metal, grindcore or anything extreme in all manor of ways you feel like second to none but beyond that you are an all around amazing drummer. It's a shame you don't get more exposure. In extreme music I can't name a better drummer, just different style really and as an all around drummer it's sad you don't get recognition as one of the world's best. If more people were exposed to more of how much you can do and how versatile you are you would be plastered all over guitar center and the front of gear websites. I honestly feel like that is how good of a drummer you are, and it's unfortunate more people haven't heard of you or heard you play or put on clinics(literally and in bands) in truly gifted drumming. I hope necrophagist and all you have been doing have helped more people to be able to hear you but for how good you are as a drummer playing anything I'm amazed even since joining necrophagist in what seems like a lifetime ago now, it doesn't seem like people recognize how phenomenal of a MUSICIAN you are. I remember seeing this and listening to imperial sodomy before I started playing drums and feeling inspired to shoot for the stars even though I never imagined I'd be able to play like this. I've definitely grown in to decent drummer in my own right(I can play lmperial sodomy and beyond easily all day) but then theres you, who absolutely blow away my drumming and are on such a different level you I feel like you have to be a pretty damn good musician to even understand. You amazed me then and you have only grown and grown since I first heard you like 15 years ago. Today you still inspire me to get better in every aspect of musicianship and feel humbled about my ability and never get complacent and always be working hard day in and day out looking at how I can improve myself. You're playing has touched me and I think the world is lucky to have a musician of your level of giftedness!!! You'll always be one of my favorite and most innovate, precise, totally in control but out side the box drummers. There's increadible drumming and then there is listening to you play something... Truly one of the most very most gifted drummers overall in the world. Best of luck going forward in your career and I wish you much more hard earned success you have worked hard for and truly deserve as much or more as anyone of the 7 billion people on earth to ever play a set.
Necrobreed, their first album with Goulon, will drop in February of 2017. Goulon, however, had issues with focal dystonia that were exacerbated by having to play demanding material every night while out on tour, and he ultimately left in the summer of 2017

Love Disavowed and want more new albums and music than necrophagist. Nothing against Kevin who kills it with Disavowed and is excellent playing in many bands, but I prefer Disavowed with you. I would kill to hear you track a new disavowed album. I mean I Stagnated Existence is still one of favorite albums to listen to, and especially for drums. I can't imagine how good a new Disavowed album with you would sound after all these years. Hard to Imagine. Nothing against Necrophagist, or any flack for not releasing any album and nothing against Kevin, but I wish you played live and recorded with disavowed vs being in necrophagist. That's just as a fan. I can't think of a more qualified drummer for necrophagist and you guys are all extremely talented. I just like Disavowed a little more than necrophagist, given they are stylistically quite different. But if I'd never heard you in Disavowed way before you got the good role with necrophagist and have played the songs as good as I've ever heard them live on drums(Marco Minneman was so good too I hate even having to compare because both of you bring so much to the table let's just say you both sound so good, that you can't play better just different stylistically). Kevin is relentless and love his drumming too, just like your style more subjectively. I'd love to see a show where you play with disavowed, benighted and Decapitated and Kevin plays for Necrophagist and Mumakil, Arse Breed and Imperial Sodomy or something crazy like that. Be interesting to hear him do necrophagist and with a lineup like that you two would be putting on a clinic with an interesting spin. Really interesting mismatch in technique when doing doubles on his feet. His right foot double is the most common type(I've seen) where the heel isn't on the pedal but hanging off the back, and the "heel" motion is just the heel moving down, followed by the "toe" for the second. But on his left foot his heel is up quite high, and the double almost looks like some sort of slide motion?? Either way it sounds incredible and seems to work just fine. Been a fan of Romain since before he was even in Necrophagist and always thought that every band he works with he makes better.

Is amazing how your left foot is doing the motion heel-up like singles. How do you do the motion like that? And the double-bass runs were what speed? 260-ish bpm? Are you gonna record an album with them as well as touring? Thanks. :)
He seems to be using a kind of up-and-slide double stroke technique with the feet. That's really impressive! One of the greatest extreme drummers out there.
So it seems that Necrophagist will not release an album anytime soon. But anyway, Roman is a Great drummer playing for an awesome band. All the best of luck guys
