I remember watching this in 2016, telling myself that by the time I'm the same age as Ken in this video, I want to be able to play at least 80% of this song. I am actually now the same age as Ken was in this video, and I am close to about 20%. His drumming is madness.
Honestly I only listen to aborted because of Ken

He grooves like no one, his fills are so rich, clever and jazzy as hell, he's got everything ; balance, calm, precision, power, nuances...what a fucking genius - I can watch this all day...

Or you just being ignorant and doesn't notice that his fills and breaks are very sophisticated and have accent and rythms intentions very similar to ones we can hear in jazz.

Wonder if you realize the context blasts are used in now is nowhere near the same lol also his fills are not "intricate". Just fast back and forth hands and feet. Quick jerking this guy off. He's not great, just cranks his metronome up

I recommend you to decompose slowly its fills and to dare say that but I really think that you don't know music theory, either that or you're a mediocre musician. Go talk to any professionnal that knows what he's ralking about and you'll what he's thinking of Bedene.

One of my favorite drummers. His style is very organic and non-mechanical while being blazing and precise at the same time.

+Thébaïde I didn't determine it by ear haha. I can usually kinda feel the bpm of a song but it's not really accurate, often around 5 to 20 bpm off
+Thébaïde and that just comes with listening to a lot of music and playing a lot of drums and guitar, after a while you get a feeling for different tempi

I was the obnoxious guy yelling "best drummer ever!" , and after your set, as you were packing up, I told you that I loved this video and you gave me a fist bump. Its hell of an overstrain..
That's a common thing when you are recording. I usually have everything pretty close but when I go record in the studio, cymbals be further away than usual. The engineer always makes me do that. I believe it helps tom microphones capture less cymbal bleed, but I ain't no expert.
@@FilipeGomesDrummer Happened to me too. I'm a low and close typically with my drums when I practice then I recorded for the first time and engineer was like "we gotta alter this". Definitely for cymbal bleed.

He mastered swivel foot technique and shows he can play with many other techniques as well . He probably did this in one take . It’s like a walk in the park for Ken !
ABORTED is one of my favorite bands. 1 of only 5 bands I have on rotation usually.
This album is the best of all... keep it that way!
I've seen a lot of metal drummers in my life and Ken was the only that made people cheer during the sound check. His blast beat during the sound check was unreal sounding. Sure I've heard faster, but something about the way he made the blast sound, it was an overwhelming feeling.

The funny thing with Ken Bedene is that when a part comes when he must blast around 250-280bpm all of his muscles suddenly get really relaxed and he looks that he is more comfortable playing blastbeats at those tempos than lets say 4/4 drumbeat with a tempo like .. 120bpm? This is fucked up.

What sticks out to me,other than the sweet top half,is the different ways he plays his kicks,to match the speed and intensity of the piece,in my opinion the best extreme drummer out there!!
1:26 to 1:32 is kind of the only thing I would manage in this song.
The breakdown drumming is just amazing and groovy, it makes you think how you didn’t think of it yourself!

20 years ago I used to think Ray Herrera from Fear Factory was like a drum machine with his feet. This man is on a whole other level that I personally will never come close to reaching and he makes it look so damned easy.
I seen Herrera many times. He did alot of double bass bursts, to this day he was still badass.

Stunning playing, amazing drummer! Sound-wise, those small toms have more bass in the mix than the bass drums themselves, which is pretty unrealistic EQ'ing, but I guess you do what you have to do to be heard in the mix.
it only sounds like that because of the timbre of the bass drum/material of beaters and how its produced to make sure it cuts through the mix

I know Ken and his Dad frank, they used to play in a band together called BLOOD OF CAIN he's an amazing musician and a nice dude,his dad rules too, we used to do several shows with them.
