It amazes me how Americans use the years to identify models, it’s obvious really, the same with your cars. Europe doesn’t do that, well I haven’t noticed anyway. It’s a fine showpiece too Arthur. Your plan soon changed there Brother. Yup that’s got bones in it rattling around. Those black gloves look cool. Keep it gravely brother
Yes I was lucky to make one good mower attachment without spending any money. I will clean and paint the broken one to go back on the orange tractor since that tractor is only a show piece. Thanks for watching brother!!!
The gearbox on your orange deck is the model 58 which was known for cracking where it mounts on the deck. The other gearbox is the model ma601 which was the best gearbox they made. Someone was brush hogging and hit something and bent the shaft and took out the bearing. Or being that the seal is gone and there is grease in the gearbox the bearing didn't have enough lube heated up and seized. Check the teeth on the gear to see if there are any missing.
Hello Kris. The ma601 definitely has a broken gear. It's a shame too. It's the better deck. I only use the brush hog to test tractors and cut the little field. As always Thanks for your input!!!
I have a gravely model L and every time I try to engage the mower with the switch like you did in the video it grinds. I put both levers in neutral and it still grinds. Is there something I’m doing wrong, or is there something I need to get fixed?
Love learning about these small different things with old Gravely tractors, things you may take for granted, thanks for sharing.
I'm glad you're learning about all the different projects we do. I appreciate it and Thanks for watching!!!

Glad the gear box on the brush hog is working and working well
Thanks. It's not the heavy duty gear box but it's good enough for what we use it for here.

They all grind. Make sure the idle is low enough and engage it with a quick motion. Thanks for watching 👍
