I’ve spent the last 3 months catching up with your Josephine journey. It has been a sheer delight. Thank you so much for sharing. Such strong will and perseverance from the both of you. Chapeau.
The usual mode of failiure for those hydroswiches when they are too old is that they go off when they should not have. Very surprising for the person wearing the life jacket! They always go off when submerged no matter how old they are.
There is no need to replace the canister on the life jacket. It does not get old. You just weigh it to make sure it has the correct weight so it is still filled.
Reg, I started watching when you were building the shower area, since then, I’ve been continually gobsmacked at both your and Randy’s patience, skill set and determination to correct so many defects. She’s now a beautiful lady ready for the next adventure in your lives, and I like every other subscriber is looking forward to the adventures you want to share. I’d love to see her one day, though being in Australia, it might be difficult, but you never know what can happen. Thank you once again to both of you.
bitter sweet viewing Reg , every job done well including including the filming & editing Randi. ? The best restoration tale I've seen & now sadly over for us arm chair sailors. THANK YOU ! both , I do hope you are rewarded with great voyages & are able to share some of them with us . BonVoyages . Pete .
Wow!! Great informative video Reg End of an era , Josefine oozes character and quality, you've both done an amazing job she looks fantastic Nice at the end to see you winding fishing line onto the reel Good luck and safe sailing
Full-on episode that gave a real feel to the amount of work you got done! Complimenti! Your home on the water looks fantastic! Enjoy the sailing and i look forward to episodes on your travels.
I am looking forward to Sailing Josephine. I have followed your trials and successes since that first disastrous video. I will never forget the mast snapping on the dockside. Well done both of you: grit, resilience, self-reliance, deep resourcefulness, a great boatyard team and now, rich reward. You now have a much better, safer boat than would have been true had Josephine been 'OK'. I still hope some ruinous financial disaster has beset your surveyor for Josephine. Fascinating about the tablet GPS on cellular vs non-cellular! Safe sailing ..
Really nice to meet you both & see Josephine & Lily up close. this week. Fantastic skills & craftsmanship as ever, in this episode. Fair winds & hope to see you both again. Hope to see your adventures on UA-cam too🔔
There's getting the boat to reliably float.... and then there's the rest. What's impressive is you still keep up the quality of the stuff needing to be done. I'm really looking forward to the sailing videos to come. How about we sponsor a drone? You are already a pilot.
6:21 "...the lounger, no good for man nor beast..." Appropriately cheeky appraisal, having marveled at the stern deck refresh recounted at 4:46 Cheers!
Hey and ho, Josephine gang !! Glad to know ye are now sailing, and hope that your life runs a wee bit slower, sleep in mornings, etc ad infinitum....Amazing job, and now you can enjoy the fruit of yer labour. Looking forward for your future sailing episodes.... Allda bestest from mikke in sweden, who presently are making my wooden 7m double ender wiv a Albin engine from 1948, same year as me.....;.D
You always remind us life's challenges are all about personal education... exceedingly empowering...oh yes..with a cool head... entertaining as well... very well lived....much mahalo and aloha..sail on friends...
I have used the garmin device on an old iPad, when I bought a new ipad from John Lewis I found that the sales assistant didn’t know about cellular iPads having GPS chip fitted, this is excellent info you have put out and hopefully will save anyone buying the wrong device. Lesson is know what you want and don’t rely on the shop 👍
Better information and entertainment than anything on BBC, Sky or ITV made at a fraction of the cost. Presenting skills, editing and filming second to none! What an epic journey, I get tired just watching your work schedule!
Hi, thank you for letting us follow your very interesting and informative channel it has been great to watch.I hope that in the future there will be some updates as to your sailing progress.A tip for storing part used tins of paint is to make sure the lid is sealed and store them upside down…no skin when you open the tin again.Cheers and best wishes for the future,Roly🇬🇧.
Interesting to see a few of the many little last minute jobs being ticked off. I could feel your stress levels in the way you were presenting them 😊. I hope you are now sitting, swinging at anchor in some scenic spot , with a glass in your hand.
I thoroughly enjoy your videos, thx. One comment/cautionary note. When re-arming the hydro switch, take note of the spring tension. I had a spring break and only found it because there was very little resistance when screwing the cap back on. It wouldn’t have activated in a dunking.
Let us know when the list of jobs is done on a wooden boat of any vintage… love the superb videos born of those jobs. The quality of the work done, excellent narration and cinematography are unparalleled. Thanks for sharing.
Well... its quite a list cast off the devil's details and then hoist the sails. Helm looks great like how the compass rides high and a high step off the sprits net but it looks right tight...
Bonjour Randy and Reg, I have not understood everything, is this actually your last video ? It is impossible, we have seen nothig about the engine starting, the sails, the navigation rules... How will we know if you are fine or not, problems encountered and solved and so on ? I know that you are not a movie maker but this amazing story can't stop like such ! Amicalement, Raphaël
Now that y'all have boat restoration. Which was foreign too your former life. I would like too hear . Reflection what u think... When u can think. Watching
Great instruction and good quality work all around. I imagine you could be both feeling a bit apprehensive about taking your life’s work out on the open sea despite the high quality of craftsmanship that ye have invested in Josephfine. I sincerely hope and pray that you can finally enjoy some worry free enjoyment at sea at last wherever you voyage! Fair sailing, SkipRay, Kerry, Ireland.
Boat owners and bridge painters have a lot in common. She is looking quite healthy. Survey and tribulations aside. ;) I am curious about Josefine's compass. R U planning on having it professionally swung (Calibrated to location) or do U feel comfortable swinging it yourself. With all of the contemporary Do Dads and upgrades that poor needle might not know which way is up. 🙃
Hi there, not entirely sure of the question, but if you mean the eyebolts through the upper hull strake (hull plank), these are fitted perpendicular to the strake not at an angle to align with the fore and aft line of the net. Cheers.
You do realize you've done the nearly impossible, don't you? You should be very proud of yourselves. Stuff the videos. The longer the wait, the better they taste..
I’ve spent the last 3 months catching up with your Josephine journey. It has been a sheer delight. Thank you so much for sharing. Such strong will and perseverance from the both of you. Chapeau.
Thank you Ian, it’s a feat in itself to get through all our videos, we appreciate it!

Oh my God Monty Pithon at 0;46
Just blown away by this episode. So much has been achieved and the videography is fantastic. I hope you have a wonderful time sailing at last!

Well done! I hope we can see some scenes of your subsequent sailing life - and maybe a walk through of Josephine now that she is fine and fit.

Let the new phase begin..
The reborn Josefine in her elements..
Looking forward to following Josefine on her new sailing journey's!
You are commendably thorough Reg, which will have its benefits when you are at sea. Crossing oceans is not for idiots!

Thanks for the post Reg - Really appreciate the detailed advice on checking/maintaining your lifejacket - have saved the link for future reference

Great video thank you
Thank you
Absolutely fascinating.
Beautiful work.......much respect.
Happy sailing!!
Well done Skipper, and now… Bon vent.
Nice made it again :) Thanks you for many inspirations.... :)
When it comes to boats and restoring a self imposed deadline is a bad idea. A strict deadline is too much stress
Any thoughts about chartering in the future?

Looking a bit frazzled there Red.
Excellent job! But why have you chosen this yellow colur for the hull, looks terrible
I would'd depend to much on those compass readings.
9:45 did you fix that screw to be straight

Have you not considered having volunteers to help . ..?
you have come a long way from being stitched up with a rotting boat, now you can call yourself a shipwright
Buy an Android tablet. Problem solved.
