Basement Dungeon to DIY Dream Sewing Studio

- It's been two months since I last uploaded a video to announce that Quilt Addicts Anonymous is going to close its fabric and notion sales to concentrate on pattern development and educational content.
I cannot thank you all enough for the outpouring of support we received in emails, comments and orders to help us clear our warehouse in about three weeks.
While that was all happening, my husband and I, with the help of our handy dads, worked to transform my basement from a ugly dark dungeon where toys go to die, to a beautiful, bright dream sewing space and playroom. This space is my family's new favorite place to be and I'm so glad we have it.
Not only did this move add a desperately needed 50 square feet to our tiny two bath, one bedroom home, but it also will allow me to continue filming and creating new content for all of you.
The entire project was completed in six weeks, while I was also working record hours to clear out the warehouse and running around after my kids who had just started school.
Then it took me another month to figure out where to put all my sewing and quilting supplies so it would be neatly organized so i could work without losing my mind in a mess.

I enjoyed this. With hard work and guidance and manpower, you went from that very sad announcement to this wonderful situation and through deadlines. The kids side is awesome and I am sure freed up much of the upstairs They can play while you work and you all have family time there. The shop shelves, what a blessing to have and move to your basement. And a wall of quilts and your patterns and fabric. I am very happy for your family. Of course recognizing there waa the loss of some of your business and perhaps employees. But you persevered to now when one might be tempted to sit and be emotionally paralyzed. Those who helped you were invaluable.

I am especially curious about the quilt on the top of the shelf directly behind you as well as the diamond pattern quilt on the shelf next to the navy display quilt. The diamond one was supposed to be in a magazine that closed one issue before the pattern was published. I’ll have to dig out the pattern and reissue it. For the one behind me, do you mean the shelf above my head or directly behind my head?

The other is just touching the top of your head as you face the camera. This second quilt has dark fabric and bright lighter fabrics in the pattern. Thanks again!

Going through a renovation project ourselves, I know how hard it can be. You are so lucky you have your family support. I love your videos and your enthusiasm and know you will make sweet lemonade out of lemons. I have found over the years that God gives us what we need, not necessarily what we want. This looks great. I don't know what I love the most (it may be the American Girl organization). Did you quilt all of the quilts on your shelves? Do you use them? Anyhow, excellent job turning a truly scary looking basement into a great workspace/playroom.
