Drawing from memory can create some real abominations, and it's always so fun. This was super great to watch. Would love to see you guys do this again! 🎉
It's actually not possible for everyone. I have been drawing for 35 years and can very accurately draw anything I am looking at, but I can't draw from memory. If it's something I've specifically learned to draw or drawn numerous times with a reference I can passably recreate it, but my memory distorts and loses so much detail. It's impossible to explain, because I DO remember what things look like but can't translate it.
As another artist; I agree. I mostly draw from memory because I'm too lazy to look for references. Finding the right reference can often take longer than doing the drawing (at least for me).
@@LunarEleven That sounds like you might have aphantasia. I recently found out that I have it - meaning I don't possess a mind's eye. I used to think I just have some sort of face blindness, because that's where I noticed it most, but I am not able to "see" anything with my mind. If I close my eyes and try to imagine a red circle, I see nothing. Some people have a milder form of aphantasia and see vague images though. Finding out that I have aphantasia really got to me - I've always been creative and loved reading. Haven't picked up a book since, because I know that I'm missing out on a lot of the experience. It’s because when u see a picture of something u usually notice the outlines and contrasts and can recreate it using outlines.
