Not a Chevy guy myself but the last C/K generation still warms my heart and holds to the old square body era that was taken for granted in terms of how simple and easy it was to work on them.
In my opinion these trucks are the perfect blend of old school simplicity with the necessary modern convivences. Though the stepsides look funny with an extended cab to me at least.
Wish I had bought my dads 98 k1500. It was a white extended Cheyenne with the 5.7, maybe a little over 100k on the clock I don’t remember. Not a spot of rust on the body.
I have a ‘94 Z71 Silverado, that I bought used in 1998. It had 65,000 miles & now in 2023, it now has over 222,250 miles. I love the truck. I did have a Flowmaster Muffler installed. I’m sad to see what passes as pickups today. You have inspire me to keep & maintain my ‘94. Thank you.
This is my favorite generation of these trucks. They were too expensive when they were new and I was young and couldn’t afford it, eventually I did have a 97 pickup and a 99 Tahoe. I’d love to have another one of these someday! I love what you’ve done with this one. Nice modern upgrade on the head unit too. Nostalgic feelings activated! As usual another great video!
My grandfather used to have a regular cab 1990 CK 15 with the flare sides… I miss that thing soooooo much….. When he sold it in 2015 it only had 113,000 on it, sure wish I could have bought it… 😂😂😂
I've always felt GM nailed it With this Generation. Old School Box Truck look with some Modern Updates. They look great. Simple and Reliable. Not a Computer Couch on Wheels. I've had them. Now I roll with 97 GMC 1500 Sierra. A 95 Tahoe 2dr. Both restored low miles . No regrets. Great Video . GM back then made trucks to last. There are some flaws but there workable. I'm glad I made the switch. My old 92 I had for years. I just think those Trucks in the Ninties were a golden Era.
One of the Best Chevy trucks era 1994 to 1998 love that truck like mine was gifted from my grandfather was a 1997 Chevy c2500 obs truck with the 5.7 tbi v8 and need some love from me after sitting 5 years
I'm not much of a GM guy, but the stuff from like 2017 back to the 1970s just has a place in my heart. I really one day hope to get a C/K series truck in decent condition and such and maybe if I'm lucky get the 454.
I have a customized 96 single cab i wont sell it under any circumstance, they are classics by now. And no way i can afford a brand new truck at these ridiculous prices Few tips Get yourself an additional atf cooler, it will reallt add longevity to the 4l60e transmission. I put mine in series with the oem cooler. Also change the air filter for a spectre not that expensive and washable! So in the end you save money . Mine is lowered sitting on 275r15 tires on outlaw ar rims. The stance it has i really awesome. Lots of things you can do to them
Great work in restoring this truck to its former glory. I've got a 96 C1500 Silverado single cab fleetside long bed with a Leer canopy, with the Vortec 350. They are just such a wonderful vehicle. Very comfortable seats. Even though mine has a bench seat I can drive it all day without problems.
Kyle kind of hit the nail on the head when he said that we saw these on the streets and in the commercials when we were young and now that’s why we want them. That’s why I’ve had 4 of these (and 4 square bodies😂)
Great looking truck! I still have an old GMT400 era Chevy, and it's still running strong. You did superbly in restoring this beauty. I particularly like the ones from 96 on when they had the new interior and features, plus engines that became port fuel injected.
I still have my late dad's 94 K1500 4x4 5.7lt 350 auto-tranny with only now just over 139'000 original miles and is my daily driver and yes lucky to get 17 or 18 miles to the gallon on the highway but I keep it full anyway and it could use a new paint job but can't afford that now but as long as it gets me from A to Z safely is what matters and I feel like my dad is in the passenger seat riding along with me wherever I go !!! And if something breaks on it I go get it fixed promptly !!! I generally drive 500 miles a week to work and back or wherever else I go total miles a week !!!
I did something similar to a certain 2002 Volkswagen Passat that was destined for the junkyard but man if that car can talk, she’ll be singing “I will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor
awsome video kyle was always a van for these older chevs so hard to find in good shape in my area really like how clean and good this truck as come together thumbs up and shared
Awesome review on a cool truck. Having owned a few of the mid to late 90's trucks, I highly recommend applying some kind of rust prevention to the chassis ! They are prone to severe rust if you live in a rust belt part of the country.
4WD S-10s/S-15s (and their Blazer/Jimmy counterparts) had IFS since their introduction in 1982. And the shift-on-the-fly transfer case was available on the half-tons beginning in 1981 (I think). But the GMT400 platform got rid of solid front axles and manual locking hubs for good. 35 years later, GM is still the only automaker to ever make heavy duty 4x4 pickups with wishbone-style IFS (yeah, Ford used the “Twin-Traction Beam” setup until 1997, but it’s not quite the same). Nonetheless, I think these were the first truly modern full size trucks. They ride pretty good, they’re easy to maneuver for a full size pickup, and unless you get a lower trim model like the W/T, the seats are quite comfortable, probably the most comfortable you’ll ever find in a truck. I miss my ‘98 Sierra Z71 (SLE trim, extended cab in beautiful “Indigo Blue Metallic”) dearly… I always dream that I’m driving it.
clean truck! not a fan of step side box but otherwise very nice looking rig. i have a 1995 4x4 k1500 project in my driveway right now that will be badass once its done
Great video. You look like you might have a little amount of play in the steering? My last one of these trucks I had to add a new rag joint to fix it. Great trucks, I'm looking at getting another one very soon.
thought id ask here. have a 96 chevy 1500 (vortec) engine. had break light turn signal issues previously got those fixed. now having issue where gear shift indicator light no longer shows. gears still shift but dont exactly work as it should. any idea what it could be? hoping instrument cluster fixes it.
I have a 98 gmc 5.7 k1500 z71. I know that Chevy and gmc are almost the same truck. I love this truck. I had a 93 f150 before this and this truck is so much better. It needs a tune-up and a new abs wheel sensor. Mine has some extra rust on it because I live in Michigan.
If I could make a top 5 of my favorite vehicles you own, this thing would be high up fa sho. Unrelated, you ever considered getting a motorcycle? I think it would be cool for you personally.
Had an offer to buy a 2014 or 2018 Silverado 5.3 finance at a really cheap rate note per month + insurance. Sounds good right? - naw, I’d rather just stack my money and pay cash for these; or even better, a gmc z71 in this era. Of course my 07 grand marquis could outrun this truck easily, but honestly in my opinion this era of the OBS and the early 2000s Silverado’s look 10/10 better than all these new botched designed Silverado/Sierras. Will be in the market to buy one here in a few weeks, I hope I come across a z71 with original big tires and aluminum wheels
@@jeffreyelliott622 come to find out he forgot or lied it has 198000 miles but actually runs so smooth I could probably balance of coin on its side on top of the engine it’s still around to so I might still buy.

The step side looks funny in any configuration lol
1:33 I love how the old gens like the 1988 to 2006 have the cool turn signal front and side. Been a fan of that feature
Beautiful Truck! I own and still daily drive my 1993 Chevy C1500 Stepside with 220K and has never let me down.

For me, I'd be satisfied with something just like this! an older, easier to work on rig with a few modern upgrades! Nothing more, nothing less!
